dafridgea, nice car. But V6? Boo. Haha, at least it's a manual. Try to find an empty parking lot to practice in. There are a few spots around NJ, but nowhere that's secluded enough to practice for a long time. And come out to Club Loose events this year. The first event should be in April although the schedule hasn't come out yet. clubloose.com

Sam, wire wheel on grinder is the best for seam sealer removal. Burning works well also, haha. Let me know how the sandblasting works out.

Roll cage is almost done thanks in part to Eulises, the human tube notcher.

Good luck to anyone that crashes into my door .

Wow thats a crazy cage..did you mock up around a seat. Looks a tad wide then again hard to tell. I doubt you running stock seats, bucket will be a tad wider upper shoulder bolster area. Looks good overall though..Any chance you can fab a harness bar or a rear strut bar.

Where are you planning on doing the sandblasting? You should get that CO2 media stuff. It evaporates so no mess to clean up afterwards. Bring on the suburban.

The cage curves out right up to the door. There's about a quarter inch of clearance between cage and door. There's plenty of clearance for the seat.

I could build you a harness bar or strut bar... why not just do a 4-pt cage? haha. But not doing any work at least for a couple of months. And might have to sell tube bender after that to help pay for hundreds of tires.

Ahh gotcha hard to tell from pic, nice work :I have a 3 pt strut/shock tower bar (s14) already except the piping is thin. I wanted to make a beefier one like r32s. Well I looked into a 4pt autopower and it got pricy with shipping costs. I'm just going to be doing some entry autocrossing and probably drifting since my buddies all drift. damn peer pressure You might know a few of them actually. They suggested a ebay/etc/ basic harness bar but they looked a bit flimsy to me. (Rather run stock seat belt with bucket seat) So I'd rather get a beefier harness bar done instead, faster to mock up I figure as well. I just gotta think it over loose my rear interior panels. If your going to be wrenching, If you don't mind I'd like to check out your setup etc. I can wrench

For autocrossing and "solo" drifting, an ebay harness bar would be fine. With a bucket seat, you won't really be able to use the stock seat belt because the side supports on most seats are too high. So I would either do a harness bar or basic 4-pt (no x-bars or stupid stuff).

As far as the rear strut bar, I wouldn't mess with it since S14s are pretty stiff, especially in the rear since it's a coupe design. (I assumed you were driving an S13 hatch like everyone else... heh).

If you're not in a hurry, then talk to me in a couple of months and maybe I could build something for you. Never did a harness bar before, so that might be cool to build, but need to find some time. Otherwise, do autopower or ebay. Contact Slidewayz about the autopower. Maybe you won't have to pay shipping if you get it through them.

You can stop by whenever if you want to check out the car (although there's not much to check out right now... it's just a bare shell... but should be putting it back together in a few weeks). I'm in the garage almost every weeknight and all day weekends. Just give me a call before (201-562-5770).

2.5"!!!

Dude, that's what they build monster truck cages from. Are you using that for a cage or to build something else?

I have to ask Frank. I forgot the name of the place. Or you can just call Slidewayz. They went and picked it up for me.

miro.. i actually jus got more tubing form my school. i think this one is 2" or smaller.. does that mean even if it si larger than 2" i can't use it? or it'll be too heavy or hard.. plus.. i'm making a minimal amount cage for the vert. just the main hoop behind the seat, 2 bars to the back and a cross hoop bar.

The bender only takes 1.75" tubing; no more, no less. The die is shaped to perfectly match the tube. Any other diameter won't work. The tube will get f*cked. If you really want to bend 2" tubing, you can buy another die and use it with my bender. A die is like $300 (tricktools.com). I think they make them up to 2.25".

Saturday is fine. Make sure you have your measurements down and know what angles you're bending. Also make sure you bring a tube long enough. A main hoop for a 240 requires about a 9-foot tube, so get a 10-foot piece to be safe.

Marc, sorry for missing your last 5,000 calls. I usually can't pick up the phone at work. Also, I didn't understand much of your last message, sounded like you had bad reception. Anyway, if you're not exactly sure what you want to do for the car, take a look at this (scroll down): http://www.clubloose.com/clubl...=1153. This is the ideal vert cage, in my opinion.

You mean more notching, cutting, welding... ...Here we go again. All I can say Marc is bring some leather gloves...hahahaa...Miro, you know why. Still had freakin' light burn marks the next day from the notching...lol

Eulises, we're not building Marc's cage, and he's not building it in the garage. I'm just letting him use the tube bender to bend the main hoop for a 4-pt cage.

Lol about the burn marks. Good thing is that even though the cut-off wheel cuts through skin very well, it doesn't cut bone so well. So you might get some nasty cuts, but you probably won't lose any fingers.

Well I found a local shop in north jersey that sells/makes harness bars. Stable energies going to check it out sometime soon. I'll check out sidewayz as well been meaning to check it that shop out. Yep, s14 here,,, I do prefer a s13 hatch though but will eventually pick one up in the future. As for the rear strut bar its the only one made to sit between shock tower inside trunk, not above rear deck(speakers). It should be fairly easy to make, no bends just cuts/welding. I just want a beefiest bar then again I could live with it. Maybe a little help mocking up http://home.comcast.net/~kfl007/sell/bar.jpg

Saw the clubloose, going to be nuts this year. I'll be out there video taping and helping out. And probably hit up weds events, see what my pos s14 can do with me driving.

We'll see about the strut bar. Nobody makes one that attaches the actual strut towers?

Yeah. I think they're going to announce more events also, these are just the confirmed ones so far. It's going to be nuts with the weekend events. 48 hours of drifting. YES.

Nope none makes that kind of strut bar anymore. That was from CP I got from a local guy back in 02 or so with my 1st s14. Everyone sells the top rear strut bar which is pointless as speaker/deck area is pretty solid.

Yeah, pretty nuts,, I got hd video camera, 3batteries good for 9hours. Yeah there is no mention of a clinc but I'm sure they'll have that for noobs like me.
