dude you realize that a hachi roku is an AE86 corolla right and not an MR2? Nice mr-2 anyway. My dad has one that body style.

I think that's cool. You can always get another 240, but how often does the opportunity to own a clean eight-six come along? My cousin did back in HIgh school from like 95 until he sold it while he was in the navy in like 99. Had no idea what he had, and is kicking himself now. Hopefully it's a hatch right? I saw the FC you were thinking of trading for on the other forum and I thought it looked like a good deal (especially with those r32 rims ) but then I saw that it was a slushbox. Did he think you wouldn't notice or something?

Chris I knew that would be a deal breaker when you noticed the shifter! You'd better jump on that hachi before he sobers up! That's a hell of a deal.

I just made an offer to a guy who has a 5 speed 90 hatch who was asking $300, I offered him $200, so yall keep your fingers crossed! It's banged all to hell, and the sohc engine is in pieces, but it's a complete car.

Alisha, welcome back! I hope to see you posting on here more often. It would also be nice to hear that you're going to get your car going again soon! Just about everyone in here's making progress on our projects and even starting new ones, so you should hang around to catch up.

well some bad news....

I think i may have found a place that can put on my tires...BUT i was putting in my S15 hlsd and everything was going fine until me and my buddy went to put the whole thing back into the car. We got the rear studs to go into the subframe BUT as we were torquing them down, they just seemed to never torque more than about 30ft-lbs and the fsm calls for about 80ft-lbs. I think we either stripped the threads or snapped the studs....I am amazingly pissed right now!!! geez, what to do!?!

back the luggs off and make sure that the studs are properly in place, if they are try again!! you may need longer studs of maybe some ET lugs.

Huh?

The bolts just turn loosly now but dont come completely off. Its not the wheel studs, its the studs on the back of the differential...on the rear cover (four). Now I need to figure out how to get them out because they (the bolts) wont engauge and come off...So I might have to drop the subframe and cut the bolt heads off or try and split them with an air hammer if I can find an air hammer or get a cut off wheel between the subframe and gas tank....

sounds like you have a mess. From the standpoint of someone who may not know who he's talking about, I may have an idea. get some studs that are the next size up, and get a tap set from autozone and retap the holes to accept the new studs.

Actually, on second thought I think you can just repair the damaged threads and use the same size studs, I don't know what I was thinking. You just may need new studs. I don't know what to tell you about getting them out though.

Well the main problem is I THINK the studs are part of the casting...and the casting is aluminum (again, i think). They are actually studs like head studs, more like threaded extensions off the rear cover....

Well if they are studs, that would be great, but if not, I think I will just drill and tap through the center and use a bolt to skrew into the center of the stud...

well tommorow will tell all when I drop the diff...hopefully it is something minor. I cant wait to get rid of one-tire-firers while boosting on wet roads!!!! Say hello to fishtails and monster grip around corners!

well, the guy called back and said he'd take $200 for the 90 hatch. It's very rough, but looks like it has a decent interior, and it is a 5 speed, meaning it has all 5 speed swap parts. It has a motor in it, and supposedly it will run with a 'knocking in the bottom end' but is partially dissasembled. Does anyone know anything about the sohc KA? Is it worth dealing with or should I hock it and get a dohc? Anyway, does it sound like a good deal?

200 for a parts car sounds awesome...

People sell a running KA for 200 to 500 alone..

If the windows are good, you can part those out for some decent money, like rear quarter glass and all..

you would make money off of that deal

yeah well, remember I told you at NOPI, I put an SR20 in my S14, it's running great but I'm nowhere near done with that project. I'm building it for grip driving though.

This is a side project for learning to drift. I don't want to smash my beloved S14 into a wall so I'm just looking to find something I can get running cheaply, gut the interior and every piece of dead weight I can, paint it myself cheaply, and go thrash.

I got an 89 coupe shell from Brandon for $100, it's straight but stripped to the bone, no dash, pedals, nothing, and now I'm looking to get this hatch to either turn the coupe back into a viable shell, or just use the hatch. then of course I'll need a motor and lsd, then I'll part out/sell the rest.

I have heard the sohc head outflows the dohc thus is a better candidate for turbo'ing. But I would swap in a dohc and go ITB and striaght header!!! Come one, be a man!!!

Well my incident with the new lsd is all fixed. It turns out that they are actual studs, not part of the casting. I got 3 of the 4 studs out and just replaced them with bolts (so instead of having the studs poke through and skrewing a nut onto the stud, I just used a bolt to go into the diff cover) Well it fixed all my troubles and now it grips like HELL!!! Going around corners is smooth as silk and the power can just keep being put down before the rears break loose. I only got to drive it for about 30min but it was still awesome.

Wuuuuuuuuzzzzzzz up y'all, it's been 4-ever since I've been on the board. Welcome back Nismochick; I remember seeing posts from a while back and you were looking for a pc then, dang it's been a while. Life has been crazy lately for me and I'm rarely able to access the web long enough to even read what's going on with the board, moreless reply. The 240 is running good, albeit there are some minor things I need to address with some sense of urgency: MAF connector, Tie rod boot, and my rear tires. Ever since I discovered the place that we're talking about meeting, I've been flogging my tires a good bit. I've ripped the middle portion of one tire out a good bit. I've got a couple of newly used ones that are sitting on my porch waiting to be mounted. Speaking of the meeting, I'm stoked that everyone seems to be available to come down. I'm really looking forward to meeting you all in person.

Im trying to find a job now to help out with affording a new S14 and getting rid of the Hatch's. If possible i'd work as much as i can. I also need to be saving up for next year in college. Me and 2 friends that are attending are getting an appartment 15 minutes away from Downtown Nashville.

What is ITB? I guess I'll just get the car here and see what I've got as far as the motor goes. If it's going to take a lot of effort to fix I may just sink it in the lake and get a dohc. Turstin and a buddy of his may have all the other parts I need anyway, along with a motor.
