Yeah I have a Rose Hair Tarantula, and I love her. I'm trying to get her a male but their so hard to come by for some reason.

Especially since every where you go they have a lot of them but their still not passed the stage of maturity to tell.

Hopefully someone will have one at a swap meet im trying to attend next week ...

wait wait wait, hold the **** up....when you change the water you don't take out all?God damn. you mean my dad had me do all that work for nothing? My fish would've probably lasted longer too I'm gonna go google up the proper procedure unless you'd like to tell me how you change it...

So, what type of vegetation is that I see in the amano/ADA tanks? where can I get some? I love it! how it covers the bottom of the tank and rocks, ...I am SO getting a small tank when I move into my appt. Keep the tips and suggestions coming guys. this thread ROCKS.

depends on the fish you have, if its goldfish, i tell everyone do remove the most water possible. i do recommend routine mainenance to be 20% or so of the water, for serious issues 50-60% very rarely do any more then that, as the new water being slightly or greatly different in ph, temp, or any other parameter can kill the fish if you remove too much.

most of the plants in that photo are grasses and moss i think, but google up takashi amano.

I guess I can tell my dad why the fish always died.... but yeah, all the amano stuff I found was in japanese lol. I'll do some more searching though. I will not give up!

so, my dream of a wall sized saltwater tank is going to be very expensive eh? but the larger the easier the maintenance right? No probs. I'm soon gonna be filthy stinking rich:D.

I wouldn't even know what to call those fish we had. We caught them in ponds by our airport. if you manage to keep them good they actually grow to like 3-4 inches from 1/2 1/4 of an inch.

dunno if they'd grow any bigger cuz they dieddddddddd...and yes, we had colored gravel and plastic plants...and I hated that crap...

Sw tanks are not cheap, but if/when they are done right, its totally worth the money

they can even get you laid

just try to budget stuff first and ask questions BEFORe you buy anything. know the fish you want to have and their max sizes and size the tank and equipment to handle it and youll be fine.

kinda like buying autozone performance bolt ons spend the real money to make your life easier in the long run

It was when the pics were taken. Now it has some plants and soon to add some wood.

Only problem is that the tank had not cycled and the nitrite level was 10+ ppm. So Atilla is now staying in the fish hotel. The place where I bought him, offered to place him in one of their tanks for a few weeks while the tank cycles through.

I bought some Tropical Science Nitromax, and I'm adding that as per the directions. Hopefully the nitrites will be low in the next week or so, after the bacteria growth builds up.

if only you were closer, id send you some good cycled stuff :P

ask your fish store for an old filter from one of their tanks that is still being used, drop that behind your filter and give it a few days, voila, cycled tank.

I love the old filter trick... Thats why I run two filters on my tank. It allows for a quick hospital tank or quarantine tank...

hey guys, i just picked up a small tiger barb, and a cherry barb today, so now my whole 10gl. tank contains a large tiger barb, a small tiger barb, and cherry barb, a molly, and a platy. I should be fine right? not going to crowd the tank am I? also, and tips or tricks when adding new fish? I added alittle stress salt, the new tiger barb seems fine, but the cherry barb hides and is very "inactive" so should I just wait it out so it gets use to its new home, or should I be doing something, also I added a blue background, and I love my tank now, looks amazing

barbs can be fairly agressive, watch and see if the cherry barb lives or dies, the hiding is a potential sign of dying. or just of overly stressed. i wouldnt add any more fish to the system, just enjoy what you got.

5ppm. Still at the fishy hotel, and waiting for it to drop. At least when the water is finally cycled, my stingrays and pleco should be in.

I have a questions to you people that use sand for gravel.....when you clean your tank with the hose to pick up the poop doesn't it also pick up the sand? How do you clean your tanks?

hold the gravel vac about 2 inches from the sand and use something to gently stir the sand to release the detritus, or just use a powerhead to blow the sand out of the way with the gravel vac nearby to try and catch as much detritus as possible.

Yep, I dropped her filter in the bottom of my sump filter a week and a half ago. Monday the water was at 0ppm, and Atilla came home. He is still a little stressed, and hasn't eaten yet, but most likely will tonight or tomorrow.

My rays should be in within the next week or two. I am having a hard time finding a pleco that is both beautiful, and will get big enough to not be eaten by Atilla when he gets older.

As to me saying "rays" instead of "ray", I can get two for $120, or one for $100. So I'll get two, and if they both grow up healthy, and overcrowd the tank, I'll sell one. If one dies, I have a back-up, and if they both stay healthy, and aren't overcrowding the tank, I'll keep both of them.

I don't want a common pleco though. I was hoping to find something really colorful, that will also grow large. It's hard to say which one, since most are described as an "L**", and not named. I think an L27 is the one that I liked, but a PITA to find at a reasonable price.
