I've been looking since I first read this thread, and nothing comes up when you search "cali custom springs". We are on the ball. I suspect that he/they whoever did this, are probably not gonna start selling immediately, especially on ebay. We should look on craigslist as well.

While I wasn't in on the GB, its still bull$hit that someone would pull something like this.

We're supposed to help each other out, not screw each other over!
Amen!

Sounds like you never heard of early bird gets the worm or capitalism.........next you'll be calling for an excess profit tax on springs like the ...........................I never dare mention a political party.

Q owners are supposed to be the somewhat idle rich and captains [well Master Sargents at least] of industry. Not Chavez Socialists.

No, I never buy anything in bulk except Toluene and cell minutes and never sell anything on Ebay.

All true - yet I don't think anyone thinks that pure market capitalism is the best thing for all. We had that turn of the century and it was pretty f'd up for most.

Point is that though one can do what he/she wants in a free society, actions IMHO are best tempered w/ethics.

What "that" person chose to do was not illegal, but assuming that it was someone on this board it's behavior that is unworthy of our community.

Hopefully if Wes or Q45Racing can work out something with one of the companies, then it'll really force the hand of whoever bought those springs. Considering if he was going to stockpile them and sell them higher, and we found another source of springs for people who needed them in a GB, he'll end up being like Simon with 13 springs left over and have to find somebody to buy them. At that point, he'd probably either try to undercut what we can get them for, or sit on them longer.

hey, i just bought a Q from a customer and i am gonna step in here. I can have the springs made, coilovers made, you name it , we can have it made or make it. The website is not up right now but I import high end coilovers for Nissan, Mitsu, Subaru, and a few others as well as make tension rods, toe and traction rods in such an over built way. We use for example on our tension rods, cnc 4140 billet material for the base, 7075 aerospace aluminum for the adjusting section and chromoly 3 pc rod ends. Our coilovers are 16 way compression and 25 way rebound adjustable via remote resevoir. I can have the springs made. I will check on the cost and quantites needed. I already was going through eibach and a friend who runs it was working on getting me the rears as the fronts they still have 17 pr in stock but no rears. He was sourcing them from Gemany and going to get back with me. but i could use a CC set instead if they are more in line with what people want. I will do a little research and get back with everyone if you guys want me to. My site is down. I was at SEMA IAS and we redid alot of the site with new info and photos and then i got sick with a major infection and have been out of it since. Still not well yet.

thanks

What we really need is a workable [cost effective like $130-$150 each] set of adjustable rebound shocks especially for REAR since that where the progression is at it's worst. Assuming no more than 10% heavier than oem wheels tires, rotors or some combination........the compression doesn't need to be adjustable.

ok i can do coilovers but unfortunately the factory is gonna want like 20-30 sets......lol.... i don think we have 20-30 people do we that would want them. I sent an email and we will see what they say. I use another factory for the springs. Their quantites are a bit more realistic on some items.

our Formula Series is a 16 way adjustable mono tube shock. Single adjustment for compression and rebound similar to a JIC Magic shock. They retail for like 1250.00 a set with springs, etc.....

i think they would do it for 20. how different is the later style Q45 97-01 as far as suspension is concerned. Just thinking out loud. maybe these are the ones with the integrated spindle i saw on the yahoo auctions......

thanks dan

dan, the Y33 fronts are a mcphearson setup (like you described) and the rears are similar to the G50...

They are not as stiff and the "feel" is soooooo much better with CC! That's just one reason. Length of spring is a bit different as well.

The car DEFINITELY rides smoother and it also seems to roll less under hard cornering... Rear feels the sameish, the front is a little softer... Remmeber the eibachs are not progressive up front and they are progressive in the rear, all 4 springs on the CCs are progressive.

ok i can do this. i am a little worried on the commitment end as i need to make 25 sets.......YIKES....and at that rate the cost isnt the greatest but isnt real bad either. these are made correctly. ISO 9001 certified on CNC wafios winders. I would need a set of CC springs to copy. It is a minimum of 6-10 weeks from the date we get the springs to the factory. They will be in our steel blue color that our coilovers are accented in. Cost should be (estimated only but very very close) 215.00-220.00 a set i know its not the cheapest but i am trying.........

thanks dan

Dan,

Realistically speaking, I highly doubt we'll get 25 MORE people to buy the springs..... I mean, i already sold 20 sets of the cali customs... not trying to be a naysayer just trying to be realistic.

so what is a realistic amount...... i want a set. i was gonna make sleeve coilovers for my car as a one off set but it would be more than the cost of the springs....... you guys talk about it and i will keep checking in each day. the minimum is 25 sets that i can make. i wouldnt be too pissed to have say2-3 sets left.... but i cant afford to have 5-10 left....

sorry guys..i am trying

Hell, when you find out who bought the CC Springs, get him to buy 15 sets!

Just a thought....

I'm still in for a set if the price is 220's. I might even need 2 sets...depends what happens with my miata...I think it's got a blown head gasket which means KO for it. May replace it with a 90-96 Q.

I'm also in if he can make a set exactly like the CC's.

I guess we need a headcount for this thread.

I'm in so long as the price point can stay within the $200-$300 range.

They'll work, but you'll go through hell to make it right. Involves a bit of cutting of the upper rubber seat, because the springs are too small for the Q45 strut mounts. I can't remember the guys name that actually put them on the car (Scott I think) but he said they were a bit too harsh for his liking. He now has the CC's and loves them.

I attempted the Z32 Eibachs and did a test fit of the Z32 KYB AGX (adjustable shocks). The Shocks would fit, but are a bit shorter (almost 2"). This would cause all sorts of issues that I wasn't willing to deal with. After lots of cutting of the upper rubber seats (in the front), I decided the Z32 Eibachs were too much as well. Then I just went with the CC's.

The eibachs that Rex has ARE NOT Z32 eibachs, they are Q45 eibachs! Trust me, Ive talked to Rob about this more than REx has most likely!!
