I have not been doing much but did finally get around to bumping the timing up 2 degrees. Since getting my exhaust put on the cars response was not what it used to be. The timing bump made a world of a difference. She is back to being jumpy and aggressive like when I first got her.

Encountered an issue this weekend; Metal grinding, stretching noise only on tight left turns at slow speeds going up driveways. I found that the very edge of the corner, like half a millimeter of the left front brake pad wear indicator, was rubbing the rotor only on these turns. Swapped in some 99% new pads that came on the car and the noise is gone. First time I have seen the wear indicator be so picky about when it wanted to complain.

When I bought the car I swapped all pads chasing a squeak. It turned out to be the rear rotors, so i had these new OE pads on hand.

I should also mention that I put my timing back to 0 and performed all the relearns and its running good and strong still. I suspect the car just needed more time to adjust to the exhaust. I will be doing some more experimenting with it soon.

Got the urge yesterday after work to spend some time on my paint. First I taped off and machine polished my headlights back to full clear. I have a feeling one is older than the other since they yellow at an uneven pace. Then I washed, full body clay bared, waxed, and then sealed the paint. A final full wipe down and she was so slippery to the touch and very shiny. The sun was setting so I passed on pictures last night but grabbed the one below a few minutes ago. I'll try to get some better ones later.

Clay Magic Clay
Meguires Ultimate Liquid Wax
Auto Magic Polymer Seal It
3D HD Touch Detailer (this stuff leave the paint super slick)

Optimum Compound & Optimum Polish (for the head lights)

Please ignore my clear bra tan line.

Ordered a set of these 6K/3K switchable LED bulbs for my fog lights. Turning them on/off/on changes them from 6k white to 3k yellow which is pretty cool.

They default to white which I don't like so I might de-solder and swap the wiring so they default to yellow instead. Also ordered new bulbs for my DRL's. Pics and/or video of both to come.

Those are cool. I admire the level of customization you've gone to. Pretty sweet without going too far and destroying the beauty of these cars and how they've been designed.

So do they operate as another set of DRL's? I'm a bit confused as to how these will work as fogs..

They plug into the standard fog light wiring and power up their white LED. If the fog light switch is turned off and on again quickly the internal circuitry of the the bulbs switches power to the yellow LED. So you can switch between white or yellow fog lights using the factory fog light switch, no additional wiring needed.

Same concept here but with Amber and White (Jump to :40):

Ok, all done. I de-soldered and then reversed , and re-soldered the Black and White wires on all four LEDs. Bench test showed them working as desired. They default to yellow and switch to white when power cycled quickly. I Installed them in the car and tested again. I likey.

Tomorrow I will most likely be working on a new, unrelated LED DIY. :naughty:

New DRL bulbs have been installed and are bright.

My spark plugs also came in today and derailed my next LED mini project. The spark plugs have been installed. 2.5 hours start to finish. The passenger rear most was the worst. The rest went in easy enough, would have been much easier if my hands were smaller. I think they were due. :chuckle:

New DRL bulbs. 45 LEDs each.

The fog light bulbs plug in and fit the fog light housings like normal H8 bulbs.

My DRL setup uses the front parking light socket. You can see my DRL DIY HERE and a video of the original bulbs in action below. Maybe I should make a new video with my current bulb setup.

Ok , just wanted to confirm they're completely plug n play, no modification needed.

I gave up on my LED fog replacements from iJDMtoy and will put back the oem ones. Will give these a try.

Thank you 😊

Soooooo a couple days after replacing the plugs it developed a misfire when under load at lower RPM's. First it was very subtle then extreme, then back to subtle. Of course it refused to set a code and Nissan does not have any Misfire counters built into the data stream. Awesome. A friend at work and I hooked up a scope today but at idle we could not definitively find the bad coil behind the issue. BUT today, finally, on the way home it set a code. :bowrofl:

Time to swap #8 with #1 and see if the issue follows.

So here's a fun fact. Cylinder 1 - 6 use one coil part#, and cylinder 7 & 8 use another. So to check the coil by swapping it meant I could only swap 8 and 7, the two hardest to get to. Fun.

Cylinders 1 - 6: 224481KT1A (right)
Cylinders 7 & 8: 22448EY00A (left; has V mark; same as 3.7L)

just installed these as well - driver side pretty easy to get to, didn't have to pull everything apart....passenger side is another story, darn windshield washer reservoir tank in the way, so had to remove the wheel liner so I had enough room to work in. I didn't swap the innards because I want the white to be the default. I was using 3000K LEDs from IJDMtoy before this (got lucky, cuz' I know Ilya had a lot of probs with them - their quality control is for sh*t, I had to glue/crimp one of the bulbs because it was freely spinning around in the socket base) hopefully these last a while

I got those also and put them in while my bumper was off for the grill install. Funny thing I noticed is that the plug is reversible and the light came on either way I plugged it in. I hope they last longer then the iJDMtoy junk.

Hey we got a little club going now around these fog lights now! :chuckle: Glad I was able to share a little something with you guys. Funny you both are coming from iJDMtoy. I hope these last a while too, that passenger side is pain. They seem to be built pretty well and the switchable light is a neat trick. So far i'm happy with them. :dblthumb:

Thanks Debonair for the nice find!!! I really like these.

So FYI, not sure if others' sets might do this, but if you rapidly flick your high beams (like trying to get an older tech stale red light to change - not sure if this is urban legend or not) you might get one fog light to be 6000k and the other 3000k, noticed that a few nights ago. I was a little worried that I would never get them to be in sync again, BUT a rapid high beam flick a couple times sorted it out, thankfully - I only wish I could easily tell which color was shining without having to see them bounce off a window or a dark colored car in front of me, but that is a nitpick.

You're welcome! :woot:

I got to work one day and was confused to find white fog lights on when I got out. Took me a minute to realize that I had flashed my high beams at someone on the way to work. :chuckle: But I have not seen the mismatch yet. I don't think they can get out of sync permanently though. Once they have been powered off for a bit they reset back to the default color. And I also am bugged by not being able to easily tell what color is on.

So a couple weeks ago my O'Reilly AGM battery felt like it was on its way out. Three progressively slower starts in one day made me sure I was in for a dead battery in the morning. The next day it fired the car up good and strong and has every day since. Until this last Friday.

Friday I went to get some stuff at harbor freight. Came out and she was dead. Nothing but that low, slow tale-tale growl of a starter powered by a dead battery. Fortunately this particular HF is next door to an O'Reilly. Walked back into HF, got a 10mm wrench, pulled the battery, and dropped it off for the charge and test at O'Reilly. The bad battery had 5 months of free replacement left and was replaced at no charge.

Most convenient dead battery ever. :chuckle:
