SmithSR, I was thinking that same thing. Sounds like we have a bunch of ricers out acting like teen agers.

Some people have no respect for the law. That is fine and dandy. But if you get a ticket or arrested for acting stupid, so be it.

Trust me, if you knew this guy...you would have been inclined to show him how you felt too. I shouldnt have done it, but I'm not sorry I did.

lessthanjake: here's a simple example, as there are many scenarios in which a good, God fearing citizen can stop a criminal act. Behind my shop, there was yet another transient eyeing the employee vehicles. Since this is a common problem around here, we usually assign a new guy to make a quick trip out back to check on things. As the newbie was walking past his truck, he noticed his window had been busted out and his backpack was missing. He sees this bum running off with his bag, and runs inside screaming for us to call the cops. So, a couple of us law abiding citizens who carry with us concealed pistol permits grab our guns and give chase. The bum runs across the street to a bowling alley, where we find him hiding in the back room. High as a kite, baked out of his gourd. He sees us and makes a break out the back door, where my friend is waiting for him with his Sig 228(9mil hehe) with a round chambered. The guy stops, drops the bag, and starts crying as we surround him. He then starts goin whacko, saying he doesn't know where he is, until the cops show up and take him away. The cops here like our shop and know us all quite well, but still cautioned us that we shouldn't point our handguns at anything we dont intend to shoot. Maybe this bum wasn't a threat to my friend's life, but his handgun, which he legally carries, made this guy stop immediately. One down, one million to go!!

well...this is almost off topic. but last night comin home from the MATRIX: Reloaded (awesome), i passed a speed trap setup, (cop in car) at about 1:30 am...i passed him doing 75 on a 30 mph road...it's straight forward and comlpetely desolate...i guess he was snoozing on the job or something cuz it seemed like he didnt even gun me. no pursuit or anything, but i definately saw a guy in the car...no idea what he was doin

Most cops around here tell me that when they're too busy with paperwork or other non/cops & robbers stuff to radar people, they'll chill at a spot and most people will see them and slow down no matter what.

Pull your state's statutes on citizen's arrests. Not necessary to have a CCW (or a weapon) to effect an arrest, but unless you're prepared to restrain the person, it's normally not a good idea for Joe Citizen.

Also, you run the risk of being charged with kidnapping if the arrestee was NOT violating the law (or has a good attorney).

Well done, Smith. One more reason why I'm CCW (or my 21" ASP and OC spray) at almost all times.

Hitman, you're right. It isn't necessary to have the CCW. It was also a risky, and maybe not so wise move on my friend's part to pull his gun on the guy. The cops told us so. I guess it's a good thing they know us well enough. It was also a bonus that this clown is well known as a transient and low level criminal.

ha. speaking of flipping people off...yesterday some guy in a civic sedan was for no reason tailgating me in rushhour traffic, literally INCHES off my bumper, he motioned to go on the shoulder to the right, so i motioned too, to fake him out, then i pulled back in line. guy gave me the finger, i gave him the finger, and he continued on the right shoulder as he pleased and ran through a red light at a busy intersection.

he was already driving recklessly, he flipped me off first, but then he was in a hurry to go nowhere, as the guy at the red light next to me said.

i love people... no, i really do!

You found it, John.

Very handy, very concealable, and believe it or not, lethal.

It's interesting - When I'm driving my Q, people are more likely to be pricks on the road. But when I get in the '90 Suburban with 35" tires and a 6" lift, guess what....:D

The cool part about being older is I have so much insurance on BOTH cars, I don't give a s*** - I'll plow your a$$ if need be. THEN, if you're dumb enough to get out of your car, pray you're armed.

p.s. I don't condone road rage.

You don't need to be AZhitman to have an ASP...they're actually pretty easy to get. I have one that stays in my car at all times:D.

ASP are okay, but after you hit someone the darn thing collapses. They are no where as effective as the PR24. But they take up a lot less space and are consealable.

Actually, the ASP will NOT collapse unless you strike it tip-first into a hard surface (harder than a body). If it does, it is either 1) too old, 2) has not been extended properly, or 3) is not a real APS (many cheap imitations).

Mine has to be closed with a sharp strike to the concrete.

I also have a collapsible PR-24, (concealable and small) but I really prefer something w/o a pommel for close quarters action. I'd prefer to be hit with a standard-issue PR-24 than a 21" ASP anyday - Bigger diameter doesn't injure as deeply. A properly swung ASP can penetrate a car fender.

p.s. mainevent, I'd be glad to be your "mentor" - Hope you're in good shape! :D

when i was 16 i was drivin my '85 ford tempo home from school one day and through this rural area i let my friend steer from the passenger seat. then this car came up on me from behind and got close, so i sped up. the car kept gettin closer and i kept speeding up til i was goin 70 in a 35 (with my friend still steering, stupid kids :D). then there was a well known speed trap comin up so i slowed down to 35. then the car behind me pulled over at the speed trap, and the cop that was there came after me! the other car was an off duty cop!luckily i just got a warning. good thing the off duty cop didn't know my friend was steering haha

The ASP is okay for the ease of concealment. I would still rather have the PR if I am getting into something. Better for blocking.

Hell, just give me a taser and some peper spray and we will call it a night. :D

PS I cant fight that good. That is why I need the PR for blocking. To make sure i dont get me butt kicked. I been meaning on going and taking some martial arts from an officer friend of mine. Just too outta shape for it right now.
