Anyone have info on this bumper grille?

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT

On ebay also sold by grille4u which is the Canadian company. Its only about $47. For that price it wouldnt be worth making one. Any have experience with this item? Looking for protection from rocks hitting the a/c condensor. Not crazy about the looks of it, was thinking I could paint it titanium grey to match the bumper. Thanks in advance

Sounds good, will wait to see how you like it. I was able to email the seller and see about getting just the middle piece. It is more money than the grille4u piece, but it sounds like it is better/stronger. One negative of online buying, cant see it to compare it. USA made should be better than a China made piece as well.

Inno,

Looking forward to the install/pics. I am going to hold off on ordering til I hear how you like yours. I may spend the extra money to get the "built stronger" inserts like yours. Also want to see how they look in black, I think painted graphite like the bumper and grille guard might look the best on my SE.

mounted the ground effects tube "over" the running brackets and zap strapped into place, wires were pulled and zapped tight up the driver side fender under the covers and through the tight firewall hole.

You mean zip tied? So how did you connect everything? Did you not solder every connection or just crimp/use butt connectors? BTW those are not ground FX. Those are LED lights, these are ground FX:

Yeah, when I think of ground effects I think of fiberglass body kits. I would call those LED underbody lighting.

Billy,

That your Vette? Nice and clean. Nose is bee u tea full. I searched a long time for one. The noses were always cracked with paint missing. Stock wheels, great color. I am not of fan of the side skirt/ground effects or g round fx or fiber sliders.... But it looks great regardless.

Inno,

Did u ever get the grilles?? Waiting to hear how u like/quality/install before ordering. I am going with black if they have it.

Terminology is different everywhere you go,

Its all plug and play but the plugs are really finnicky so i gotta solder it into the actual "brain" of the lights. everything works but when it decides to be a b**** it needs a little "spanking" to brighten up

And I Zap Strapped it.

My dad put the Ground FX on when he had it painted back in '83. The nose is actually pretty jacked up, you just can't see it in that photo. I plan on replacing both front and back bumper covers with fiberglass ones because the stock plastic ones flexed and caused the paint to crack/bubble. It'll just have to get a whole new paint job if it can't be matched.

Ground fx are ground fx and lighting fx are lighting fx. I've never heard the term zap straps but after looking it up it's the same as zip ties. I'm guessing it's either an older term or marketing. It sounds like those connectors suck so you're probably better off soldering everything. Can you dim the lights or are they just on/off?

Billy,

Still a fine ride. Paint jobs are pricey on Vettes (at least out here). Hopefully you can find a place to match them for you.

Re: zip ties, I have never heard the term zap straps either. Must be a marketer on zap-o-phine or some other mind altering drug.... Ground effects is the old school term I am familiar. Lighting effects I am not familiar with at all. Neon tube lights seemed to be popular here years ago along with neon graphics etc. Never got into that--not into fads etc. Neon pink and neon green look good on baby toys, that is it in my opinion. Alot of those lights also were cause for being pulled over, that usually meant ticket time, which usually meant money that could be spent on worthwhile mods etc. DISCLAIMER: I am in no way ripping on anyone who likes that sort of thing, cars, suvs, bikes etc -- do whatever you want to your ride, customization is what makes everyone different etc.

Inno, Thanks for the info, looking forward to your review! Pls post pics of the product before you put them on and after. It sounds like you ordered from Mr Grill here in the States. The rep. there has answered alot of questions and seems like a very sharp shooter. The prices are not as cheap as grille4u but the product is supposed to be alot stronger etc.

got it this morning. and OMG its built pretty freaking solid..... its "heavy" but "light" i need to slash up my stock grille before i can zap strap it....

everything else is "stick and bolt" bracket. The black is pretty nice whatever he painted it with is pretty good cuz needless to say i got happy tore everything out and kinda "stuck" it all in place to kinda see how it looks.... main grille fell to the pavement with a loud clang, no scratches no dents no warp..... it is what it is on the description. Built tough.

fyi im canadian and alot of us "ehers" use the term zap straps... and im also a security guard so when i see a vagrant we go "ZAP STRAP THE f***ER IN THE STAIRWELL AND BEAT HIM WITH A STICK"

no dimming, its on and off switch as well as patterns and light change, selecting colours itll cycle through 16 million colours as the lights change it goes through different shades, so on so forth. and yeah ill get to soldering it when i have time but right now its not a main concern.... it works it works just buggy.... the Grille is what i need to put together

Inno,

Good to hear-I think I am going to place my order in the next few days. If you can post a few pics I would appreciate it!

Side note, the zap strap term is starting to grow on me!

yeah i asked all my coworkers (al canadians) and we have NEVER used the term as Zip Tie.... we all know it as Zap Straps.. cuz in a sense.. they are straps... and they "zap" the f***er that we put it on. (shocks them cuz when we do it we say some pretty horrific things into their ear as they finaly understand that my mall is not a place to f*** around in)

Thanks for the pics with the lights. I had misinterpreted 'Ground Effects' as being more like carbon fiber bumper and side skirts. The lights look good non the less (maybe the wheel well part needs some work or it could be just the pics didn't come out too good for those)

Those black grill looks sick!....I certainly wouldn't mind grabbing a set for myself

Inno,

Appreciate the pics. How do the bumper inserts attach? The bumper opening is open (nothing to attatch to with "zap straps", the cheaper grilles look like they attatch with "L" brackets. Cant tell from the pics how it attatches. Gonna hold off and wait to order until your reviews. Thanks, quality lloks good! Color is what I am looking for.

Looks exactly like mine they give little "L" brackets, you need to attach them to either side of the bumper in the space provided its really very simple.

yeah, L brackets that need to be drilled. and if you have LE then you have to hack up that middle grille part which im not looking forward to..... still trying to figure out how im going to do it and causing the least damage

Are you talking about the upper grille?

If so I just popped the emblem off and I was good to go I have an LE and didn't have to modify anything other than adding "L" brackets where needed.
