Jack. YOU are the man.

If you guys wanna call them, thats absolutely fine by me. I've called the police way too many times and they probably know my voice and dread hearing it.... lol

Again, I can't thank you all enough for helping me out. Unfortunately, its been a week, and I've had no phone call from Chip Foose.

Eh, you shouldn't have to. A STOLEN vehicle involved in a CRIME should be known by ever officer in the area and immediately pulled over if seen. Not "well, we'll get around to it if we're in the area and it's parked and no effort is to be exerted by us." That's bull****.

Sadly, thats how it seems to me. I just cannot understand. Its the whole CRIME thing that strikes me as being important in some way shape or form.

have fun making false reports to the police

i don't know about you, but if calls started coming in stating that a datsun 510 was pulling ****, it would be a little suspicious, because 99% of people don't even know what the hell kind of car it is. It's a grey box on wheels. And then you give them a false location, which would just cause police to search in that area, when you really have no idea where this thing even is. I mean seriously, what are you gonna say? Even if you do it from a public phone, they're still gonna ask you for your info. Are you just gonna hang up?

i highly reccomend, since this said Dan guy, has nothing to do with you outside of this case, to get him to take a lie detector test asking is he in on this crime, and questions similar to that.. it couldnt hurt anything.. that would be great if you could, cause i also had the suspicion that he was in on it too.. and if hes clean, hey hes clean..

Yah, my buddy got his EF civic DX stolen, the police found it 4 months later in the garage of an abandoned house, all they took were the tools out of the back, the distributer, the wheels, the radiator, and the spare tire jack. Your car is a lot more Iconic though, good luck.

my friends 1990 DA integra was stolen saturday night. basically it had T66 turbo kit, nice front mount, but stock 97 motor, some ice, CF hood, crossdrilled brakes, coilovers.

He was actually trying to sell it for like 6 which he wasnt ganna get, but it was in front of his grandfathers house facing the road. Well it wouldnt start so someone musta broke the windows and flatbedded that POS. So today he calls me and tells me that they found it in MD but uh....as you can guess, stripped to the frame everything gone & sold if not used. Its kinda what he deserved too but the thing I hate about him is that mommy will just pull out the mastercard and get a 00' Si.

Let me explain how stolen vehicles are dealt with.

1. The vehicle is entered into the BCA national database.2. Whenever that license plate or VIN is run by an officer (i.e. on a traffic stop, for a parking violation, etc.) the vehicle will have a "hit", coming up as stolen.

Due to the volume of calls departments receive, it's neither practical or possible to actively investigate thefts such as this.

Really, recovering stolen vehicles isn't a matter of investigative prowess or determination, it's just a matter of time or luck.

Yeah it sucks. Cars are an expensive hobby and this is one of the reasons why as well. The problem with Cops is not that they don't want to to help you it's that they don't have the manpower to do this. My brother is an NYPD officer and I talk to him about stuff like this and he tells me that the NYPD has a little over 30k officers, now these guys are pepperd all over Manhattan, Bronx, Queens, check the population in those areas. 30k no longer seems that much anymore. And as nchopp said before. There are crimes that take precedence over others. Now you may jump in and talk about all the BS that the police dept does to good people, like exhaust tickets, no front plate tickets, the "rolling emissions inspection stations". The truth is, it's not the police thats behind it, it's the politicians, check with your mayors. For the NYPD police officers get certain "perks" if they write down a certain amount of tickets in a certain amount of time that adds up to a certain amount of money. If they are consistent enough with the ticket writing then the rewards start to stack up. The city needs to make money somehow, and the people always bite that bullet.

The way you get a stolen car in Dallas is file a stolen car report and tell the popo that there is a kid in the back seat. They found that car QUICKLY! Amazing what can be done if it needs to be.
