Brandon, I have a question, why didn't you use TSX projectors on your retrofit? From asking around (not just @ lightwerkz) the E46 projectors were not in anyone's top 5 for suggestions on which ones to use... I've tried to keep up, but there's like 20+ pages of crap on three threads to look through. Thanks in advance for the information

also, to what paypal address do we send deposits?

i asked the same question because i know TSX projectors are suppsoed to be the best for your money....this is what Brandond told me....."the tsx are to wide, honestly I could try and get one in but I think ill have a problem with making it level. If you don’t mind your cutoff being a little slanted then I could probably due it. If not I could cut out some of the reflector and fibreglass it in there but it would be pretty expensive as the projector itself is around 190."

i wouldnt mind paying a little extra to get a TSX projector in there since i know theyre among every retrofitters top 5

I believe this is exactly correct. The TSX uses a relatively large projector. IMO, it's definitely worth the extra money. Those projectors are pure sex. I absolutely love the cutoff and the colors they produce, along with the output.

i mean they cant be that much more expensive than the e46 projectors....maybe like $50-$75 more? $100 more, tops. id def be willing to pay more to get a pair of TSX rather than the e46.

and hey, if brandon needs a few more days than projected because he needs to create a fiberglass enclosure to hold the projectors so theyll have a level cutoff, im perfectly fine with that....its not like im driving around without headlights in my car.

brandon....for my setup with the e46 projectors the price came to $525....what would it jump to to get TSX projectors instead with some fiberglass work to make them sit perfect? it seems like if you could get TSX's to work, then you would have a lot of people willing to pay more for them.

I dunno if the TSX projectors are smaller then the FX projectors but the FX projector needed a lot of trimming to get it to fit. As pointed there is not much vertical space in the headlights.

the reason i went with the bmw projector is, its small and easy to use in the altima headlight considering the different style of the light. the fx was hard enough to get in there to sit level, basically had to modify it so much you wouldnt even recognize it compared to a regular fx projector. the tsx are wide base and it ends up not only causing the housing to be modified but the labour that goes into the fiberglass as well, so it ends up being like 100 more for the projectors just because i cant get them in large quantity and would have to source them out individually, where the bmw projector is made by bosch and i can get large orders or them. honestly if someone is interested in getting a tsx let me know but its going to be almost the same price as a dual set up for a single beam alone just because of all the work and the whole point of this groupbuy was to keep the price relatively low

here is the measurements between the fx and the tsx to show you

Infinity FX35/45 Bi-Xenon (aka FX):Diameter = 69.20mmHeight = 105.10mmWidth = 111.80mmLength = 150.70mmLength(seat of the lens to mounting holes) = 54.60mmLength(mounting holes to end of bulb) = 72.10mmMounting hole distances are not measured beacuse most peoplewould make their own and cut-off stock brackets

Acura TSX Low Beam (Stanley):Diameter = 71.05mmHeight = 85.30mmWidth = 120.80mmLength = 156.45mmLength(seat of the lens to mounting holes) = 42.00mmLength(mounting holes to end of bulb) = 96.95mmWidth(between top mounting holes) = 100.45mmWidth(between bottom mounting holes) = 103.45mmHeight(between mounting holes) = 41.50mm

as you can see its the width that makes it so hard to fit, it would be fine if the bottom of the headlights where flat and didnt slope up

and here is the s2000 which is not as wide why lightwerkz uses this Honda S2000 Low Beam (Koito):Diameter = 71.70mmHeight = 105.60mmWidth Trimmed = 113.50mmLength = 135.30mmLength(seat of the lens to mounting holes) = 41.40mmLength(mounting holes to end of bulb) = 93.90mmMounting hole distances are not measured beacuse most peoplewould make their own and cut-off stock high beam bracket, width is measured as trimmed.

that explanation is enough for me....looks like im not getting TSX

how much additional would it be to switch to S2000's? $100, 150, 200 more? i mean i know you can get S2000 projectors for like $250-300 shipped. how much more is that than the e46's that you plan on using?

1. explanation of the widths aside, it still doesn't change the fact the the E46 projector is not considered ytop tier regarding cutoff beam pattern, color of projector, etc.... that is what's holding me back from going with the E46.. to be honest, the street pictures of the E46 on spock's car just didn't really do it for me... I just want to make sure I get my money's worth...

2. barandon, so numbers aside, will the TSX projectors fit? If not, how much for S2000 projectors?

3. WHERE DO I SEND THE PAYPAL PAYMENT if I decide to jump on this?

yea im the same way...id rather pay more money and be happy with the finished product. I was just trying to get an idea of how much more i would be looking to pay.

the pictures where the fx on the street not the bmw, honestly i wont do a tsx setup considering the fx with a clear lens has a better ouput and its smaller and a bi xenon model. if those arnt wide enough for you i dont know what is because in person spocks car was lighting up everything even on the sides of the road. s2000 your looking at 350-400 for the projector alone

so what do you think is better performance wise since tsx are out of the question: e46, fx, or s2000?

I have FX projectors and those were not aimed, properly due to the Y-Pipe Protoypers needing my car.

Trust me on this one, but the cutoff has been fixed its a million times better then last time. When I pick up my car tonight I will update the pictures of the cutoff. Trust me when I Posted pics of the Bat, driving at night was not safe, the difference is night and day. The bat was caused by a slanted cutoff and the projectors aiming down into the ground, and not straight ahead. Since then brandon has fixed it. My apologies to you guys and brandon for not posting pictures but unfortunately, with work and y-pipe and life in general I have not had a chance.

the s2000 is the top without a doubt, the problem is the price with them, i cant get them from my source so i looked on ebay and the only way it seems to get them is buying whole headlights those with shipping almost come out to 550. the fx with tsx lens are almost as good as the s2000 and about half the cost

S2000 no doubt....theyre the best of any projectors out there.

Brandon's not bs'ing on this one. Check out the interwebs and look for this combo. These are commonly referred to as TFX projectors (TSX lens + FX projector = TFX). You should be able to find pics all over of cars with these retrofits. Since Brandon appears to be able to get the TFX stuff relatively cheap, this is almost certainly the best way to go. Man, I wish I had the funds right now to jump on this...

So you finally decided to jump in on this eh?

I knew the big posters would soon, it's only a matter of time before the sexyness of projector headlights gets to all of you.

I'll add you when brandon confirms

and btw,

Hey, it was worth a try. Right? Maybe I can start a company and make horrible financial decisions and then have the fed bail me out so I can afford to get on this group buy. That might be a good plan...

Seriously though, congrats to all those getting in on this. It doesn't appear you'll be disappointed in the slightest. Excellent work Brandon!

Someone still has to post some pics of their lights at night. I wanna see the cutoff against a wall and the light spread. Every day on my way to work (while it's still dark out) I see Acura TSXs and wish my car had headlights that looked like that. You (20 so far) are lucky SOBs...

Hey, you sell me that Critical mass woofer for $500 and I'll buy you some projectors....
