That's funny. Maybe I live under a rock because I've never seen one in my life and I lived in the SW region of the U.S. which is where it is most common. Rare to me is something of seldom occurance. How many times have you come into contact with a brown recluse or black widow?Chingon wrote:black widows rare? You kidding?
...oh wait, I must be in one of those regions of the country...
wait...so are you...
Into contact w/a black widow...20, 30 times? I don't know, lost count after I turned 13 really. But then again I would look for them and make them fight ants... It was the ****. Now that i'm a grown up, i'm more of a ***** about them... or many other insects. I get the goosebumps, where as when I was a kid, I'd try my best to capture them. Just yesterday I went to the yard for a lower control arm, and the guy who pulled it off had to kill 2.. to get it off.vicki wrote:

What's also funny about the map is that it indicates that black windows live in water. That is QUITE an interesting "fact".

Brown recluse - once at a warehouse I worked for over the summer. Some of the guys threw stuff at it, then caught it in a cup and let it go outside.vicki wrote:How many times have you come into contact with a brown recluse or black widow?

Maybe I could video tape it and sell it or something.
That's funny, considering daddylonglegs aren't spiders, don't make webs, lay their eggs in the soil/bark, and one would usually find them crawling along the ground over leaves. Hmm.Sircnay wrote:I had a daddy long legs that live in the corner of my room and spun a beautiful web that in the morning would create this BEAUTIFUL shade and color scheme in my room and so I kept him as a pet and named him, "Robert." Then one day I found that he had brought two spiders home to play with. Then the next night the two spiders were wrapped in webs and Robert was eating them.
I dont' allow homocidal cannibals in my house, Robert had to go.
