Also, I was wondering for those that installed it if you HAVE to take the door off or is it possible to do it without taking it off? I have small hands so I was wondering if I'd be able to do a little maneuvering...
Yes the silicone is for waterproofing as well as an adhesive to keep the plexiglass on the baseplate. Take off the door as mentioned in the instructions. It's not that difficult after you do it once. Small hands will not help you with the install, besides once you get the door off...
Good luck! Got mine installed with no problems.

Yeah, the excess silicone comes right off if you rub hard enough.
I actually removed all of the glue and silicone from mine but I do not advise it. Rob will void any 'warranty' for these if you do so. I replaced the clear silicone with black silicone and instead of going around the edges as it came, I filled the outer crack that encircles the plastic base plate with black silicone, ensuring there were no holes where water could get in from the bottom. I then leveled that off, and attached the plexiglass back down to the plastic base plate. Anyway, my kickplates are finished and installed, look freaking amazing and pictures will be up next week. My new wheels are sitting in my garage and my new tires come today, so those will get installed next week and then I'll take pics of the kickplates and wheels.
Stay tuned! Thanks again to Rob (Dr. Feelgood) for the AMAZING kickplates!
