Nancy... we need exterior pix now!
I have to agree a little bit. I mean its different but its not meant for the US.ivythree wrote:I'm not gonna lie... this is retarded. Why the hell would anyone do something like this? Unless you are a mailman, you really shouldn't have a steering wheel on the right side. You are not living in Japan, so why would you want to inconvenience yourself just to make yourself more jdm? Seriously, I've never seen something so completely pointless in my whole entire life.
You drive on the right side in the USA, not left, so the steering wheel should naturally be on the left. In Japan, they drive on the left. There is a reason for having the steering wheel on the right. Its not like its some performance mod or anything.
I don't see why everyone is so impressed. I bet if it wasn't a girl, everyone would agree with me.
i used everything from the sr20 front clip i also change the the turn signalsk00laid83 wrote:did you use the front clips wire harness or did you extend wires from the US harness? oh also did you use the turn signal switches from the clip also? im just wondering cus i finished my conversion along time ago right but i havent put everything together so i was just trying to take some pointers on the wiring..well i would appreciate it if you could help me out on that part
well thanks for ur support yes im happy driving right hand drive and to all the people that are close minded they are just jealousd!ck wrote:thats not the case, ivy, and welcome to the forums.
when people ask "should i do rhd conversion?" i would normally tell them no because just the fact that they posted a thread asking for opinions is enough to let me know they shouldnt be attempting something like this.
nancy on the other hand posted a thread *with pics* saying she had successfully done it. now i agree with you that it makes some things harder being that our roads are set up for lhd cars... but if the person driving the car likes it, thats really all that matters.
i could see a problem if it made the car unsafe to drive and endangered others, but again i think the determining factor is the driver of the car here.
in any case, your opinion is noted, thanks for avoiding personal attacks and namecalling.
and yes im a girlivythree wrote:I'm not gonna lie... this is retarded. Why the hell would anyone do something like this? ur right about uniqueness that's what i am one unique girl ...lol its all about keeping your car nice and clean not with a big *** wings, dumb graphics!!homeslicej2 wrote:First, welcome to NICO Ivy. Second, it does have performance gains esp. if you track your car. Read my post above. It is also something to be "unique" that doesn't involve huge wings, large graphics, extravagant paint jobs, etc. It doesn't matter if a 300lb 40 year dude did it. It's neat and different, has performance gains, and is an intensive project that requires a serious undertaking. It's something to be proud of. JDM tyteness isn't the only reason it's done. Several custom car builders do it too as something different. Along with weight balance (due to the heavy cast iron manifold, heavy mild steel stock exhaust, and turbo if you have one being on the LH side) it also moves the brake master cylinder away from the exhaust heat by relocating it to the intake side of the bay. Heating up brake fliud to really high levels becomes a real issue when you go turbo. Hot brake fluid is never good. That too is a performance gain.
i will post more pictures this friday be patient people1unar3clipse wrote:I still dont get the point of converting a LHD car to RHD, but I will admit that it takes alot of work and looks nice in the end.but for that much work for RHD I would dump the cash into a Kouki S14 and jdm that up and call it a day.
But the fact that you did it piece by piece and converted shows you got some determination, and Its really clean almost like it was always that way.
more pics, some of the engine bay and some from different angles showcasing the conversion.
Of course who doesnt want to be JDM TYTE !! lolivythree wrote:I'm not gonna lie... this is retarded. Why the hell would anyone do something like this? ok cool i was just wondering because you know how front clips are all cut up in half and well the rear wiring is missing..so did you have cut up the stock rear wiring and wire it up to the clips?jdmnancy wrote:
i used everything from the sr20 front clip i also change the the turn signals
ok yes its kind of difficult such as welding, the wiring, and all that sh1t.. well that is my 1st right hand drive conversion i ever done but i had help from a good friend and boyfriend.PantherRacer wrote:Would one of the 2 people who did RHD conversions in this thread please tell me how difficult it is? 1-10 or w/e what is the hardest part? ordering the clips? wiring? moving the parts around on the firewall?
I'm going to train to be a Nissan Master Tech so it shouldn't kill me but I don't think conversions are on the list of services. lol
well umm damn, it wasnt really hard to get the firewall out to be honest with you its just time consuming i mean for the reason that with my car i gutted everything....like i took my windshield, quarter panel windows out, i did this so when i paint it, it would come out nicer....see some people just cut the bottom half and dont convert the window motor postion, but i took the whole fire wall out that way it was easier with the wiper motors being where they should be on rhd cus if you leave it in the lhd position and it rains it might be more difficult to see! and on to the wiring well what i did was kept my stock wiring harness and just flipped it over so now the fuse box is on the right hand side..the only problem is the fuse boxes in the engine bay being in the opposite position so what im going to do is a wire tuck and extend a couple of wires here in the but im going to make them plug and play! and what i mean about plug and play i mean like im going to be able to unplug the fuse boxes, and i might do that so i can make them go in the stock position....so im not sure if im going to do the wire tuck or just put them in the stock position...well if you have anymore questions let me know!PantherRacer wrote:Would one of the 2 people who did RHD conversions in this thread please tell me how difficult it is? 1-10 or w/e what is the hardest part? ordering the clips? wiring? moving the parts around on the firewall?

I'd think that the weight balance would be minimal, and the heating of brake fluid would only really be an issue if it was a really high powered car/has been running in 100+ degree heat for a long time. But I'm probably wrong. For some reason, I don't think that those were a reason for converting it to rhd.homeslicej2 wrote:Along with weight balance (due to the heavy cast iron manifold, heavy mild steel stock exhaust, and turbo if you have one being on the LH side) it also moves the brake master cylinder away from the exhaust heat by relocating it to the intake side of the bay.
