I was going to remove the grille, but decided to try without doing that. I placed some cardboard between the rear of the grille to protect the radiotor, etc, then used painter's tape and newspaper to make a 1-inch border around the entire grille - paper going all the way from the grille around to the fender wells on each side, and paper going from the bottom of the grille to the bottom of the bumper, and opened the hood, laying paper across the engine bay back about a foot in from the front. (did it outside and didn't want overspray to land anywhere and paper and tape are pennies).
Long as you leave an inch of body surface around the grille and cover that border each time you cross the grille, and wait about 10min between each coat, you will do fine. I didn't do a pic with the car masked, but i just ran out to the driveway just now and laid tape out to duplicate the border I used. If you want to leave the chrome nipples like I did on my grille, just run some painter's tape across them but be sure the tape covers ONLY the tips by folding the tape in on itself in the spaces between the nipples and make sure you cover that area with dip completely with each pass over the grille, using different angles of spray on each pass.
After the 6th coat (usually they say 4 but the grille gets pelted with dirt, bugs, and rain so I wanted it to be thick) leave it to dry completely (I waited overnight). Make sure you get good coverage around the emblem and also around the border on the surface of the car so you have a nice thick edge to begin peeling with. Roll up the dip that's on the body until you can get a finger under it - keep peeling it off SLOWLY and the plastidip will automatically 'cut' itself around the grille. Do the same for the front emblem - roll one edge of the emblem until you get your finger under it, and it will automatically 'cut' where the emblem stops and the grille begins (any surface that isn't one contiguous piece will cause the dip to 'cut' around it as you peel).
