Good Day folks.
All apologies for bumping a semi old thread, but we all enjoy some good photography chat.

I recently maxed out my flickr (and didn't feel like buying pro). I use Google for bulk online storage currently, and have a new NAS waiting for a gateway and some programming but soon may just host a site, as these high res images are quite large. But the real reason I was there is looking over EXIF data for lenses and post production, for the Canon setup I have been growing, and the direction I would like to take it in.

My current setup is a Rebel XS with a kit included 18-55 f3.5 USM.
Ziekos filters
Sun Sniper over the shoulder strapI really like having it hang over the hip, especially in crowds.
Cat6 SDHC 16G cards (I shoot only in raw)

Just picked up a 50mm f1.8, after a really long day at work. I plan to use the nifty fifty
Next one is looking like a Sigma 10-20mm f3.5 (http://www.amazon.com/Sigma-10-20mm-EX- ... &sr=1-3)or the 17-85mm Canon (http://www.amazon.com/Canon-17-85mm-4-5 ... 23&sr=1-13).

This is what I typically shoot.

Currently my bag is a little light. I really love my Rebel XS, and see no need to upgrade currently. I like a more artsy (never thought I'd own that, ha) type shot the lower end models are good for. So I am planning on some new glass. Hoods and filters are also on the menu. A travel tripod and remote release might make it into my Amazon shopping cart if a good enough deal comes up.

I'm looking for something designed for wide angle scenery shots and low light no flash indoor shots. Last year I lost a few good shots because of my lack of wanting flash washed out shots. I really do not care for the look of direct light on a subject. But, I do not want to carry a speedlight around.

This is what I was thinking of strapping to my over the shoulder strap, for when the moment fits. Anyone have any experience or advise?

How I spent my weekend
Did a couple small hikes around pinkham before hiking up to the shelters at hermit lake in tuckermans

We stayed in the leanto over night then woke up and ice climbed up tuckermans summited washington and went back down. Ate lunch at lions head and tried to hide from the 40-60mph winds. Hiking above tree line yesterday was brutal took my camera out for a couple shots once digging through my pack was not an option. Temps were around 18-20 degrees before wind chill Add those winds and it was easily around -10-15. Amazing day views were incredible 200 miles plus.

I really like those...with the exception of the snow...too soon.

I've only accended Mt. Washington via the cog railway and that was partially arduous. Kudos sir.

I've been looking for this thread and haven't been able to find it. Forgot that I should have searched for "Photographers" and not "Photography."

Here's a few shots from NY Botanical Garden a few weeks ago:
Image

A close-up of that flower; not quite pleased with the framing of it.

These were from its Japanese exhibit; don't know if it's still going.

There's a bunch of nice shots from the Rose Garden, but my camera's batteries had died (...or maybe I forgot to charge them), and I used my wife's Nokia point-and-shoot. A few came out really good, but my wife didn't put them on her Facebook yet, so I can't link to them here.

Snapped this photo with my phone (Droid Incredible) last spring when walking through the neighborhood. I should go back next spring with my DSLR and see if I can get a better pic. (Par 3 Forest Creek Golf Course)

Well I recently dropped a decent amount of money on new body and lens. Thought I would try taking some shots of the moon tonight and this is the outcome. I am pretty pleased with the results.

Stunning. That's a heck of a crater in the south. I love the lines going out away from it.

Now I want a tripod.

Ack! What lens did you use to capture Jupiter!? I'm intrigued.

I'm actually going to plunk down some cash-money on the new Pentax K5 body. My K10D has served me long enough and is incredibly outdated and has crappy IQ/high ISO capability compared to what's on the market now. In the meantime, these are some recent photos I've taken with my old K10D:

Well i hooked my 7d up to a meade etx90 i picked up of CL for stupid cheap. For that shot i didn't spend any time setting up the mount to auto track. That was also only one exposure. I plan on taking 30 or so 30 second exposures once i get around to setting up my mount to auto track. Then i can work on getting the moons in there as well.
