basically if you send them there shouldnt be any custom charges no matter what the case. if its comming back for warranty work or a touch up i shouldnt have to cover the charges for them. basically when you fill out the paperwork dont use ups because they rape you on charges, lower the value, mark it as a gift or a sample and try and get it in one box not two. also when you use over night service your looking at about double the price in charges. when i send them back though i insure them for about 500 bucks, that way it covers the majority of things that can be broken and you can always buy replacement lights for 2-300 on most sites and i have spare sets here as well. basically any of the custom charges ill just forward it with the shipping costs for when i ship them back to you guys if applicable

so i shipped my lights out to brandon last night at 6pm from here in Maryland (it cost me $271!!! i didnt think it would be that much). I just shipped them regular FedEX economy shipping and was told they would take 5-7 business days to get there. Im in no rush to get them back since those were the extra set that i bought, so that time frame was fine with me. Anyways, i checked the tracking on the lights today, and they got to his house today at noon!!!! thats only 18 hours!!!!! damn FedEx is fast. lol. Granted the FedEx delivery guy was waiting for my lights to be finshed packaged at the shipping place, but i didnt think that they would get there that fast!!!!

anyways, brandon said that my lights were the only ones where he didnt get charged for customs, leading me to believe that thats why i paid $271 to ship my lights. he said that usually shipping costs around $100 for him without the customs fee, so maybe the shipping place had me eat the customs charge for him up front.

Brandon can shine some more light on this but i dont think thats why you didnt get any customs charges... you paid so much because you shipped it fedex!

Shipping it thru USPS the proper way shouldnt cost you more than $50-70 bucks i believe.

Remember, fedex is a real company that has a real BLACK bottom line.. whereas the USPS is a failing company with a big red number at the bottom line... lol

Ok guys! I got my lights! one word of warning, NEVER EVER ship with canadapost anything of value. they broke my two tabs...

anyways, I'm going to get them plastic epoxy glued so no prob with that. I'm just glad to finally be able to install my lights. here they are in SUPER HD.

the seal's ben redone twice so thats why it's kinda funky:

so here are the lights! 10 LED goodness with chrome signal bulb and dual angel and lots of stuff. I'll post in the projector showoff thread once I'm done installing them.

wish me luck guys!

good luck.

I have been thinking about the seals the last few days. I wonder if we can get some chrome trim pieces, like they make to put on door trims and place it over the seal where the lights are exposed with a open hood. Kind of like a external chrome trim that will only be seen when the hood is open. May cover up warn seals, and give the lights a little more attention when the hood is open.

+1 on the dishes lol...

Mendi.. your in canada, so its not a customs issue with them opening the box and not closing it properly.. It is a "i didnt use a good enough packing method" issue that caused the broken tabs IMO.

I challenge you to post pics of the box, and materials used in it!

Gotta disagree here. It's amazing how anal I am about cleaning my dishes, but in this case they'd definitely take a back seat to installing projectors. Get those things in! We want pics!

Blast! i wish i would have known this prior to shipping them. oh well, they got to him in 18 hours using "economy" shipping......cant complain that much. the reason why i didnt think to use USPS was because i thought that they didnt deliver to Canada. I thought the United States Parcel Service only delivered within the US.

I spliced about 8 cables, fairly intimidating but it's quite easy with the supplied blue clip things that auto splice for you

the longer wire goes thru one side, and the wire you want to splice in goes in the other side... you smoosh the thing closed and it splices it in... (i personally dont like these damn things, had some issues using them in my led interior)

But they are super simple to use.

Ok guys so today i opened up my first sedan light and now i can fully understand why lightwerkz seems to only want to do these. it opens up so easily that it looks like it did at the factory before they assembled it. not sure if its the glue inside it or the actual design but these things fall apart just by looking at them and the seal looks better then the one lightwerkz showed on his page. sometimes with the coupe you get one thats easy to open and sometimes there impossible, so its hit and miss with the seals considering its so hard to open up so guys take this into consideration, but if you have a sedan your seals will be close to if not factory looking
