Leave your post/pic up & I'll edit in a different pic for post #5 on page 1.

I just got back from checking out an XJ6.

The headlamps are different, especially the lenses.

XJ6 headlamps have a lip to the top of the lense, its not as flush as the President headlamps are.(ie,..the top half of the XJ6 headlamp comes out before it comes down)

On a sidenote , took chinaonnitrous's post to heart and registered on Rinkya. Now I just need to find something to buy to test it out.

Oops! I forgot about the Audi. Yep the Sovereign and President Type D have a 119.3 inch wheelbase just like the one in your sig anlasak. The Type D also has those front fender mounted mirrors. Ugh! The President JS Types G and L as well as the US spec G50 roll on the 113.4 inch spread.http://members.aol.com/Ayakosst/president.htm

This moderate stretch and others like it must be something special from Nissan and/or coachbuilt.

It appears the F50 President, Cima and Q45 all have the same 113.0 inch wheelbase. I've yet to see a LWB F50.

BTW IMHO, the best looking XJ Jags are the SWB 95-03 models with the supercharged V8 XJR as my favorite.

Can you imagine the status Infiniti would have today if they had released the original Q45 as a duplicate of the President?

This makes me want to VIP my car...

Absolutely!!!

Ev_eezy, feel free to read my reply in this posthttp://forums.nicoclub.com/zerothread?id=77341

The rear door panel switches is one of the many rear passenger gadgets that was available on the LWB G50 President. I really wish that I could do what I stated in this post.

Some say that President is cheap RR knock off according to other tread linked above but hey the real reason why it never made it to US is quite different. The President costs over 9,000,000 Yen = ~ $90,000 USD. It wouldn't sell no mater how nice and well made the car is, "it's Nissan!!" Also Nissan would never sell these prestige sedan at dumping price just to compete in US market, it would be disgrace to their top of the line model (also high manufacturing costs), probably same reason why top of the line Toyota "Century" which costs over $120,000 never made it to US market. That's why we got cheaper version of the President (G50 Q45) in US.

Toyota Century, V12, $120,000 super luxury sedan.

I bet that you could get an older, used G50 President shipped over here for peanuts. I'm surprised no one's done a full-on conversion yet.

So long as you can legally get the car here, you wouldn't actually be doing anything illegal per se to your car, given that the drivetrain is still the same.

Honestly, if you parted out the stock Q parts afterward, it might even approach a break-even proposition. Many of those JDM exporters let older cars go CHEAP, especially when they aren't high-demand cars (i.e. Silvia K's or GT-R's).

HashiriyaS14 - I think the lkast persont hat looked into having just a President front clip/sheet metal shipped over got a quote of just over $4500 for one in good condition (or add $$ for a repaint) ... can't recall if that had the motor in it or not .

There is a Q regular in Canada that is importing some cars (nasty Z32TT, now a SKyline) and he was looking into it as well.

It just seems finacially prohibitive to get a President FE to the states . It may actually be cheaper to import an entire workling car and then part everything out ... oh crap here's Wes' next project .

Excellent thread!

Question: where does the lengthening occur in the LWB version? is a door longer somewhere? A pillar wider? I can't see it at all...

I have to say that of all the car behinds I've seen (and I've seen a lot), the G50 President's is a frontrunner for all-time-best. Minimal, but it makes an excellent statement. This picture is amazing:

You would have to have the trunklid from the President

Being new here, I've been reading all kinds of threads on a variety of Q topics. One thread I found had a link to a Japanese auction site. They had older Presidents going for some cheap money ($700-2000). I'm guessing thats due to the taxes on older cars in Japan.

Anyway, one of the other threads had a link to Yahoo! Auctions Japan. I found a couple body kits cheap ($300). The problem is that nobody ships out of Japan. I get the impression that is where the expense is. As it turns out, another web site I play around with (www.japan-partner.com) lists a shipping price of $2500 for a 20' container to the West coast. It seems to me that something like that would hold a large assortment of body kits, trunk lids, front clips, in addition to a complete car. Just a thought.....

Its not a bad idea, but for it to be worthwhile you would have to fill the container full. As well as the car itself

Shipping is the biggest cost though.(Especially for me down here in the Southeast)

Oh, and I'm starting the pics again
