he got on behind me and there was an opening so i zoomed over to the fast lane.

then he sped up and got behind me, then tried to pass in the middle lane and the driver in front of him slowed down with traffic and he got roached.

he eventually got around and was in the middle lane and pulled up next to me, i floored it and FLEW past him and took my exit.

the station wagon is the dodge magnum....

in 2008, the dodge charger came in 4 varieties

178 HP 2.7L V6250 HP 3.5L V6 on SE and SXT340 HP 5.7L V8 on R/T425 HP 6.1L V8 on the SRT8

I'm pretty sure we can't blow past the SRT8 like that as they do 0-60 in about 5 seconds with ~ 13 sec 1/4 miles.. but the rest are fair game

THe Dodge magnum wagon looking thingie has the same engine options

So you floored it right when he pulled even with you? I think you just described "traffic".

I try not to overtly speed around Dodge Magnums b/c they're used as patrol cars around here.

lol you didn't win a race.. don't get too excited. and no.. the r/t might be faster as well.. the only 'fair game' are the first 2 trims.

if the magnum was the AWD model, even on the highway with the hemi, the a/c would pull on it, i know it has 70 more horse, but it doesnt use them very well,

The Magnum? Eww.

They've started to use the Chargers around here, but I've never seen Magnums as patrol cars.

even with the extra ponies, 1/4 mile and 0-60 are still slower than the A/C... the magnum and charger are heavy mofos!

you know you're opening yourself up for by the 3.5ers....

I think it would depend on the driver... these specs give the edge to the A/C

to understand why the a/c 3.5 would beat a r/t magnum, you would have to have of driven a magnum r/t , they are sad they do not use there extra horse and torque well at all, like doc said its most likely because they are heavy SOB's. so as for the a/c getting "owned", no way.

yeah, I just read 3 different reviews... and every review has the R/T just a tad bit slower in the 0-60 and 1/4 mile times..... as scandanavian said, the AWD is a bit slower than the RWD versions

someday i'll own a faster car. but in the meantime i'll appreciate the fuel economy that im getting with a 4 cyl and by not risking my life on the highway especially here in south florida where the highways are always under contruction.

ok i lied, i do it all the time.

If it truely was the SRT8, forget it! Doesn't matter from a stop or roll A/C is gonna get toasted. I likely was not the SRT8.

The way it was described in the OP was that the magnum was trying to catch him and he was out of sight before anyone realized what was going on ("FLEW past him...") The car may be a few tenths slower but by no means will you ever fly by an SRT or RT no matter what. Unless you're boosted.. or the other driver's asleep. So no, I won't open myself up to from anyone. Go and find somewhere where i said the v6 is slow.. and when I said it was no 'fair game' i meant it in the fact that it's more of a driver's race.. it's not a huge mismatch.

I like street racin, straight lines, in traffic, drift, whatever , but dude, its like openin up a can of sh*t around here and everyone doubts you and starts actin like a bad motortrend write up. As long as both cars knew they were in a race of speed or driving or flat out balls, its fair game... ESPECIALLY when the guy you beat egged that sh*t on. ha.

I'd agree with that, guess i read ur first post wrong... but you know how these 3.5 guys can be... I just knew you were gonna get one of those "have you even driven a 3.5" comments... its all good.. in any case, I think the A/C vs the RT would be a nice track match up!

Car and Driver lists the 05 R/T AWD @ 0-60 in 5.9 and 1/4 in 14.5. It would be closer than I originally though. Would be a close race. CVT 3.5 vs 05 R/T AWD

Kanard, dude, Magnums (or any domestic for that matter) get no love on this forum... you go off on a rant telling folks to get the name right of a car that most folks just don't really care that much about... be easy homie...we know you love your other car, but your love for the magnum doesn't translate to everyone else's feelings on the forum... and for the record... the magnum does look like a charger station wagion thingie... if you didn;t own one, you might feel the same way...

That reminds me of the time I was at a stop light... this old man in a powered wheelchair was on the curb beside me... he looked at me, like right in my eyes, so I knew is was on... Green light came on and it was like pedal to the metal, smoked his a$$.

yo kanard. don't call someone ignorant for disliking or thinking the car's an ''ugly *** hurst''.. he may be ignorant because he doesn't know the name (not that many ppl know it anyway) but he's not ignorant for thinking the car's ugly.
