like a month ago.. yea learning how to drift would be better in a run down hatch BUT the sohc wouldn't push AS much power... you do need a little bit of power to drift... try going DOHC and just doing basic mods

AHHHHH Its day 3 on my quit smoking plan and I have a few more days to go. I'm down to 6 a day right now. I'll probably smoke alot Friday and Saturday because of the beer and golf but Sunday is the day of quiting cold turkey. But dagum I feel like I'm going crazy right now as it is.

Alisha, seems like every time I talk to you, you're going through some sort of setback, at NOPI you said you hadn't even got the car running yet and then not too much later you have an accident, that sucks. A lot of people in here have had that kind of thing going on, but I believe the first time you drive a boosted 240 of your own you'll know it was all worth it! That's how I feel anyway. Just don't lose hope.

Yeah my plan was to just do mild inexpensive mods, weight saving anywhere I can, and get an lsd (which I could use for my S14 as well). I figured I'd paint it myself and however good of a paint job I end up with will be ok. Then, if I end up getting good and don't blow the motor, I'll do more, and eventually swap in the SR from the S14 and throw an RB in the S14.

td5turbo, how expensive are ITB's and what do they bring to the table? Also, I thought an LSD was bad for cornering, can you clarify that for me?

damn brandon, congrats on that, I wish you luck. think of it this way every time you reach for one: what was once cigarette money can now be turned to funds for mods!

Brandon, in case you're wondering why the hell I'm posting this time of day, the van's back brakes have given us a hell of a time this week, and we're waiting on a drum to be turned, then I'll go to work. Plus garage door people are here replacing that piece of crap that was there before. woohoo!

http://www.tweakit.net/shop/pr...d=120h ... ..t=itbYou can use gsx-r itb's and run a megasquirt fuel system for about $900 but a kit will cost around $1200-2200....

As far as the LSD goes, it can only help. A full locker (welded) will make the car grip better, but absolutly death in the rain. A clutch type, 2-way will aid in cornering grip and be less dangerous in he rain, a vlsd is great for a street car with low hp number and a car that doesnt get trashed on alot, a helical/torque bias diff isnt actually an lsd. it basically the exact oposite on an open diff in that it sends power to the wheel with the most grip...like a chinese finger trap basically.

The s15 is a helical so thus it helps the rear grip and literally rotate around corners. When exiting a midspeed turn, i used to roast the inside tire but now the rear just swings in the same arch as the front and pivots around the corner...its awesome!!

so for a drift car (especially a cheap-*** pos like I'm trying to put together) would you suggest a welded diff?

Hey Brandon, if I can get my hands on this hatch and it turns out to be a useable chassis, what do you think about getting Turstin/Guiedo's parts for the coupe and getting both cars up and running?

HELL YEA!

If the car is never going to see the road (like legal roads) and just the track then a welded for sure. They are strong, cheap and by far the most responsive and predictable/controlable due to them always being engauged. In the rain, if you hit a puddle one tire will spin and cause the other to spin and thus you spin out....its like trying to drive on ice while just normally driving down the road (but only when it is wet does it become a large problem).

cool, that's one less part to buy then, I can just get the rear end welded. I just want to get out there and learn how to drift. The main thing I'm going to be looking for when I get the car running is a place to practice. I'm sure people who are good don't get good by paying 75-200 bucks every time they want to hit the track.

well, looks like the $200 hatch went bye-bye before I got a chance to get a trailer to go get it. damnit. damnit damnit damnit. It's alright though, I think I can get what it takes to get this coupe going anyway.

I've had that happen to me once, it sucks badly, but just keep looking the right deal will come along.

In other news I just got my truck sold about 30 min ago, I got $3700 for it. Soon my hatch will be resurrected.

Super ninja edit: James I got the ring off randy's car in an envelope ready to go but I keep forgetting to take it to the post office.

I'll be up that way Friday and Saturday. Well sort of more towards Rock Hill. But I'm far enough that that whole area can be considered "That way".

Wuz up peeps, just checking in with everyone. Looks like we've got a new member on the board. Welcome Tuxedo_guy, nice to have ya on the forum, what cha rollin (or parkin..lol)?

Hey guess what all you wannabe s13 owners, I've got some exclusive news. I met a guy last night that has a pignose for sale for about $500 +/- I haven't seen it, but I'm gonna go see it this weekend to snap a few pics. According to the guy, it looks just like mine but it does have some front end damage. For $500 it doesn't sound like a bad deal but I'll keep y'all posted for anyone that may be interested.

That really sounds like fun, I look forward to the day that I get a private and remote cabin in the woods or maybe even on the beach.
