1. GTFO. Anyone who wants to drink tap water come to Arizona and I'll give you a cup of nice brown water from the faucet.
2. Meh. People can drink energy drinks if they want.
3. You're welcome to brew battery acid at your house if you want. I'll have my Latte.
4 Premium gas will cost you an extra 2 dollars while fueling. Again, GTFO. I'll put premium in my car if I want.
5. If I want to service my car every 3000 I'm gonna do it. It's worth the piece of mind.
6. Okay. I'll admit that's a waste of money.
7. If Kia made an airplane would you ride in it?
8. MSNBC needs to stop watching MTV. A cake and some beer won't cost more than $100 for a large group of people. $100 for a party isn't bad.
9. It's not a 'waste' to eat out but it is certainly cheaper 'brown bagging'. When I travel I'm not going to pack enough food to last 10 days.
Methinks you're missing the point of the article.
1. To amend, most states enjoy clean drinking water straight from the tap. You are in the minority.
2. Uh, no one is stopping you from spending $2-$4 for a flavored drink heavily laced with caffeine and sugar. Most of those that consume 2-3 of those drinks per day have an expensive caffeine addiction. The article's point is there are much LESS expensive ways to get your caffeine fix. Home brewed coffee,
for example, costs about a dime per serving.
3. Just like above, it's your choice to pay a big premium for a latte at Starbucks. I'm sure it tastes great but there are many cheaper alternatives that
include brewing your own at home that cost a fraction of what you're paying for that Starbucks latte.
4. I sound like a broken record, you can be one of those "II'm gonna put premium in my baby because it's worth it." if you want. Assuming you haven't modified your car to the point it requires it, or if the manufacturer recommends regular, you might as well flush your money down your toilet with brown water by paying extra for premium because it doesn't do anything.
5, Changing your oil every 3000 miles may give you peace of mind, but your car will not last any longer by your doing that. Its your choice to spend more than required for a psychological need.
7. As mentioned earlier the article was citing groceries. But the answer is yes, if it was a commercial airliner subject to the same tough specs/standards/maintenance as Boeing.
8. The article was not citing the price of soda and cake, but the parties themselves have become much more elaborate. People are renting venues, hiring live entertainment, fancy catering, instead of old fashioned parties at home. YOUR family may not be doing that, but a lot of families in this country are doing just that.
9. No one is suggesting you pack/store your lunch for 10 consecutive days especially if you travel, but by bringing your lunch just twice per week to your local job, you can save potentially
hundreds of dollars over the course of a year. If money is tight, eating out everyday can be considered wasteful because there are cheaper alternatives available. Make sense?
