LOL i thought of this right when i posted it. CF wrap on the roll cage. Problem solved.
For a couple of reasons I have settled on a KA for now. First of all being cost. I can make low end torque for cheap which will help out in the corners. Plus, I wont feel so bad if I blow one up right away. Also, if I do decide to jump up to G5, then I will either need something turbo SR20DET, or something with higher dispacement to be even remotely competitive.troskinatior wrote:What? No sr20de?
No kidding, well if I know anybody heading down there, or coming back Ill hunt you down, but its a long shot. Thanks though. Im going to start hitting up the local junk yards now that everything is starting to thaw out.offroadbob wrote:I have a block and head all taken apart ready for rebuild that i would love to give you... plus extra cams and stuff. but i'm in AZ and shipping would be a b****!!!!!
hrm, where has that happened before?PapaSmurf2k3 wrote:White is good for having people sign your engine bay

1. KA-T...Don't throw away .4 liters. Abusing ours at altitude and revving to 7200...works great.FlatBlackIan wrote:

If I have time/money, Id like to give the DE with SOHC pistons swap a try. I think it could be fun, though Id rather not run race fuel.
Im limited to NA for now due to Rally America rules, which is ok, because I am poor, and turbo's are expensive.kenno470 wrote:

2. E85-E95. Plentiful in your area and cheap. We're getting GREAT results with this stuff. Run essentially whatever CR you want, plus cooler operating temps. win-win.
Call me if you want to discuss details of either.

I have all of it figured out in theory. I have all the parts, its just a matter of assembling everything, installing all the bushings, and fitting it all to the car. All my control arms and such are sitting in the corner waiting for my attention.JDM_albert wrote:how much of the suspension set up do you have figured out?
i dont think anyone wants a l26..... worst l series evaaaaaanumbnuts240 wrote:

Those dampers for the win!! Cant wait to see it all put together..FlatBlackIan wrote:
Look at them damper pistons. Your drift coils got nothing on these bad boys.
Control arms will be stock, with poly bushings. Control arms get bent often, and I cant afford to replace expensive aftermarket arms every other race.JDM_albert wrote:

Got any pics of control arms? If they're aftermarket or modded of course..
I have some extra sohc pistons i'd sell on the cheap for the project (email me if interested). I dont know if e85 common around you but, that is the poor mans race gas. If you dont plan on boosting the ka then go ka24e pistons, 370cc injectors, e85 and a safc.FlatBlackIan wrote:

Why not solid bushings, is there an advantage to having poly in terms of the way it transfers the heavy shock you'll be putting it through? Reason I ask is that poly bushings bind on certain arms...I used to know it by heart but I *believe* its the tension rods and the sway bar endlinks that you need to avoid using poly.FlatBlackIan wrote:

In that case would it be possible to reinforce them to increase longevity?FlatBlackIan wrote:
