And what I gathered from another site it seems like theres a "polluter pays" law in effect that this site falls under, which means it doesnt get federal funding to help clean the area. So this could be our in if the company is hurting for money and a bunch of "kids" show up saying we wanna pay to use the lot they might bite.
Some good things about the lot is its fenced in with one main gate, its been repaved not too long ago and there isnt many obsticals (I.E light poles islands)
I read through the EPA website and it says that the Hellertown Manufacturing Company site is being cleaned up by the government.
"Site ResponsibilityThis site is being addressed through Federal actions."
The company responsible for the damage went bankrupt in 2001.
"Consent Decree negotiations between EPA and the potentially responsible parties, Federal-Mogul Corporation and Paikes Enterprises, Incorporated, for reimbursement of past cleanup costs and the takeover of the remediation work ended when Federal-Mogul declared bankruptcy on October 1, 2001."
So my question is: Is there anyone there now? If so, how do we contact them? The people you listed are EPA contacts, not owners of the site, right?
Has anyone been to this area to see what's there?
I'm going to check out the lot in North Jersey this Sunday (maybe Saturday) since it's relatively close to me. Let me know if anyone else wants to come.
kireiS14: Welcome. I was looking at your website. It looks like you've been in several drift events. Do you know anything about how events are typically organized and what type of costs, insurance, license, waivers, etc. are involved? The only real info we have right now is about the cost/insurance/license necessary to do autocross.
