Windows XP SP2

http://www.microsoft.com/downl...ng=en

272391 KB

its slowly being rolled out onto windows update. i think they are slowly adding IP ranges that auto update, so all the computers with automatic updates enabled dont all try to download at once.

if your up to date with the patches, the download from windows update will be MUCH smaller. [40-70 MB]

And your profile is brand new. In fact, it was created right after the hacking incident. So.... thats not really going to benefit your credbility.

You know what I'm thinking. And I know what youre doing. It doesnt have to be spoken. Just know that.

just so you guys know, there is a compatibilty issue with norton anti virus, where SP2's security center complains about not being able to verify that NAV is up to date.

that will set off an alert. just click the box that says you will monitor the anti virus.

in newer versions of anti virus that will have SP2 compatibility, the security center will alert you when the virus definitions get out of date.

NAV works fine, windows security center just cant verify that the definitions are up to date, and it complains about it.

checking the box below the warning in security center makes it stop complianing.

ill check your AV

there are no known compatibility issues with sophos AV, so the virus definition monitoring may work correctly.

yeah, norton is a major hog if you leave it to its own devices.

i only use NAV, not the whole symantec package.

NAV 2003 pro, with the norton file protection disabled.

its the file protection that kills, if you disable it it runs so much better.

with the protection enabled, practically half of the time it takes to boot is because of norton.

See thats the thing, sophos does the same thing as norton, but so much quicker.

Edit: It doesn't do that damn annoying norton protected recycle bin bull****. God I hate that.

the sophos site says its doing the same thing as NAV as far as the out of date alert goes.

the AV will continue to work, windows will just complain.

tell it to be quiet.

I used to use AVG antivirus, but they didnt update it frequently enough and it wasnt effective and removing viruses. It was free though, better than nothing I guess.
