This is an interesting read:

The woman had digested NOTHING else aside from the caffeine containing drink.
So you're agreeing with me that caffeine probably wasn't the primary cause of death?

I inject caffeine directly into my heart because it makes my man-parts more powerful!

1. GTFO. Anyone who wants to drink tap water come to Arizona and I'll give you a cup of nice brown water from the faucet.

2. Meh. People can drink energy drinks if they want.

3. You're welcome to brew battery acid at your house if you want. I'll have my Latte.

4 Premium gas will cost you an extra 2 dollars while fueling. Again, GTFO. I'll put premium in my car if I want.

5. If I want to service my car every 3000 I'm gonna do it. It's worth the piece of mind.

6. Okay. I'll admit that's a waste of money.

7. If Kia made an airplane would you ride in it?

8. MSNBC needs to stop watching MTV. A cake and some beer won't cost more than $100 for a large group of people. $100 for a party isn't bad.

9. It's not a 'waste' to eat out but it is certainly cheaper 'brown bagging'. When I travel I'm not going to pack enough food to last 10 days.
1. LOLWUT? Where in AZ were you getting you're water from? I lived in Tucson and drank filtered water out of the faucet. It's all fine.

2. I agree that people can drink what they want, but that doesn't mean they aren't a GINORMOUS waste of money. Not to mention terrible for you.

3. We've already discussed the coffee debate extensively in here.

4. Unless you're car requires premium, you're being a pretentious douche thinking you need Premium.

5. Agreed. I usually change at 4k. Like you said, peace of mind.

6. Completely agree.

7. LOL.

8. The normal get together with cake and beer is fine. But being from Scottsdale, I've seen MANY parties cost well over a grand for a 16 year old.

9. Again, this has been covered. Fine every once in a while, but not for everyday like some do.

Methinks you're missing the point of the article.

1. To amend, most states enjoy clean drinking water straight from the tap. You are in the minority.

2. Uh, no one is stopping you from spending $2-$4 for a flavored drink heavily laced with caffeine and sugar. Most of those that consume 2-3 of those drinks per day have an expensive caffeine addiction. The article's point is there are much LESS expensive ways to get your caffeine fix. Home brewed coffee, for example, costs about a dime per serving.

3. Just like above, it's your choice to pay a big premium for a latte at Starbucks. I'm sure it tastes great but there are many cheaper alternatives that include brewing your own at home that cost a fraction of what you're paying for that Starbucks latte.

4. I sound like a broken record, you can be one of those "II'm gonna put premium in my baby because it's worth it." if you want. Assuming you haven't modified your car to the point it requires it, or if the manufacturer recommends regular, you might as well flush your money down your toilet with brown water by paying extra for premium because it doesn't do anything.

5, Changing your oil every 3000 miles may give you peace of mind, but your car will not last any longer by your doing that. Its your choice to spend more than required for a psychological need.

7. As mentioned earlier the article was citing groceries. But the answer is yes, if it was a commercial airliner subject to the same tough specs/standards/maintenance as Boeing.

8. The article was not citing the price of soda and cake, but the parties themselves have become much more elaborate. People are renting venues, hiring live entertainment, fancy catering, instead of old fashioned parties at home. YOUR family may not be doing that, but a lot of families in this country are doing just that.

9. No one is suggesting you pack/store your lunch for 10 consecutive days especially if you travel, but by bringing your lunch just twice per week to your local job, you can save potentially hundreds of dollars over the course of a year. If money is tight, eating out everyday can be considered wasteful because there are cheaper alternatives available. Make sense?

You obviously missed the whole point of this thread.

Let me make it clear. It is about items that people spend money on that they could usually due without.
ADDirishboy wrote: 5. Agreed. I usually change at 4k. Like you said, peace of mind.

That's the thing, it is a false sense of peace of mind. Without having a Used Oil analysis done you have no idea what your oil is doing or how much life it has. I will go so far as to say that in some engines, TDI for example, using non-bio-synthetic oils won't even hold up for 3k miles. So, to see exactly what's going on you need to get a UOA done from one of the labs. BlackStone is relatively cheap and available to the public.

Again, topic of discussion is items that people spend too much money on when there are perfectly viable alternatives.

Again, my comment was about how other people can get off my nuts about what I spend my money on and mind their own F-in business. ;)

People are never so confident as when they judge others. This is why I catch, cook and eat vegans. The irony amuses me.

North AZ, Bro. Seriously. The water comes out brown. You can buy Reverse Osmosis water systems but they are expensive to maintain and some people call them "very wasteful" because 3 of every 5 parts of water goes down the drain. Fortunately for me I'm a water treatment specialist in training so I can cheaply maintain a reverse osmosis system. But for most people a case of 24 bottles of water costs $5 and that's actually cheaper than an R/O system.

On a side note when did you become a mod? Does that mean we have to stop calling you gay? :frown:
