I'm trying to get it back together as quickly as parts come in, and I have time to get the work done.

Looks like I jumped on this thread late, but i wanted to chime in- that is nice looking-super clean, real pro. Good Job! Makes me want land... I don't even have anything more than street parking... I would love it if I could start little projects on my car that didn't have to be done in one day or risk street cleaning or some other thing...but that's a trade off for living in the middle of a city. Anyway, keep the pics coming... looks great.

No worries Remedy, it's still getting updated all the time with more pics and progress as I go.

man, you guys are lucky and rich

I wish I could afford to do more things to my car. Not having a full-time job does NOT help.

Nice car man.

Well rich I definately am not, my wife is just very patient with what I'm doing. Although having a full time job would definately put a damper on available funds.

Nice job. It's refreshing to see people still willing to take as much time w/prep(ie cleaning/restoring) as they are installing. Some cars are just disgusting when they throw new shiny parts on an old, dingy, greasy frame.

prop's to you...

Also it's not often you get to see the base frame of a car(front end anyways).

::edit:: BTW I love that stock color, same as mine. Anyone know if nissan had a name for it? I always just called it a dark charcoal. ::edit::

ehh, sounds about right. I would love to stay with a color close to that, great look for the coupe.

I think if I ever get a vanity liscense plate it'd be MS13LUV.

How big a task was it to remove that rear subframe? I'm considering getting new bushings > spacers.

It's really not that big of a deal, depends on how far you wanna break it down.

Unhook the driveshaft, and undo the 4 supporting bolts, everything just drops down connected to it. Well unhook the struts too and brake lines.=)

Keep up with the pics and documentation man. I'll help put together an article or a slidshow at the end of your build if you need any help.

Looks really good so far. Keep the pics rollin.

Don't worry I'll continue to document everything. Since I know I always liked it when other people did it. It's nice to be able to follow a project from start to finish. Normally all you see are the after pics and miss the rest of what goes into it.

After I get all this stuff running I'll see how all the parts are woking together. Lance is running them on some of his cars and hasn't had a problem with any of them. The AEM will probably be the slowest part of getting the setup running right. Since I only khow of one other SOHC engine running one, and his is stock.

Dude........ AWESOME JOB!! I have been contemplating repainting my 240... but there is going to be a lot of body work and stuff that will NEED done and it's my only car and mode of transportation... hmm... I think that I might just postpone that since seeing your lovely stripped car... b/c ya know, if I wait a year or two (I'm a sophmore in college now) I might actually be able to accumulate some performance parts and when painting/body work comes I can strip the whole thing bare and do the body work, painting, and reassembly w/ better parts (300z brakes, 5 lug swap, maybe my turbo'd engine... etc...) gosh my 240 project seems to continually get longer and more postponed... but it's for the best I think

And sorry for thread jacking... seeing your beautiful car got me rethinking my plans lol good luck man and and keep us updated!

my car is exactly the same as yours except with 165k miles and not even in the same universe as far as cleanliness, I wish I could find a rust free chassis, (FC or S13 in the midwest.....) oh well, I will do with what I have.

nice friggen ride

Tonight I replaced the clutch and painted the block. So tomorrow I'll try and get the motor dropped in and the rear suspension all put on.

I don't know if I ever put down my power goals so here is what is currently on the agenda.

Stock block on 50 trim:

I'm guessing about 300 rwhp at 15 psi

Built Block on 50 trim:

I'm guessing 400-420 rwhp at 20 psi

Built Block on GT35R:

Hopefully be able to run around 600 rwhp...guessing around 30 or so psi.

I'm going to build 2 blocks...1st mild build....2nd wild build:

I'm thinking this for a budget build.

Colt Turbo Cam Arias 8.8:1 Pistons around Eagle Rods w/ARP hardware Clevite Bearings Mild Port and Polish ARP studs Gasket Kit Machine Work

That should be around $2000 and should easily hold 400-450 rwhp. Which isn't too shabby.

Balls out is quite a bit more

Colt Turbo Cam (custom grind) Arias 8.8:1 Pistons around Crower Rods or Ti Rods Solid Lifter Conversion Clevite Bearings ARP Studs Metal Headgasket Port and Polish Machine Work Everything balanced, hot tanked, etc. Possibly Knife Edge Crank Si Oversize Valves Clevite Guides Custom Springs Install Oil Piston Squirters

Should hold just about anything I could throw at it with good tuning...

Tonight we dropped the motor into the car. It was nice to get that in. Big thanks to Eric (ewittiner) and Brian (civicsi2) for the help the last two days...and Brians's wife for distracting us.=) By the way brian's car drives nice.

There is a broken stud I have to fix on the exhaust side before i can button everything up on it. All the Nismo mounts are installed, just needs to be wired up. Well and the intake and exhaust manifolds put on. Then I can finally start making the intercooler piping for it.

New updates:

JGS Precision Custom Intake Manifold

It'll be polished up a bit before the car gets fired up. At least I'll do my best to. Since it's kinda on the back burner with how much other stuff I have to get done before the 22nd. It's made to work with the stock fuel rail, which frankly...flows plenty.

Don't mind the valve cover, it's not the one I'll be using. Boy is it hideous.

Big thanks to Lance and the boys at JGS Precision for completing the manifold in the time they did.

wow, thats a sweet build so far. keep the posts coming, i wanna see how this beast turns out...just a few questions

1) the front rotors, it looks like you had them redrilled and had the old five lug whols filled in, is that true?

2) when you dropped the front and rear subframes did they come off clean, or was a little motivation (big hammer and prybar) needed?

3) did you make your own intake manifold? that thing looks impressive, way beyond what i could even dream of making..

Time Frame: Assuming everything goes as planned it'll be running by next weekend. Then I can start working on rebuilding my spare block. I figure I'll swapping between that one in between 6 months to a year from now. While I rebuild the one that is currently in there after the swap. I want to have a spare built block when this is all finished. Less to worry about.

I did not fill the 5 lug holes, just appears that way, they were just redrilled.
