Yeah, I kinda dig the front but that's about it. As aforementioned, the z32 is already wide, it doesn't really need too much more added. The bmw m1 was a nice car and quite fast, idk did they come with a v12 option??

Yeah, I've seen those pics of the 240 before and most people thought they were

Hey Jordan, I hope that all you need to do is purge the clutch line so that you don't incur any more expenses and you can move to other things.

I was thinking maybe along the lines of a 308 (Magnum PI or FNF part 1--black ferrari that raced againt supra). Those bimmers are worth a pretty penny these days, wish I could acquire one.

maxima278 wrote:Jordan, your car sounds like it's doing exactly what mine was doing, and the reason why I took out that clutch. Of course changing the clutch didn't help. You need to bleed the clutch line more. That should reduce if not completely eliminate the problem. Try mashing the clutch in and out twice and see if it still does it once you have built up more pressure. I was looking for more like $350 for that engine set, that seems closer to what people are asking for them in the classifieds.
oh, crap. my brother has 200 dollars or something and i dont feel like giving him anymore money and waiting forever for him to pay me back. how much would you want just for the motor and how much for just the transmission? and do you not want to sell that exhaust cause you havent said a price for it yet. anyways, thanks for the advice on that, ill have to do that and see if it helps. first i have to figure out how though haha.

I would throw the exhaust in for $350, by itself I wouldn't want more than like $75 for it, negotiable. I wonder if your old busted motor has the parts to fix your brother's motor, have you thought of that? If not, you could still keep the transmission for yourself since his car is an automatic. Or swap around so that this motor is in your car. I don't know the best way to bleed your clutch, but the best way I know that at least works is to get someone to hold the pedal down, then put your wrench on the little nut at the slave cylinder and turn it till it squirts liquid out then tighten. don't leave it open for more than a second, then after it is tight the person iin the car pumps the pedal back up, then you repeat till it doesn't feel like its improving any more.

I think the BMW M1 had gullwing doors if I remember. Kind of reminds me of a Ferrari 512BB, or a Testa Rossa. I'm not sure why that Z reminded me of it, can't put my finger on one thing, it just did.

I went to tophat today to drop off my harnesses. Their shop is not much bigger than just enough to hold maybe 3 cars at a time. I just can't believe they keep busy 5 days a week 40 hours a week working on mainly 240s. Looks like they do nice clean work though. The guy said they got so backed up on crate ka24s they had to stop selling them for a while and then they raised the price when they started again and they are still backed up on them. He also said they were going to do shortblock crate Sr20s and RBs at some point.

thats how nsperformance is. its a small shop with room for about 3 cars in the garage and they have about 15 240's in the parking lot. i wish i would have gotten a crate engine from tophat back in the day when they had them for cheap. i swear they use to be like 2500 for the whole deal turbo and all.

let me know if today is a good today for us to come down there. i might just go ahead and let him borrow some more money cause i want him to get his car back on the road. what kind of condition is the exhaust in? i guess we will have to find another ecu for his car too huh.

let me know how this motor works out. Not that I have any doubt, I just drove my car last saturday morning before I ripped it out. Just make sure you flush the radiator system. I want to see pics of yours and your brothers cars.

I think the crate motors were like 2500 without turbo and 3700 with and now aren't they like 2900 w/o turbo?

why does his car need an ecu?

lol, I can believe that. Now my problem is I can't decide if i want to keep one of my 240s and put an rb in it, or if i want to sell everything and get a 350z.

decisions, decisions

no. all you need to do is rig the relay that tells the motor you can start the engine. do a search for username Powerline, he should have everything you need for a five speed swap. slave, master, hardline, brake pedal.

then you'd have a car payment. do the rb swap! I asked daniel to call you like on tuesday, I don't know what's going on. He did say you should be able to get shops in SC to do the same thing for you

DAMN that's a good deal on a 350z! Imo you should find a way to keep the kouki that you just bought and go for that 350. I think an rb-powered 240 could eat 350's for breakfast all day long, at least that's my plan $17K for that z is a very tempting price if you can get financing, and your payments shouldn't really be high at all. If you can get 6% interest or better, you could have a 60 month term with payments around $300/mo.

Well guys I finally got around to removing my starter today; it wasn't as much of a PITA as I thought it would be. The most difficult parts were getting the 1/2" nut off the positive terminal since it has that little boot, and the bolt that's on the top side of the transmission. I was working on a uneven surface and the floor jack that I have doesn't allow me to get the car very high off the ground to use anything other than the "0" setting on my jack stands. I remove the tire and that help a lot since I was limited on manuverablility. I'm gonna take it and have it tested tomorrow to see if its salvageable/rebuildable. I'll let you guys know what happens as I have more details.

i have only heard good things about megan, which is why i am most likely going to be buying some coilovers from them. as soon as i stop procrastinating and make up my mind. i think ill take some pictures for you guys tomorrow. we have his motor and transmission ready to come out and the other motor stripped and ready to put the manifolds on. we also got all the stuff (i think) for the 5 speed swap, hopefully it will all go smoothly. i think i am going to get that exhaust welded up tomorrow if i have time and i hope it sounds good. james get your car done ASAP! let me know if you need some help too.

It sounds like you all are almost there, I hope all else goes smoothly during the install. It can be rough getting the car going again when you convert to 5spd, especially if you're not too sure that you have everything.

James I've heard some good things about Megan, although I've never used their products first hand. I wish I had enough yard for a riding lawnmower haha.

And that is the main reason I'm leaning towards putting a rb in one of my 240s, I hate car payments, maybe I can talk my dad into selling his truck and getting a 350z, shouldn't be to hard, beause he says something to me about getting a 350z almost once a week.

Yeah, since he's all hard up for you to get a z, maybe he can contribute to the cause. I don't think you should sacrifice the rb-240 for the 350 and a matching payment. Here's an idea, maybe you can get that $17K and drop it into your 240. I'm sure that would be enough to make your car pretty sick!!

I would get my car done if I had time to work on it, but I'm having a hard time just getting around to it. I don't know what you could spend 17k on with a 240.

LOL, how about you all come together and donate $17K to me and I'll show ya, I'll even throw in receipts for an expense tally so that you can write it off on your taxes as a donation.

I bet you I could spend 17k on a 240... I'd have a real hard time justifying it but one of those sequential transmissions looks really nice. The price is at the bottom. Leaving just enough cash for an engine build up and maybe a sticker or two, if I'm lucky a tank of gas.

I've been meaning to tell you you might want to see if you can get a silencer to go in the tip of that exhaust. Did you clean it up some? I was wondering if it was shiny under all that dust. btw I put my driveshaft on today after I put down some kitty litter . Man I'm a dumbass.

Jordan was there, but for those of you who don't know what I'm talking about, I put transmission fluid in before I put the driveshaft on Now my garage is a pool of gear oil. :argh.
