SO it has turbo seat belts?

Wouldn't that give you a sweet skin burn?

I wish the kid, near me would plaster his amazing Condition vg30 S12 on here. I think he paid like $900 for it, from some guy who had a drunk lady abandon it in his yard.

Too bad they didn't do anything worth watching in that video.

Burnouts are cool wheel tires blow but that's about it.

Couldn't resist Ever seen a Corolla do this with the factory engine?http://www.streetfire.net/vide...1.htm

Anyhoo, I've owned 3 S12's so far but only one Corolla. It's tough but I would have to go with the S12. partially because I can fit into an S12.

You can call me a fanboi all you want but I still voted Toyota.

I've liked them ever since I saw a gold one (IIRC it was a coupe) on widened steelies that was owned by some old guy in California in some magazine back around y2k. I'd never heard of of that generation then and was impressed by its bang for the buck. Then Initial D hit our shores and any hope of ever owning one for a reasonable price went out the window.

I have to say that the hatchback AE85-AE86 look better than the coupes do. I see a coupe and i can't help but think that something is missing on it.

Nothing fanboi'ish about common sense. Pound for pound, the 86 is a much better car. Better motor, better handling, better balance, better interior, etc.

My 86 would easily squash a comparably built S12 on a circuit/autox. This is not bragging as I dont boast about my cars or my driving. It's just fact.

I used to own an S12 - with the CA20e (the one with dual plugs and more wires under hood than any car I've owned before or since)

I almost got my hands on an S110 with the Z22E engine and H190 rear axle...

I've always preferred the wider lower stance of the 88 200SX, with the LSD, and Hicus (yeah mine had the Hicus rear) it would be a drifters dream car -

Mine unfortunately had more electrical problems than I had money to fix, so off it went... (course I bought another Nissan ... but that is for another posting in another section)

The S12 never came with HICAS anywhere, so I don't know what you are talking about.

Also, as for better motor, I'd call the FJ a much better motor than anything Toyota put into the AE86, so that is false.

true that.

the 4A is a nice motor...but it's not an FJ.

as for the offerings we got here, yeah, the 4A wins.

Yes, of the offerings we got here, the 4A is the MUCH better choice.

In terms of 4A vs FJ; One motor powers the FA open wheel series while other the does nothing these days (and hasn't done anything in the grand scheme of things). One motor was mass produced in everything from Corollas to Geos while the other was not cost efficient to make (then again, Nissan was coming up to a period where EVERYTHING was not cost efficient to make). Yes, yes, yes, you had your FJ24 that had a very so/so run in the WRC for 2-3 years, but this motor was so far from what was available to the public that it has nothing to do with the S12's FJ vs 4A.

im a fan of both...never driven either. as far as looks, the 8-6 is slightly more appealing. i'm still not seeing why both cars can't be appreciated equally for what they offer.

yes...yes...blame F1 for the downfall of the FJ..well, sorta.

They decided to ban turbocharging and with that, Nissan didn't put too much more effort in the FJ.

the 4A is still an excellent little motor though...the FA motors are freakin' sweet...and what, 15k now? or are they still around 10?

the Corolla has a much more sure and rigid feel to it...and lighter.

they really are like Go karts and save for rust issues which plague nearly everything from that era, are well put together cars.

if it weren't for the drift tax on them, I'd love to own one. For the price people ask I think I'd much rather get a decent E30.

the best part of the S12 is the dirt cheap prices when you find them...and the ability to use some of the S13 and 14 front suspension. They can be cheap fun...even if they can't get out of their own way with the crap CA engines.

I cannot say which one i like more, other than base it on looks alone, i have driven a stock and modifed ae86, and unfortunately not the s12but the trueno did not really gain all it's fame from Initial D, let's not forget that it really gained its fame world wide from tsuchiya, and the fact that Japan had used to have ae86 drivers from all over Japan compete
