Haha thats what happens though when you use it man. Stuff breaks!

Dangit... I hope i dont have problems with mine.. Maybe i'll try and put some extra shielding around the wires or something to help with this issue. Seems like everyone i've talked to that has done a VH swap says thumbs down to innovate. I was under the impression they were the best.

I really thought the Innovative widebands were some of the better units when I got mine too. I never even realized that other people had issues with them until I read this thread. Oh well..just install it correctly and hope it works fine.

Exact problem i had with mine, i messed with it long enough for me not to trust whatever readings i got out of it.

I dont know if i posted before, but i ended up with the aem uego, it still plugs into a lap top for dataloging and worked fine from start up, and continues to work fine.

I hope you have better luck than me .

Yeah i was just reading up on the issue because I'm going to be pissed if this happens. I don't need anymore setbacks.

Some people are getting the Error code 8 or something like that which is basically the same as it being crazy lean. Some people were getting it to work by doing a bunch of free-air calibrations, and by a bunch i mean from 6 or 7 up to 20 in a row..

Here's the link i was reading.http://www.innovatemotorsports...=4286

Is that the problem you guys were seeing? I only read basically the first and last page..

No flake. It's BMW Alpine White III with gold pearl in the clear coat. My personal touch.

Did some fab work on the oil pan today. Started mocking up the extensions. Made some measurements and i think i'll have around 30 more cubic inches of space in there. (very roughly).

Anyways here's what i've got so far..

WOW! It looks so yummy. Are you going to paint the whole car, and if so, what color?

I want to eventually. It wont be that white but it's tempting as i really like the way it looks.

If anyone has ideas or criticism about that oil pan design thus far please pitch in. I'm in unknown waters with this and only going off designs i've been reading about for a while.

My plan so far is to put trap doors where the OEM pan walls used to be. And i'll only have the trap doors as high as the stock windage tray. ABove that will be a piece of steel with a couple large holes drilled into it similar to the extensions on the stock pan, although these were on a much smaller scale without trap doors.

This build is amazing, and I love the color!!!!

You better finish the rest of the car with that, it'll be gorgeous.

We'll see. I had other plans for paint down the road but this color is a definite possibility.

Got myself deep working on keeping the bay clean with a harness tuck..

All the wires i have to shorten are hanging out of the car. Should be fun.

So i'm back in the process of finishing the oil pan, been away for a while but i'm back. Now i've got a couple questions here. As you can see in the picture the bottom of the oil pan isn't the same angle as the pickup tube. I'm trying to decide the best way to fix this.

Should i modify the bottom of the pan? As it sits the bottom of the pan is parallel with the flange.

Or should i just leave it as is and modify the pickup tube since i need to shorten it anyways.

I realize now (after i mocked up this pan) that it's at an angle because the engine doesnt sit perfectly level in the q45. But this is in my s13 and i really have no idea what angle the engine is at. Especially since i constantly change my ride height... lol.

Am i over-analyzing this? What do you guys think the best route would be?

Click for larger image. Also, the pan is spaced equally all around from the block so this is the correct angle it would be at if just bolted up. (after modifying pickup tube of course)

I've been away for quite a while. Been super busy with school and getting this blasted car back together. It finally fired back up last night!

Thanks to Carl at BlackBoxTuning for tuning the ecu for me. I havent had a change to drive it more than a couple feet but so far it seems to run pretty well. AFR's look good idling. And so far the LC1 hasn't given me any issues yet... hopefully it'll stay like that. It specifically says that if you don't solder all of the grounds (the xd-16's and the LC1's) to the same point and put em all in the SAME lug that you can pick up unwanted noise. So not sure if you guys did that or not.

ANyways, i also have the newer style injectors on the older style manifold. Runs GREAT so far. Can't wait to get it out on the road.

Now here's the much required start-up video.

Finally, after MANY hours of work. Thing is back up and running. Cleaner than ever before.

Description:First start after pulling the engine and replacing the transmission. Also did a wire tuck and painted the bay along with some other goodies. There is some abnormal valve noise at first but i think it was a partially stuck lifter as the engine had been sitting a while. Once it warmed up a bit the noise went away so i think it'll be alright.

I actually ended up getting a little impatient and decided to raise the engine so the oil pan wouldn't hang below the x-member anymore. I still have the oilpan though and a bunch of extra engines so if i end up getting bored i'll probably take another crack at it. Thing is i got as far as even making a jig for a new pickup tube in the correct length lol
