Prostituting myself to pay for school......

lol.. this is the WILDEST idea I have ever seen.. You're definitely crazy.

How are you guna prevent stone chips from hitting the bumper? Let alone those f*** face teenagers who will wanna crack the screen? I think this is guna bring you ALOT of stress and turn this car from your daily driver to once a year driver.
first, I'm sorry you must prostitute yourself to pay for school... i understand that giving oneself away for money can be a very traumatic experience...

2nd, this project is wild.. I admit... but honestly, there are a number of things that happened that allowed this project to even come into existence..

1. I recieved the bumper for free thanks to the generousity of michaelthe psycho

2. My car shop gave me a REALLY, REALLY, REALLY good deal on the labor... shout out to Car Audio Heaven, 8199 Clairemont mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA

3. I found a paint shop that will semi-sponsor me regarding the price as long as I pomote his paint/repair shop at my car meets/car shows

4. I won a $5,000 sholarship... most went to short term savings and long term savings accounts, but the rest I decided on spending on myself... (myself meaning my car)

Now, regarding the security of the monitor/bumper ... there is 1/8 inch extremely strong black/smoked plexiglass that will be over the monitor. When the bumper is painted, that entire bottom area will be gloss black, thus it will not stand out as much as it would with a contrasting color, or matte black surrounding... the monitor itself is going to be extremely secyrly attached to the bumper in ways that I will not go into...

I plan to keep the car covered if I keep the bumper on, and when I move to Baltimore, i already have a place with a secured garage...

in Baltimore, i fully anticipate the bumper to fail if kept on everyday, so it may only go on during the summer, or for car shows...

i hope to get a few years out of the monitor, but in the end, I love the look of the factory bumper, and will be keeping that in storage and can change it out as i see fit...

so i've thought this thing through, and I'm fully aware of the risks associated with it... but in the end.. even if somone managed to jack the whole bumper, I'll just have to charge it up to the game....

in the end, when I talk about the crazy stuff i did during my car modding days, I'll have a pretty good story to tell... and the car meet/show pictures to prove it!

I have a place in Baltimore that you can store it when it's not in use....... it may be Precision Grey when you want it back, but I have a place.

you had a thread a while back about putting in 4 small screens..if i remember correctly. I was one of the advocates of you doing it since it something you wanted. I'm glad to see that you're doing something crazy, creative, and awesome like this. can't wait for pics.

congrats rob!

thanks... after giving it some thought, I opted for the 19" monitor instead

at the paint shop waiting to be painted... they say they won't be able to get it into the booth until Thursday

Yup, its great quality for $180. That's the truth. Fitment was good, came with all the proper gaskets and bolts. The only problem is the tips. You could make it louder if you want by building your own pipe for the resonator section. It sounds a lot like the 350z now. All in all, very surprising for $180 bucks from ebay!
does anyone know if this exhaust would fit the 2.5?

at first glance I would say no... this exhaust bolts up right after the y pipe, and the 2.5 obviously doesn't have a y-pipe, so I doubt it will fit...

sucks though because this is BY FAR the best $175 cat back I have ever seen... well tack on abother $120 for some nice exhaust tips (purchase price + install price) .. but still, $300 total for this exhaust is not bad at all...

the exhaust actually sounds better after a couple of weeks of riding around.. really nice sounds, not deep enough for most of you, but after spending over $6000 on audio perfection, I did NOT want a deep, growling, droning exhaust to drown out my classical music! But i think if one were to cut out the resonator on this, and replace it with either a different resonator, or a stright pipe, then replace the tips... for about $400 total, I think this exhaust could compete with a borla for sound, if that's what folks are looking for

I'll get some good ones when I have a chance... been moving, caught the flu, and i've been working hard in the lab trying to get back to the East coast, so haven't really dealt much with the car after that sunday meet... but I'll get some new ones up asap...

I think the decision was to vote on it at the Big SOCAL meet in december, that way the OC guys and LA guys can give their input... just so that its not a big mess, we'll probably have a submission with 3 different designs, and folks will vote on those three... otherwise, we'll have about 15 designs...
