i understood that one, pretty funny actually. but anywayz, if i buy an OBX, put 3M weather stripping tape all inside(which i dunno how to do) and it still busts, would you buy me a new one?? and how much are OBXs for an S14, the Cs is like 280, B&M is like 340 or something lame like that.

its not tape its a liquid adhesive paul is talkin about. you can get obx for $100. enjuku sells them for like $99.99+shipping or sometimes they are on ebay for like $89.99+shipping. the guys at enjuku are really cool tho ill always go through them even if they are a lil more expensive.

Ive used gasket sealer and even doulble up on paper gaskets that i cut from gasket paper and finally even modified a collar for the shift boot on the obx to wrap arround and jbwelded it on and it still leaks. NO OBX. i dont know about b&m but i would like to hear more about this C shifter. It is actually slightly less than the retail i have seen on the B&M.

All ive gotten out of this thread is an extra shifter to think about :( Is the C's really good enough to get? Better than B&M? And how many of you have done this McGuyver OBX method? Did it work?

If you are thinking about getting the C's, you probably should check with Rare Trick (or wherever) just in case. Other than that, does anyone know if you can use an SR20 short-shifter in a KA transmission?

I want the most reliable for the money(as do most here) and im prepared to do some mcgauyver shiate to my shifter *IF* it works really well, and still maintains a good look. My shift boot is tearing, and i keep trying to take it off to put on this ghetton one i got from ebay, but i cant get it off???

Don't forget that most Japanese comapnies that offer performance upgrades for cars are actual products used in race (JGTC) cars or they are just slighlty different. Unlike here in the U.S., such as APC, where they offer cheap products for the consumer. Japan has almost no cheap aftermarket products. (unless you count Cusco which is supposedly the APC of Japan but is so much better in quality) If drifters use the C's short shifter in Japan, that is good enough testament for me. As for the question if it fits the KA.... you have to ask whoever/whereever you buy it from first.

my friend has been road racing for over 5yrs now and has been using the same obx short throw shifter. It has not leaked or snapped in half or any of that. The thing shifts like a dream and i am currently savin up for one right now(funds are tight). Why pay more for something when you can pay less for the same thing. as for snapping the shifter, has anyone actually done this? why would you be shifting so hard anyway? its only 2".

but thats just my opinion

Hey! Jspec.com carries the C's short-shifter for $280 and says that it will fit both the KA and the SR20 transmission. They have S14 short-shifters in stock, and they say that'll work for the S13 as well.

http://www.jspec.com/csshifter.html

They also have the Nismo short-shifter for $190. Has anyone used the Nismo?

S13 & S14 KA (E & DE) & Sr use the same tail shafts and all internal transmission parts. I have a KA tail shaft bolted to an SR bellhousing.

Wait, technically the Nismo "Solid Shifter" doesn't even shorten the shifts. It is, however, a one-piece desing that's supposed to be stronger than stock. Look here for some reviews on the Nismo Solid Shifter....

http://www.zilvia.net/reviews/...ct=17

Seems like these guys hate it. It doesn't look like it's worth the $ to me.

Yeah, so really the Nismo shifter doesn't seem worth the $190... I'd still go with either the B&M or C's, both seem reputable.

Just from what Ive read on this forum alone, Ive learned that OBX just sucks, B&M is pretty nice but notchy feeling, and the C's sounds like the best of them all. Too bad it costs $280 for you guys, I can get one here http://www.tougefactory.com/main2.htm for $205 shipped. As soon as I have the cash Im goin for that one. Hope this helped some of you, at least I think the $$ savings should.

Nice find on the $205 for the C's shifter. Never heard of "Touge Factory" but any site that has touge in it should be great! Plus they have cheap spin-turn knobs! :)

According to OBX, their SS is Made In Japan... And it has been redesigned to take care of the "come apart" problem. But i've never tried it.

As for C's SS it's lovely to use but i've seen it leek oil aswell. High quality, though!

No experience of the B&M SS.

Normaly you get what you pay for. But it's a simple component that shouldn't be to hard to produce, cheep & good!
