no, it is N2O.Nitrous Oxide.NO2 is Nitrous Dioxide, and is the result of a chemical reaction involving loose electrons int he atmosphere.

sure.we can do I-10 across the desert when I'm in SoCal. We're bringing the 240SS a turbo KA, and a bottle fed 2 stage KA.

Haha someone needs to take chemistry. Dont flame if im wrong but it is 2 nitrogen molecules surrounding an oxygen molecule. Because pure oxygen + spark = goodbye. isnt that correct?

Hey Aries, since you know a lot more about this than I do. I refill my bottle at this pro street guys shop for around $40. Anyways, this guy on campus asked me how much I pay for a refill and after my response this dude tells me that I should go to another place because its $8 cheaper and the guy will freeze the bottle to squeeze in 2-3 extra lbs. of nitrous. This guy full of ****? I can't see squeezing anymore nitrous into the bottle a good idea.

N20 (aka nitrous oxide or dinitrogen monoxide) is a molecule containing 2 nitrogen atoms bonded to one oxygen atom to form a linear molecule. Here's a pic (nitrogen-purple, oxygen-red)

God I'm brilliant... ;)

N2O is correct, but the bonding is different than pictured. It's one oxygen molecule surounded by two nitrogen molecules. The nitrogen molecules surroung the oxygen molecule to keep it cold when it combusts. If not for the Nitrogen molecules, your engine would blow up.

Nitrous is very cool in my book. My friends and I have been using it since 97, long before the F&F blasphemy. My buddy ran a 160 shot wet in his KA convertible 240, and he owned so many Mustangs and Camaros, it wasn't even funny.

If you are going to use it, make sure you take these steps...-retard timing-use only high octane-for the 240s, we found that squeezing before the mass gave the most gains-don't use platinum plugs, use iridium, and make sure they are a couple steps colder-use a bottle heater, it keeps the pressure and nitrous flow consistant-I also recommend using a W.O.T. switch to activate the nitrous-Never squeeze for longer than 15 seconds-an ignition system is highly recommended (MSD, Crane, etc.)

a basic NOS kit for 500 dollars, with some bolt on will propel a KA into the high to mid 13s. You can squeeze 100 shot into a KA all day long.

we always freeze the bottles.it allows you to get a little more nitrous in the bottle, and the bottle doesn't get hot. When the bottles get really hot durring a fill you run the risk of blowing the pressure cap ($50 mistake).

The going rate for nitrous lately has been $3.50-$3.75 in most parts of the US.

Id rather have all my power without having to worry about running out and having to get a refill, or doing damage to my motor. but personally I believe that aftermarket turbo and super chargers shouldnt be used on stock internals for the most part, as nitrous oxides shouldnt either. Also nitrous just feels like cheating to me, I dont know why, just takes the fun away from it, its like your car isnt really that fast. You just spent 500$ so that your car can be fast sometimes. Only thing I think it should be used for is to spool turbos faster, and sedate patients at dental offices. Its kind of like a cheat code in video games, OH CRAP IM LOSING! BETTER HIT THE NITROUS! you know? Also the only practical application for it in motorsports that I know of is dragracing or other types of straight line racing. And Im not that into drag racing, so...

And on a side note, stop telling people, "ITS NOT NOS! ITS NITROUS OXIDE" .. are you telling me you next call tissue kleenex? Kleenex is a company, that makes tissue, but it is a very popular company and has a memorable name, so the name stuck and people call tissue, kleenex now.

Good point! It's the same thing with Band-Aid...
