Here's the link for Canada:

http://wwwapps.tc.gc.ca/Saf-Sec-Sur/7/V ... esult&pg=0

my problem is:
- I've moved since my last service at the dealership so they probably mailed something to a dead end
- My vehicle was purchased second had and is an american model that was imported to Canada by the previous own. I've had it since 2008.

I have moved, too. I called and notified the dealership I used for service and they updated my address, but recommended I call Infiniti customer care (or whatever it's called, the same place everyone recommends calling when you have dealership problems), too. I changed it there, and I was amongst the first to get the initial notice (11/2). Also, the notice has a returnable form that is supposed to be filled out and returned if received by someone who doesn't own the car (with options like: I sold it, they moved, and I never owned it).

Am I the only one who was told the recall doesn't apply to their car? I'm a little skeptical....

You are not the only one....
I called my dealer, they checked my VIN# and said my car was not affected.

@Wangtang - good to know, thanks! I also had an address change, so I was curious if I fell out of the loop (I did change it from the Nissan hotline though)

It seemed by the numbers that 100K M's would have been every single one of them... I guess not

It seems like a lot but if you look at it, it's 100K M's from 2006-2010.

I did notice some hesitation off and on in the weeks before the sensor failed, as well as the dash lights going on for no reason. I thought maybe it was bad gas or a
problem with the vehicle dynamic control switch.

I experienced this failure early last August. The car started with some intermittent hesitation a few days before and then almost died during a short drive. It felt like it was running out of gas, except it would briefly recover very weakly, and then almost stall out again a few seconds later. This was very unexpected and quite dangerous even in a suburban setting. It was covered under an extended warranty and fixed in two days. I was surprised given the overall reliability of the car, and relieved to see the recall notice. I was concerned about a
potentially more complicated set of issues related to the stability control system recurring. Before the failure occurred, the stability control and limited slip lights would go on for no reason, and stay on. After restarting they would go off. When the failure occurred a few days later, these lights and the check engine light stayed on. I had to leave town the next day for a trip and came back three weeks later. The car started fine, the lights were off except for the check engine light, and I made it 3 miles to the dealer for the repair. There was at
least one stored code.

This was posted on a related thread but safety issues are similar to some of the posts on this thread as well.

For those of you that have received a letter, or haven't received a letter; and the dealer says you are not part of the recall, I suggest you wait until the work can actually get done. The dealer obviously checks some database which hasn't been updated yet. Most likely it will be updated once infiniti is ready to start paying dealerships for the parts and labor.

Has anyone gone to the dealership, and have them tell you YES you are on the system and you need to get a replacement.

Sounds like everyone has been told they are not part of the recall.

Just a thought.

i called the dealer about 2-3 weeks ago and the service rep told me my VIN is not in the affected database. Now whether the rep did actually looked or just BSing, i'm not sure. but i finally received the notice last week. the fact of the matter is you gotta make sure Infiniti knows you have the car. i'm assuming they're checking the dmv for all registered M35x VIN and then slowly send out notice.

The service rep checked my vin# and said he checked the back end system which takes a while due to different menus which would have flagged it there was a recal or maintenance required. He also said most service rep are lazy and don't check the back back end menus. He assured me that my car was not affected but I ended getting letter. I will be calling again Monday and see if my vin# shows up in their system as an affect car. I guess that you can't trust the service rep and just wait for the letter.

My lights came on about 2 weeks ago while I was driving home but went away once I turned off the car. They haven't come back on since. I hope this isn't an early indication of trouble ahead. Hopefully we can get this fixed soon, especially for the peace of mind.

Just received mine back and in a 10 minute hw drive home, nothing major to report. Split second earlier shifting was all I noticed thus far. Anyone else had their recall done and have any interesting points?

And in a plug for the dealership's service dept, Holman's front side service reps are on top of it. Steve was accommodating, and took pains to take care of other things in the car that I did not see, and I look. It was good to see him look after my car as if it was his. Kudos.

since I've had the recall taken care of a week ago today, it's safe to say that once again (after having numerous parts replaced incl the transmission case, two entire brakes, the rack/pinion etc.) this feels like a brand new car.

it revs correctly and is 100x smoother than it previously was, even after having the gas pedal tightened up (after my dash lit up with check engine, slip, VDC) and the wrong fix applied about a month before they issued the recall notice.

the gas pedal feels much more springy and the car is absolutely more responsive now.

there's no hesitation at all anymore.

I think this recall is a must for all M-owners based on comments posted above.
I will pressure my dealer to update my ECU if I dont receive the second letter.

I never received a second letter. Just made an appointment with the service dept. and they didn't ask any questions.
Was given a loaner g37 and was called back to pick it up an hour and half later.
I think the throttle body opens more when you are at lower percentage pedal press. I came to this conclusion by watching the vertical mpg gauge. The bar stays at lower mpg than it did before with similar driving. I'll find out today when I fill up my tank how it did on fuel mileage.
I don't know if I would be happy with worse gas mileage on my 45, but safety first, I guess...

I wanted to add some feedback on how the car feels after the recall work has been performed. We have several threads already going around about this recall but this one seems to be the original.

I went to my local Infiniti dealer after work yesterday for my scheduled appointment that I made earlier in the week. I was advised the time required would be 2 hours but it actually only took about an hour and a half and that includes them detailing my car afterward which was a nice surprise (maybe this is standard for recall/warranty work?). Overall, the pedal physically requires less effort to depress. The pedal travel feels more fluid and this translates to the car seeming to accelerate with more finesse. Before, the pedal felt almost a bit touchy. It takes a little getting used to, but I believe its a better feel overall.

On a side note, my car had 2 degree of timing advance going in. I was very curious if after the ECM update I would lose that, however I can confirm it remained. It was either added back or unaffected by the update. So for those with just the timing advance you shouldn't lose it.

FlawLez:

I agree with your description of the throttle feel after the recall fix. It definitely feels smoother. It seems to me that the throttle used to have a little lag or delay in responding, or sometimes was a little "overeager". Now it responds more predictably. That's my impression, anyway.

Took my car to the dealer for the recall. I must say I agree with others. The car is way more responsive. It accelerates and shifts smoother. Btw I didn't wait on the second letter. I called and set an appointment, they already had my VIN on file. Took about a hour or so plus a complimentary car detail.

I just had my 08 M45x in at the dealer to have some warranty work done before my Elite Warranty expired and they did a VIN search and mine came up eligible for the recall repair. Fixed. I never got any mailers or correspondence from Infiniti regarding the recall, though.

I got my second notice. Says the parts and labor are free and the service should take about 3 hours to complete. I shall try to get the car in next week before we leave to fly home for the Crimbo holidays. I'll let you lot know if I notice the same improvements that others have posted.

I took my car to the dealer this weekend. I have had my car for only a month ago so my address was not in Infiniti's system. The dealer did not even ask for the letter. I made my appointment and dropped the car off. It took 2 hours to get the work done. Beshoff Infiniti in San Jose have really good service. I would recommend them to anyone in Bay Area. They did a complete inspection of the car as well as a complementary carwash :). And I got a loaner while they did the work.

About the recall - the car is more responsive. I am not sure if it is me but it seems to be staying in lower rpms for average freeway speeds (as compared to before the recall work). Still have to see if there is any difference in mileage.
