I like that Idea, i think we should do that. Matte White handprints all over a matte black car.

I actually looked at it last night. Bright green would be way to much. But flat black with bright green accents is gonna happen. Or I'll just get lazy and paint it just flat black, either way, that valve cover looks awful.

I can picture the back of the car covered in handprints, just the back, behind the doors, not completely covered. It would look awesome.

I cant handle the green anymore. It has to go.

In other news. The tail lights are all cleaned up, and de smoked.

I also got the basic visual package, and numbers applied. Just need the event specific graphics.

Dont mind the "Maine Forest" event header. Its just taped on for mock up.

Looking really good Ian. Things are coming together. I hope somebody takes a bunch of photo's at the Rally. Have you thought about getting one of those camera's you mount inside? and...Which one of your minions is riding shotgun?

I already have a GoPro Hero HD. There should be tons of video.

Chris Gordon will be playing Navi on day 1, and we will be trading places on day 2.

You are so much further along that I am. Best of luck, my friend.

If you ever need spare parts, let me know.

If you EVER do SnoDrift or LSPR, message me - especially if you need a crew.

No doubt.

LSPR is one of my favorite events. I will be trying very hard to make it there this year. Snow drift is also a possibility. I will keep you posted.

Finally got the car out of the shop for some pictures with the majority of the stickers on it.

Huge thanks to Dave Muramoto for the Nissan Sport Magazine decals.

Image

Ill have to wait till I get to the event to get any of the event sponsor stickers, though I dont know how many there will be. If anybody wants there name on the car, Im open to small sponsorships (hint hint).

Image

Image

I never noticed how wrinkled the bumper is till I look at this picture.

Image

Image

Still need to get some mesh to fill the hole in the hood.

Image

Still lots to do

Mount First aid kit
New harnesses
mudflaps
spare tire mount
camera mount
oil change
Spill kit
Fuel/brake line stone shield.

That is the gist of it. I feel like there is not a ton left to do, but at the same time, I know the week leading up to the race is going to be insanity.

This brings me to my final point. I need a co-driver. As some of you may or may not know, there was a tragic accident at Olypus Rally last weekend. Matt Marker and Chris Gordon in the #65 car left the rally stage at high speed. The accident sadly took the life of Matt. Chris escaped without major injury, but he has been advised not to co-drive for at least a little while. Chris was slotted to be my co-driver for the upcoming weekend. The hunt is on for a replacement.

Man that's really unfortunate- really tough to lose someone like that.
You know if I had any time and skills, I'd be there to ride with you. But I may be able to help out with a bit of sponsorship- lord knows you've helped me plenty. Next week opens up for me, so I'll be in touch.

Ian,

I probably shouldn't be your first choice, but if you can't find someone more experienced (I've co-driven exactly 2 rallys, each C1 events, on the same day), let me know. I've got all the gear and I won't be running the Sentra, unfortunately.

Mark, thanks for the offer. I talked to Dan. He offered to codrive, but I may not need him. There is someone else who is very interested, and im obliged to give them the chance. I will post up when I know more.

3 days to finish the car. I dropped Chris off at the airport this morning. He is off to work with Jennifer, our new Co-Driver. He will be training her in on how to keep me pointed in the right direction.

Time to buckle down, tons of stuff left to do. Its going to be close.

What is it about rally that always makes car prep come down to the last minute?

I have the same problem. Only I have no skills with which to do that prep.
Good luck. Hopefully, I'll get up there to watch.

No watching allowed Dave. If you come, you work. ;) :chuckle:

A lot of the stuff I have left to do is simple little stuff, like disassembling my spare rear subframe and boxing up all the control arms, or cataloging all my other spare parts. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hahaha, alright keep me posted. There is a Rallyfest at Minnetonka Subaru Wednesday evening, it may be the only break we take, as long as I feel the car is about ready.

Saturday stage went great. It rained a lot, the roads were very greasy. Chris opted out of shooting in car for the day. It was his first time in this car, and his first time with rear wheel drive, so i dont blame him. Despite his reservations, he put down some great times considering the road conditions.

Cale and I will be putting together a full front page article recapping the event, so i guess you guys will just have to wait till that drops. If you are really antsy, you can check my facebook page for a few on the fly pictures.
