This thread is 2 years old, but what the heck. Here is my 55 gallon cichlid setup. I have a Red Devil and a Jack Dempsey. When they get bigger I'm planning on buying something bigger to put them in, but for now, it's big enough. All I have right now is some crappy cell phone pics, but I can get some better ones if anyone wants. The jack dempsey wouldn't turn out very good with the cell, but he is mostly black with blueish green spots all down his sides. And the tips of his fins are red. He's turning out to be beautiful fish, IMO. Pics:

I tried to get the whole thing in it:

Both fish:

The cave was used for a pleco I had, but he died so it's no longer in there. I bought some fake wood in place of it that they can hide in. It's in the first pic on the left:

I wish I had a good pic of the jack dempsey, but I will get one soon and post it up if anyone wants to see it. Whats everyone think? I'm open to all comments/suggestions.

Okay, the arowana jumped out and died. She was burly enough to knock the 5# weight off the plexi lid, and that was the end of her.

I bought a Butterkoferi and grew her until she was about 16" long. She became very expensive to feed, so I gave her away. Plus you couldn't have any other fish with her, because she would murder them. Didn't eat them, just killed them. If I have any pics of her saved (they would be on the other computer), I'll post them tomorrow.

About three months ago, I bought a baby red tail barracuda and a really awesome pleco. I'll snap some pics and post those tomorrow as well.

I have no pictures of my past set ups. I used to have a fully planted fresh water setup with co2 injection. Went on a trip came home to find out the power went out and my back up never turned on. It was a mess

^ that sucks big time.

I've got CO2 on this and dose dry ferts for the plants. I've got java fern, some fissidens moss, dwarf sag, big chunk of water lettuce, and I'm not sure on the species of the other plants in there.

The fish are zebra danios (successfully breeding!), one neon gourami (had two but one died from dropsy), siamese algae eaters, bolivian rams, black phantom tetras, and a couple of otos. Plus several types of ramshorn snails, and a slim possibility there's a couple red cherry shrimp hanging out in there somewhere.

Here's a pic. I can't get the lighting how I like it without having too high of a shutter time and blurring the fish so....

When my dad was a kid he and his 3 brothers had tanks with electric eels and piranhas, pretty crazy. I think even back them they were illegal to keep.

Here's a few pics from my old tank, I'm waiting to setup either a really aggressive fish only 250 or a tank with a massive chiller and all local so-cal fish and inverts. And you can't forget the juvenile Garibaldi (California state fish, Mexican caught which somehow makes it legal).

It's the intake tube for my canister filter.

Empty, nice pics there.I went freshwater because it's a bit easier, but saltwater tanks are awesome.

Sorry no tank there, those are underwater pics I took while diving. I wouldn't try to keep slugs in a tank because they're extremely hard to keep alive and, like anemones, they release a toxin when they die which can kill almost anything.

If you dig that stuff I evolved into shooting underwater video about 2 years ago. Here's a link to my first and only "publicly released" vid: Hawaii January 2008

Well they're not that expensive but I've never had any success keeping anemones alive. And when they die your whole tank crashes if you don't get them out immediately. I would always see one in a shop and buy it even though I knew it wasn't going to end well.

I'm guessing glass? How old is the tank? It sounds like you're getting cheap s***, no offense. I think for my next one I'll build my own acrylic.

I know a few people who have done the Spiegel Grove. I remember that crazy incident where the 4 dudes silted out and only 3 survived. One of these days I'll get down there for that one. If you could find the pics I'd be stoked to see em. I'm sure everyone else would be as well.
