Devils advocate here again....

Consult II and Consult III (the nissan factory scan tools) let you check injector pulse width, oxygen sensor function, maf function, and real time fuel consumption and economy by monitoring everything. No need for extended drives to verify fuel economy or lack of malfunction.

I run into this stuff with customers every day with a wide variety of vehicles at the dealership (and not just nissans). Consumers like to jump to conclusions and think the world is out to get them. And sadly, from working at a Nissan dealership, I've seen Versa owners to be some of the best that that.

mnister- you're right. I was confusing the cars. The one I was referring to is the one to be sold by Chrysler in South America, which has Versa "guts.". The new one for Chrysler in North America is a totally different vehicle, Chrysler designed from the ground up.

The South America agreement wa signed in January. The one referring to North America was released in April.

So I guess the meticulous data keeping that I have of my fuel expenditures should be disregarded because of a few minutes plugged into a computer at idle? (or at least certainly not under load)

Here I go comparing computers to cars again, but I RARELY ever use diagnostic software. I am now faster and more accurate in intuition and deductive reasoning than with waiting for a computer to find an error that may or may not pop up.

And now I'll compare medicine to cars: Just because you can't see it doesn't mean it's not there.

EV - I know you're unhappy with yours, but can you give a link to show this? In 2007, Michael Karesh's TrueDelta.com results show the Altima as having a higher trips/year rate than the Versa, and the Versa improved 20% in 2008, although the Altima improved even more. On JD Powers, the Pathfinder is rated the lowest of 2008 Nissans, and then the next step is five other models including the Versa. What data are you using?

EV has a 2007. You have a 2007. I have a 2007. JD Powers rates the 2007 Versa the lowest of the Nissans, including the Pathfinder. The 2008 results got better for the Versa, worse for the Pathfinder, but the 2008 results don't really apply to the cars we actually own.

I understand, but he used present tense, not past tense. And the TrueDelta ratings don't show the same for 2007's, so I think it's a little misleading for a former moderator who gets a lot more respect on this board than you and me to constantly give new folks the wrong impression about Versas. (Such as another post where he said Versas are prone to falling apart.)

I have 2 Nissans:- 2008 Versa SL (bought Dec 2007), now 12,000 miles, 30-32mpg on highway- no issues (except some random rattles and a trip to the dealer to change the actuators for windows)- 2007 Pathfinder (bought Jan 2007), now 22,000 miles, 19 mpg highway, 14 mpg city - no issues/problems at all

True Delta vs. J.D. Powers vs. epinions.com vs. Consumer Reports vs. Edmunds etc., etc. etc.

What would really help us honestly compare the results of each would be clarification on methodology and size of sample data. I'd like to know who has the largest sample sizes in addition to whether the results are being compiled from shop reports, owner questionnaires, owners who actively have to take the time to log in and report things, etc. We can argue stats until the cows come home without resolving this kind of stuff because there are simply a ton of competing stat collectors out there we can cite.

I give people my impression of Versas. My impression of Versas may be different than yours, but it is not wrong. Just as yours is not wrong for being different than mine.

Most "new folks" have no idea that I used to be a moderator, so what does that have to do with anything? Do I intimidate you? I shouldn't. I don't have any more sway than anyone else here.

megpl wrote:Oh ... by I don't question the warranty on this filterIt is quite understandable

What is not understandable is that in January when I brought the car to the dealer with complains of smell, the dealer could not detect the reason for smell ... where was that mouse <IMG NAME="icon" SRC="http://images.nicoclub.com/forums/image ... lleyes.gif" BORDER="0"> ...

Now they found it (hurray!) after my formal complain with Nissan North America

So ... you see... my trust in that dealership is somehow shaken ...I would love to see this mouse nest with my own eyes

same goes for the gas pump ; they said that in Jan/Feb they repalced it with the "wrong pump" .... what does it mean "wrong pump" ???
i would've asked to see the dead mice or nest. i don't buy it for a second. a soiled nest or decomposing mice smell much worse than burnt food.

Why reply to a post that's nearly two years old?
