It may cost 2295 for the motor but there is a buttload of other stuff you will need to get that done. I think I heard somewhere that for an RB25 plan on spending upwards of $8000.00 which believe me you won't make in a year flipping burgers mc d's. Stick with your KA, do some mods maybe turbo it and learn to be a great driver before you try throwing yourself behind a couple hundred horsepower. Good luck though

Don't talk about things I don't know about??? I've been working in engine machine shops and have done many swaps along as working as mechanic...5grand would not cover that swap. For that much your shop must do some pretty sh***y work. 5 grand would work if he was swapping it himself and wanted to do it right rebuilding the whole motor replacing alot of stuff, doing everything right with new parts and doing upgrades.

Even at that we are arguing about something that he probably wont be able to afford. Maybe your shop does good work and does it cheaper but everything costs different depending on where you are.

EDIT: I just saw you are from California, no wonder you guys do it so cheap...

I am doing it myself and I bet I will be able to afford it if I get a job in the next month or so, I will have around 5 grand by Christmas next year.

How do you figure that? Most state won't allow you to work in a lot of capacities at your age...whats the minimum wage in your state? That's most likely what you will be making. Also at your age the state usually has a limit on how much or how late you can work during the school year (Here if you are under sixteen you cannot work more than 15 hours a week during the school year) What kind of job do you think is going to pay for this that a 14 year old can get?

At most figuring the national minimum wage you would be making $86.90 a week which would put you at $4500.00 if you did that for 52 weeks (one year) However you could work more during the summer but all of this depends on your states laws. Plus from the $4500.00 you have to subtract insurance, taxes and that whole lot along with filing your taxes and such...that would drop you down quite a bit. But hey good luck with it you still have two years to make the money

Well down here you can start work at age 14, at publix of course, making around 8 bucks an hour. Im turning 15 in 5 days so that puts me up more. If i get a job soon, within a month, i can have that money for the swap.

don't talk about our shop like you know our work, we will bury you in terms of quality, knowledge and experience. we've completed swaps that your shop wouldn't even try to attempt

5 grand will cover that swap, engine transmission mounts wiring harness ecu driveshaft flex lite fans and labor

I wasn't talking about your shop like I know your work I'm just saying that based on that price around here it would buy you s**ty work but then I said I could understand because its california. And how exactly can you say you would bury the shops I have worked or that you have done swaps we have not? FTR the last shop I worked for was Maximillian Motorsports (We specialized in Ferrari's, Porche's, and BMW's)

We swapped many motors but that kinda work around here is pricey. If we were to buy all the parts for an RB25 Swap, refurbish the engine bay, rebuild the motor and transmission it would be around 10 grand or more. Also don't forget the fabbing you will have to do on some parts unless you can get them off of a skyline ($$$) It's sad you have to get so defensive about your shops work...what shop do you work for?

looking back it was ridiculous how defensive i got, and i apologize for it, in ca there are a million shops that claim to do good work and there is a lot of **** talking.

we've done some swaps that would make you scratch your head.

in regards to the fabrication that is needed to make the rb25 fit- there are kits that eliminate the need for fabrication. i have one in my car.

i work for JER in socal.

Yes there are many shops that claim good work for cheaper pricing (One time a friend got his transmission replaced in Redding and then had to get it replaced again in frisco because the company wouldn't warranty their work)

I have been trying to find such a kit (I became an rb25 owner last night!) I can definatly agree on the headscratching swaps (one time we swapped a fiero motor for a little beefier ferarri motor ) I miss that shop currently I work for a glass company as a sales representative due to a bad accident in march.
