Well, since i'm always bored, I decided to kinda test fit the intercooler piping on my spare engine... note that the engine is missing many parts ... i just wanted to see what it looked like, because i'm cool like that...and I know everyone loves pictures...

got turbo? ... I don't

...and of course those couplers aren't all right.. I just threw it together real quick

JRC 25x3x8 IC core...2.75" cold, 2" hot pipe.. turbo xs type h-rlf bov... tial 38mm wastegate.. and rev hard manifold pictured.

WICKED SETUP!

ive got a line on a ka from 92 that i might do a light build on (forged pistons, maybe re-do bottem end bearings) to drop in my 95 with a garrett t28 setup - looking for 300whp area.

whats your fmic rated at? reason i ask is that if your planning to push 400-500whp, it may not be efficient enough.

I got it from http://johnnyracecar.com/ and people have pushed over 500whp with this intercooler, so it should be plenty.. overall, it's like 30"x8.5"x3.125"... so it's pretty big.

in the end, that's what i'm going for also.. but I just want a mild setup right now.. I don't think anything over 350whp in a 240 is too streetable, at least for me.

cool

maybe i missed it, but what turbo are you planning to run and what dp?

i agree, anything after 350whp may not be ideal for street use due to reliability. im not sure about you, but i need mine to be my daily driver.

Hey, those intercooler pipes, are they a specific brand or what?I think I read you got them from a dude on KA-t.org. But, how can I procure a set. Also good choice on the turbo, I am going to be getting the same one, except I will be going for spool so the .48 is in store for me.

also, the RFL... wow is all I have to say. That mother is LOUD.I just installed an Injen intake and intercooler pipes on a buddies evolution 8, I also installed an RFL. Very nice piece. I just didn't expect it to be so loud, all the clips on the internet do not do justice. Also, make sure you tighten the hell out of those 3 hex bolts on the bottom of the BOV when the time comes, trust me.

Haha... yeah, i've heard it's the loudest they make.. should be interesting..

I'm kinda still deciding on the .63 or .48 a/r... I mean, I want to push more boost with my built engine, and not have to buy a new turbo.. plus it would be nice to cruise down the highway at 65 and not be boosting haha... so i'll probably stick with the .63

The piping... I don't know, the guy said his friend had a shop make it for his 240.. but as you can see, i'll have to move the coil and p/s reservoir because of how it goes into the turbo.. it acually looks like a few kits i've seen for the sr20.. but i'm not sure, because it pretty much fits perfect for a top mount ka manifold.

i would say run the .63 too ... better to have the boost come on a little later in the rpms if you do alot of hwy driving, and plus you wont be working it as hard as the .48 to make the same whp

would an sr 3" dp not work? or with a little cut-extention?

i like the t3/t4 setup if its a bottom mount so that theres no clearance issues with the mc and the turbos are cheaper, but i dont really have time/ability to make my own dp... thats why i was leaning towards the t28 setup cause you can use a 3" sr dp and it bolts up to your cat with no problems (although turbo's are more expenive)

true I can use the SR downpipe, but it's made for a bottom mount turbo.. so it will start towards the bottom of the firewall, which still requires me to make a 90* out of the turbo, and about a foot down.. I wanted to run 3" back no cat, no resonator..

that might be ear-bleedingly loud ... i would at least run a resignator and most likely a silencer on the exhuast. especially if you gutted your interior+heavy deadening! you may want to spray down some Cascade sound deadening if your getted. a few coats will go along way and doesnt wiegh much.

im running a cat, blitz 3" cat back with silencer, full interior and that still gets loud at certain rpms (imo)

Yeah... it's crazy, they're really well made intercoolers, and for $215 shipped, I couldn't beat the quailty:price ratio lol.

alright update time..

I everything in the shop getting machined. Block is being hot tanked, bored .5mm over, honed, and decked. New freeze plugs. Also, everything is getting balanced, along with turbo240/ams rods, and supertech 9:1 pistons. should have all that done in about 2 weeks... the shop is pretty backed up.

I have a built head that a member sold me. Resurfaced, ported and polished intake and exhaust ports, 3 angle valve job, new valve stem seals etc, and '91 cams. I may upgrade to crower v2's. Engine shoudl be together, and installed pretty soon. I'm going to break it in for 1500 miles N/A.. also going on the engine is

After 1500 miles, I will install my turbo kit, and switch to synthetic oil..turbo kit will include: AMS GT32, revhard manifold, z32 maf, tial 38mm wastegate, tuned ecu, 740cc injectors, jrc intercooler, rfl type-h bov, walbro 255lph pump.. Engine will be running 15psi on 92 ocatane. I hoping for at least 300whp on pump gas.

I attached a list of everything done to my car, besides all the turbo/engine stuff that's going in soon.
