Good info. I have always been a 90 day oil changer, but am considering going to 120 days or 7000 miles, whichever comes first schedule based off of my oil analysis results {usually test 2x per year} using Redline / factory filter, as at 212,000 miles, I plan on replacing the Q between 250-275K and dont see the need for more frequent servicing to obtain that while retaining max performance from the engine til the end.Decisions,decisions!!Q451990 wrote:I think Joe sells the M1 filters for about the same price as the 50Y00. I bought some from him a few years back, and finally am coming to the end of my 60U00 filter stash as well.
The one concern I've heard about the M1 filter is that it filters so well (taking out smaller particles) that it might clog up faster than the OEM filter - and then go into bypass giving no filtration. So if you like to go with long oil change intervals, or have a lot of blow-by, you might want a different filter.

Absolutely, but Wal-Mart is nearby for when the oil changing mood strikes. Best of course is to just buy bulk from IOS.maxnix wrote:I bet Joe beats them all.
Me too. A lot of members have done UOA's over there and proves that their synthetic oil ran fine with over 6k miles on it.qship96 wrote:I am a member of Bobs, and spend quite a bit of time over there on the site-unfortunatly there is a bias from numerous amsoil dealers that make finding real solid info tainted, both in oil and filter recommendations-some possibly great products are stealthly talked down to make others seem better for financial benefit of those involved
And you don't pay shipping charges at Wal-Mart.Jesda wrote:

I detest stores like Walmart, target, circuit city, best buy, sams, etc. They have done more harm than good to the American buying habits- stupid untrained help with low prices have driven the specialty shops run by experienced, helpful people out of business. I would rather support the little local guy who earns your business thru expertise, enthusiasm, and relationship selling- even if it costs a little more.NightRiderQ45 wrote:

True, but unfortunately those days are long gone. Since there are hardly any more "mom & pop" stores these days, I will keep going to Wal-Mart to purchase my oil & filter for cheap prices. I usually cut the untrained idiots out of the picture by doing the job myself. BTW, IOS is not the "little" guy. The shipping charges negates the savings UNLESS you are buying multiple items. $8 for IOS air filter, $12 at the dealer...I will just purchase at the dealer when I need my next one.qship96 wrote:

What was the price of each tire?qship96 wrote:Brian is correct... all about planning ahead and starting to shop for deals way in advance from when you need something....I bought 4 Pilot Exaltos in Jan during a Tirerack special that will be installed in June...total $200 {after mounting/balancing} less than I paid for last set in 2005 when I just swung by the local tire store and opened wallet
