Add in 11.5:1 pistons and ITB's and you could probably see 450+ at the crank. Boost is definitely the way to go on a VH though. With injectors and a good tune they can handle 11lbs.
Yeah, my numbers were a bit on the conservative side, but I simply meant to say getting to that same hp goal with the VG30DETT is easier and doesn't require a whole bunch of guesswork. I'm not saying VH's are a bad idea... just expressing why I lost interest in them for Z32's...

Not to say that reinventing the wheel is bad... if i wanted easy power, I'd just build and turbo my KA. But I want something that weighs less, has more displacement and a 6sd transmission. So my heart is set on the uncommon VQ30DET. It makes more sense to me for my needs than VH's or most other motors...

Yeah, making power on factory FI cars is one of the easiest things in the world. I choose the VH cause it would be cheaper then the VG, I like NA power and I figured I'd be the only regular on the Z32 forum with a 450zx. I could easily make more power on a VG, but I'm not out for ridiculous power. This is my street car, and I like it that way. Plus, it'll be pretty light.

What transmission would you use with the VQ? The one from the 350Z/G? Better find a taller rear for your S13, cause that .79 6th gear isn't gonna be friendly for cruising.

Yeah, it would be a Z or G 6spd transmission. I haven't decided which diff I'd use yet. All of this is a looong ways off... I'm keeping an eye on other swaps to see what they're doing first...

That's what I said until I found a GREAT deal on a VH setup... Plan for the future but be ready at any time. Never know when a guy in your area decides he needs to immediately get rid of a built VQ30 he has sitting on his garage floor.

I've got the money to buy one right now and somebody local (relatively... El Paso) to me has one.... He's putting it in a 260Z once he gets back from Iraq. I would offer him a hand, but El Paso is like 14 hours ago or something like that...

Jhot said they'd be bringing in more of them since there seems to be a potential market for them now... I feel like I had something to do with that... lol

Even though I've got the money for it, I've got no place to put it. I guess I need a house with a garage now...

Haha that's in the same state! I could drive to Florida in that time lol.

What transmission was originally on the VQ30?

All VQ30DET equipped cars were autotragics... But there is hope!

Both are VQ30DET equipped with over 700whp...

The Option Stream Z from Gran Turismo 4...

Top Secret Z33

More down to earth project... Has a Z32 transmission, though...

That video is fake, it's sped up. Look at the turn signal during the middle of the video. Only an idiot would spend the money to swap an F1 engine in to a Honda Civic, lol. Besides... an F1 engine in a Civic would be WAY faster.

The whole idea of that is ridiculous. It's not like you can just buy an F1 motor. It's a bike engine BTW.

I've been looking everywhere for Cross-drilled brake lines!!! omg!!!!11!!

On a more serious note (no pun intended) post a video so I can hear what the exhaust sounds like.

Butt Dyno wrote:Just install a great mod like a cold air intake? Electric supercharger? Big Muffler? Magnetic fuel line ionizer? Awesome wing? Are you getting no respect from your friends for your newly found power? As we all know, these are high end and sophisticated modifications. Some may be TOO sophisticated to actually show up on a traditional dyno. So here we have: The Butt Dyno. Simply place it in the seat, and drive fast, weaving in and out of traffic. (On a race course, of course.) Now you can tell your friends with confidence "That oil-saturated air filter gave me 20 horses!"

Flat-Plane crank with ITB's and a killer exhaust. Although that will probably sound more like a slightly lower revving Ferrari, rather than an F1 car, but the sounds are fairly close.

But, I agree, this is a pretty silly thread.

Yea I figured that. I try to keep that in mind while watching exhaust videos lol. Buddy Club Spec II on a KA in person is sooooooooooooo much better than YT, for example.

There were a few, but I can't find the damned thread they were in and my old laptop crashed, so no pics.... The Escort one, though.....
