So there is an industrial park right by my house that i have been practicing my launches in for a couple days, well on the way back from the store to get a 6 pack for the pistons sixers game i decide to cut through(GF in car) well a 92 mustang follows suit and were both at the flashing red no cars, he asked if i had a turbo and i laugh and say no, so we go and i launch at 3000 and did quite well went to 70ish and shut her down, at this point my GF is yelling and laughing and tell me THIS IS NOT THE FAST AND FURIOUS so i start laughing even harder and i couldnt get that grin off my face. 1st race from a dig in the G in 6 weeks of ownership going to the strip and hopefully the track in May.

No mods yet, i think it came with a pop charger and no air box. i'm going to order a 3.9 gear this week. Maybe a 5/16 spacer and testpipes by the end of the month too. I'm very interested to see how the gears work out.

I wouldn't brag about a test pipe around here. People generally view that as socially irresponsible. Same with street racing.

Depends on which state you live in. In a large number of states nobody really cares.

By the looks of his typing skills, it initially appears that he is one of the 's that doesn't care about the ramifications of street racing.

Remember Poms, without proper punctuation your story loses all merit! From the get go, you look immature... Might want to touch up on the grammar lesson before you go posting about illegal racing on a public forum... Education First!

Don't get all buthurt. That was hardly personal. If you avoid posting, no one will get to know you, and you won't get to know us very well. If you posted up a lot more, you would know to tell Dave to stick his grammer where the sun doesn't shine.

Well Matt, a test pipe is illegal in all 50 states. Having one installed subjects the owner to a hefty fine and the possible impounding of his car. People do care.

To the OP, I agree with Bean, don't take it personal. We have an excellent crew here that will help you with pretty much anything.

Naaa, 2 things here can get you on the bottom of a pile on here faster than falling off a bar stool. Street racing (I'm giving everyone the benefit and assuming all racing is at a track.) And illegal modifications, those that violate the EPA or other agencies are not socially responsible.

Drive a legal car, at a sponsored event and see how fast the guys get behind you here and cheer you on. If you still question this, search this site for street racing here and see the flames that have followed. More than one noob has been sent away with his tail on fire for that. If you still want to modify your car in an illegal manner, you should be aware of the consequences of doing so. Legally and mechanically.

Wasn't the first post you ever had on this site about your street race

Bob, I thought we should all lighten up a bit on street racers once I saw our host post a recent event he experienced. I've gotten off my soapbox. I don't condone it and do think it's very dangerous, but I also respect the house rules, or at least try to be respectful.

So,

I thought the typing was ok, not 100% perfect, but better than some others. I'm with SVT though, we need to lighten up maybe just a little because we honestly do have a double standard here on NICO (although very small and very seldom does it happen). We have a couple of members here who have posted videos of them street racing and other potentially illegal stuff and we're all like "Cool!" Then we have someone who posts a story and its like a flustered British man with the huge mustache.

I'm not saying I approve of street racing, but I think we should take into consideration each story that does get posted instead of just grouping them all together as completely bad. Racing at the track can be just as dangerous as racing on the street, just that the track has a controlled environment to minimize the danger as much as possible. If the poster says there are no cars, give him the benefit of the doubt. I know if I were challenged and there were cars, I would never do it, but if there weren't and it was a pretty secluded area, it'd be pretty tempting.

Anywho, poms, I'm in AA...what track are you thinking about going to? I've been thinking about trying to get up to Waterford Hills. I won't be able to get there in May for their OTD, but maybe the one in June if I'm still around.

Hardly. I've got a 2008 G, and I've never street raced it. I could care less who has a faster car or who beats me to the next stop light. Until a few weeks ago, there was a 2006 Mustang GT in my garage. I never raced the Mustang either. I don't want to be responsible for injuring, or possibly killing another human being. I'm not pointing fingers here, but street racing is really FTL.

I'm not coming down on pom here, or anyone else. I'm simply against street racing. It's insane.

Wow, am I the only one that got some in the past 24 hours?

On a related story since you all can't be nice to us street racers hahahaha J/K

I had fun with an early 90s civic hatch on Saturday. He was turning left and saw me in the far right lane and decided to duel. The street was pretty clear and we only went to about speed limit, so not much to worry about.

He was the first genuinely nice ricer I've met. Complimented my coupe and we went on our way.

I also had a run in with a 330ci on the freeway, the crazy woman comes speeding in the left lane, then speeds up to weave between the person in front of her and me. I sped up a little to try to block her, but she was too fast. I should have down shifted into 4th, but it wasn't that important to me. She ended up going about 90, then having to brake hard behind the next "mob" of traffic

Smockers, I would meet you out at Waterford hills for sure. I have never been to a track before and its the main reason bought this car. That's the only track I know of in the metro area. I am out of town for work in Grand Rapids but I come home all the time. If you know a date that works for you before you go back to da UP eh, let me know. Ps all of my roommates at CMU were from the UP.

so bob u never broke the posted speed limit ether? not trying to start but when u say street racing is not what responsible people do then plz tell me u never broke the speed limit. i to dont think street racing is the smartest thing in the world to do but to say people arent responsible well theres a long list of things we ALL do and some every day that are just as dumb as street racing should we bring up all the SOBs that talk on the phone, eat , shave, bush there teeth, reading oh the list goes on and on of the stuff i see people doing that can "injury, or possibly kill another human being"so again street racing is stupid but so is alot of things we do wit out even thinking everyday that is just as stupid

Nice, I probably know some of them. But WH only has OTD once a month May-July and once in Oct. I've never been either, but there are a few guys I've talked to here that have given me some pointers and where to look to get prepared. But I'll be in AA for most of the summer until I get a real job. There's no way I'd be ready by May 10 (new brakes & tires will be needed) and the June 7 date is graduation week for high school. The July date is right after the 4th, so who knows if I'll be able to make it out...I'd like to though.

I'm just glad someone is having fun with their G35. I was actually thinking of running no cats aswell. But your overall hatred of this mod has made me decide to go HFC.
