ok...lemme clear a few things up here...im the first sponsored D2 car in america...(its on the front page of http://www.d2racing.com..the main website is almost finished and will be up very soon...im waiting on a few photographs from D2 right now for display purposes on the site)...i have been using D2s suspension rigourously for the last 3-4 months...and i am QUITE happy with them...ive beat the holy CRAP outta these dampers over the last few months (i was asked to do it) and guess what...they feel as stiff and responsive as the day i put them on the car (i even had a misshap with a curb one night drifting on the streets...guess what...the damper was FINE)

K-Sport is NOT D2 Racing Sports...(take note of what im about to say)

K-SPORT BUYS ALL THEIR SUSPENSION PARTS FROM D2 RACING SPORTS, REPAINTS THEM, AND SELLS THEM UNDER THEIR NAME!!!! D2 RACING SPORTS HAS BEEN SINCE 1997 AND HAS BEEN MAKING SUSPENSION FOR MAJOR RACING CIRCUIT CARS IN ASIA AUSTRALIA AND EUROPE FOR QUITE A WHILE NOW. K=SPORT AGAIN IS NOT PART OF D2 RACING SPORTS!!!

now that ive cleared that up...please dont discredit the D2 dampers...i read that someone was having a problem with one of their dampers adjustment knobs...the internal shock may be slightly damaged...if you have to FORCE something into place...that generally means it is not functioning correctly...you should have contacted D2 about it the instant the problem occured...we do offer rebuilds and replacements on our suspension products...also each set of dampers comes with a warranty card that can be filled out and sent in for a full replacement warranty on the dampers

i have also noticed that people have been complaining about the rear ends being too low on certain applications...please note that any coilover setup you buy requires a bit of tuning...its not just slappy slappy...every car sits differently and therefore there is no stock setting you can have for sending coilovers...the coilovers height adjustability is very simple and very easy to adjust...turn the BOTTOM OF THE DAMPER (the actual hub mount)...do not adjust the spring perches until you have the car 90% of where you want it...adjusting the spring perches will cause un needed spring travel when the car springs upwards (after you hit a bump)...this will create a lot of noise from the dampers as the spring will move around and constantly reseat itself on the mount and perches...no damper ive seen is outta the box slappy slappy go on the car perfect height...coilover/dampers are big boy suspension...when you play with big boy suspension you need to put the big boy pants on and learn to tune yer suspension setup a bit (not being rude but learning how to tune suspension is a good thing to know...especially if you plan on drifting or track racing)

so again...please dont discredit the D2s as some cheap damper...the only reason why they are being sold as cheap as they are at the moment is because we are a new company in AMERICA (not the rest of the world)...D2s commonly sell for $1100+ in asia and australia...as the company has just opened its american doors...we can afford at the moment to sell these dampers a bit cheaper than the rest...but be assured by next year at this time...these dampers wont be so cheap anymore...the rest of the D2 product line is on its way to america as well (new parts begin coming out in november and decemeber...the full line of D2 parts will be available by spring of next year)...there are PLENTY of S chassis (S13 / S14 / S15) parts on the way including adjustable rear upper control arms...adjustable traction rods...adjustable tension rods...fuel cells....gear and engine oil...radiator hoses etc etc

if you should have ANY questions about D2 products please dont hesistate to contact me over AIM at Lucifers Bathory or by email at [email protected] and i will answer your questions in a timely and orderly manner

This is weird...just like crzycav said, I also emailed them when the 1st groupbuy was going on, and their response was that they are d2 coilovers marketed for other countries (ie. japan). This makes sense seeing how they also stock k-sport. They never said anything about a 2nd company or daughter company rebadging them. Why would they lie I wonder..??

Maybe it was one of those lost in translation type things?

I don't really see what difference it makes. They're the same coilovers spec-wise. That hasn't been refuted. And that's pretty much the only thing that concerns us as consumers.

^^true...however the k-sport seem to be having some deffects from what i've read... Something w/the coils hitting some bad-placed bolts and some clunking sound, and missing top mounts?? How true is that, and did the d2's have the same issue?

Where'd you hear these defects?

The coilovers hitting bad-placed bolts? Don't know what you mean.

Clunking noise? Tighten the top mount nuts, Tighten the camber plate bolts, Tighten damper nut. That's a common problem on any coilover that hasn't been installed properly.

Missing top mounts? I haven't heard of that either.

The issues with the d2 coilovers were summed up in dj_lennon_franz's post.

But yeah, where did you hear of these other defects?

supposedly that bolt's not supposed to be there.

oh..and it's not the pillow mounts, supposedly it's just some coil platform for the coils to rest on...(misread somewhere). Anyway, just read the last 3~4 pages...

well if that's the coil platform and not the top mount then yes, that bolt isn't supposed to be there. the upper spring perch on coilovers is there to hold the spring and allow twisting of the spring, basically it's a washer. keeps it from binding. on my TRD and TEINs they are conical aluminum pieces that act the part. it looks like those coilovers were assembled improperly or didn't know what they were doing installing them. they aren't a complicated piece on the outside. inside and tuning is what makes them complicated. a little common sense will take you a LONG ways with your suspension!!!

good luck guys.

how else are the top mount plates supposed to be attached to the body of the car/strut towers? That bolt (and I'm sure there is another one opposite it that can't be see are the ones that go through the plate and through the bolts holes in the strut towers.... they cannot be just fitted into the mounting plate because there woudln't be enough grip, they would come out... so they have to go through it.

i'm not really sure of the specifics...(i mean I don't see anything wrong w/the picture). That's why I posted the link to the forum where they described the problems...to see if someone could explain what's going on..

what's wrong with the pic.

If you look at the top of the spring you will see a piece of aluminum that acts as a "cap" on the spring. this piece is what seats on the upper pillow mount. as you can see it is on the bolts that hold the pillow mount, and the rest of the coilover, to the car. this piece inbetween the spring and pillow ball mount should be a tapered piece that keeps the spring off of the mount as pictured. not sure why its like that but something is wrong.

as stated by someone above, those bolts aren't supposed to be coming through the plate but they have to so they can attach to the car.
