yea, our cams are sensitive to stuff like that. For example, have lash all out of wack on a solid setup and you'll be snapping cams all day without even knowing the problem.

Darius is correct, free testing is better than $$$ and time testing. Build pressure and check.

yeah good call way to look out.

Matt I did that exactly that way with the lifters...

Now I did try to crank the motor, I did 5 intervals of 15 second cranks, I was starting to loose some cranking amps.... Need to charge the bat.

I'll head over in a bit and try it again. You guys really feel they will bleed down? because so far it seems to not be working... I maybe have a few lbs registering of oil pressure so far. I'll try jacking the rear of my car up higher too to insure the sump is full.

Your sump should be full. What pump is on there?

Maybe you ran a short snout collar And it slipped and you don't build pressure!

If so you better call the plumber to get some extention

Just messing with you man. I'm hungry and this is the only thread on the whole internet that is keeping me occupied job well done.

I'm glad.... lol

Actually I thought us RB guys were supposed to remove the collar? then fit the crank into the motor? NO?

I'm heading over now to do some more priming, I've gotta battery charger this time.

If all else fails, just drive your tractor over to your garage and hook the PTO shaft up to the driveshaft and prime the oil system that way.

theres by baby right there, we will get a belt/pulley/shaft system going.

Its gonna be a bit of a drive to the garage from my house though... 15 miles at 4mph... well you do that math.

Didnt work... I tired for a few minutes... and nothing....

It actually turns out our master mechanic Cory is a ****ing idiot.... who enjoys rebuilding his lifters only to install the internal lifter body backasswards!!

So after removing all my **** in front of my rad support, removing my belt, cams and all that other garbage, I did a leak down test with no cams all are good, actually strong enough to turn the motor over, and actually almost knock my car off the jackstands (it was in gear)..... So I stayed motivated and reinstalled all my ****, got it bare bones enough to attempt a start...

I go to crank, it cranks and cranks sounds like a car this time but no startsty... I glance down at the floor to notice I had disconnected my ignition box, plug her in, crank and a ****ing roar echos through my closed garage as I was graced with the presence of graduating from the NRRB association...

Omg you have no idea how ****ing good it felt, the car ran, idled, reved, one down side was the obnoxious lifter tick since they all got squishy from no oil pressure.... I let her run for about 45 seconds , watching my gauges as oil pressure built up to around 60-70 and shut her down since the rad isn't hooked up... wow does she sound mean as hell.

Hopefully nothing else goes wrong, and the lifters re-pressurize after idling for a bit, and a weekend drive might be in my future? Then to the dyno to hopefully lay down some good numbers.

thank you all for the suggestions and intuition into figuring out my retard problems!

I'm so happy for you dude! I can't believe you installed the lifters upside down hahaha. At least you figured it out and corrected it easily enough.

Thanks Matt,

Yeah I cant believe I did that either, I had it so the bleeder valve was pressed into the head of the lifter lol.... The difference is hardly even notice able by sight but my valve train noticed it....

Now I can be queer and dust my RB shirt off for tomorrow! (I refused to wear it while it was down lol)

Tight work, now you can pick me up and get something to eat! The trip shouldn't take too long now that your rolling nothing less than pure baller status under a hood.

Glad to hear Cory

maybe this weekend? I'll see how my base tune is holding together with the new C/R and different cams... its only 14 psi.. I shall see.

At least an idling video I'll be sure to get.

Awesome man!, Glad it got sorted out. I just read the whole thread. It's been awhile since i've been on here.

When my builder reassembled the valvetrain in the head after cleaning, he reversed (intake on ex side, ex on int) the cams/caps and maybe lifters. I swapped cams/caps back to normal. Now just have to check the lash. I'm still not sure my FSM supplement is correct on clearances, says int/exh are the same?? Hopefully it won't be too much of a headache and have to check each lifter, as Ricky said there's 70 different sizes for the Neo...

Anywho, glad everything worked out! I may have a similar thread as this here soon.
