Hahaha. Well, all my suspension stuff is finnaly here. Once the car is gone for caging, I will begin putting it all together. I also plan to finish the steering rack, and dig into the wiring. I hope to get pictures up after thanksgiving, I seem to have lost my camera cord.

Exactly. The rear glass is near impossible to remove intact, and the hatch has rust from the spoiler.

Man would that piss off the purists.

It would be a neat, but not really a good idea. First of all, it would disqualify the car from competition. Rally rules state the engine block must be derived from something offered by the vehicles manufacturer.

Also, custom fitting engine like that, would seriously hinder a persons ability to repair the car in a hurry. It would unnecessarily complicate things.

A full custom setup, utilizing inverted monotube Bilstien dambers, ground control coilovers, and Tein camber plates. I have all the parts, but Im waiting till the car is out for caging to start putting them together.

As for the car, the frame rails are all but welded up, just a few little things to cover. All I have left to do is some fine welding, repair the holes in the floor pan, and finish up stitch welding everything.

I hope to haul the car out Thursday evening.

I've read not so good things about pairing the Bilsteins with the Tein plates. Alot of guys prefer to use the T3 plates with Bilsteins on Nissan Road Racing, but I have no idea what the hell those T3 plates are.

I'm sure you've got it all sorted in either case.

Thanks everybody, I guess you deserve an update.

Ive been working my butt off trying to get the car ready for a cage. I actually have a lot more done than I have pictured, but my camera battery died and I just now got around to charging it.

Got a plate cut out, and welded into place in the engine bay. No more hole, yay.

Holes in the firewall for AC. Dont need those.

Holes on the fender rail, near the firewall. No more flexy strut towers.

More holes in the fender rail.

Cut out the frame rails. Dont mind the residual surface rust.

Getting started patching them up. They are done now, but I dont have pictures.

Got all the seams on the rear strut towers cleaned up. Just have to get around to stitching them. Too bad I ran out of wire.

I also got the seams cleaned at the front and rear of the floor pan. Again, no pictures, but I will get some.

Lots of work to do.

Thanks for the update ian. I keep checking this thread almost daily :-p

Sorry if you covered this, I skip a lot of replies. What are you using to clean the seam sealer crap off? If I pick up a welder I intend to stitch up my 240 lemons project car. Wondering what has worked well for you.

I chipped scraped, and scratched the bulk of it off using a chisel. Once I had most of it off, I used an angle grinder with a braided wire wheel on it.

I will if you will.

I got started with the stitch welding on the rear strut towers.

Hey I think Im getting the hang of this.

The sticker that holds the welding helmet together.

My ADD was getting the best of me, so I left the rest of the stitch welding for later. Time to tackle the giant holes in the floor.

Yuck.

Hey you can see my shoes.....

Ick you can see my shoes.

Enter sheet steel. I got the piece roughly into shape, then started tacking at one corner.

Working in both directions, I worked the metal into the shape of the floor.

Until it fits like a glove.

Then I continued going around adding tack welds until its completely welded on. It looks ugly, but it allows for a strong weld without overheating the parent material, and causing it tow warp. With a little grinding it should look great.

Lather rinse repeat.

And right around the time I got it tacked all the way around, I ran out of gas, and had to call it a night.

I hope to finish tomorrow night.
