Does anyone know off the top of their head what an LS1 crate motor goes for?

if you dont have the engine yet dont get the ls1. look thats a vary cool looking motor, but the z06 engine fits a lot better but you need to move the engine forward and weld in brakets for motor mounts cut the transmission channel out to make room for the trans. cut the drive shaft and you need the yoke from trans. and rear end the wiring harness and insterment cluster if you want all the extras and this engine is very fast and the pcm. can be programed any way you want in up to 525 hp.

thats a mustang....how does that pertain to vette's and ls1s? and what you said doesnt make very much sense.... either motor will need fabbing.

And as far as I can remember, z06 used either ls6 or ls7 both of which are pretty much the same as the ls1 as far as dimensions go.

Wait, did I miss something? Z06 = vette.

correct. and both can have a GTO oilpan and pickup used to correct the K-member issue. There is no bending banging or anything like that on the firewall. He obviously doesn't know what he is talking about.

Don't believe me? My car is sitting in the driveway and I'll be more than happy to take pictures of the firewall to prove that nothing was hammered or bent.

just wondering, ya didn't have to bang the firewall some to get a t-56 out of a camaro in there?(the 1 out of a vette C5 & up is a transaxle type so it wont fit a 240)

btw a new crate motor with wiring + ecu and accesories is like $6k or so.(this is a new 1, not 1 out of a junkjard, comes with warranty), an LS7 with same thing is $14k.

It will ocst you about $7-8,000 if you do it yourself.

Hinson Supercars is now offering a $800 mounting kit that fits all your LS1 mounting needs in a 240sx.

The engine can be bought w/ transmission, ecu, and all components for around $4k.itNot only is it badass and an EASY way to slam mega reliable power, but it weighs 100lbs LIGHTER than the KA24DE engine does (no joke), and is COMPLETELY LEGAL (unlike the "get your car crushed" SR20). Just make sure the LS1 is newer than the Car you put it in and it is legal.

Ignore the jealous haters on here.. They just dont have the money to do what you want to. ****.. i would have done it if I knew the LS1 was Legal when i invested all that money into my forged internals on my KA.

Jett Blaque Vert wrote:WTF???? The Whole point of owning a 240 (for me at least) is that after my project is done I will own a 12 second 4 banger that I can drive anywhere and smoke the Freakin doors off of most V-8's and have a style that few people have. In my state I'd say there is No one that has a S13.5 and only one person that I know has done a SR20DET. Thats Statewide. If you wanna do a V-8 in something you are gonna need MAD cash and choosing something with a rigid frame is wise. Do a newer body S-10 and Quad Link the Rear-end but don't disgrace a 240.

LOL ok i feel better. It's your call tho, I just know that I've V-8ed 89 S-10 350 with a 383 stroker kit and Edelbrock RPM matching cam Intake and carb 700R4 and a Camaro LSD Rear with the mono-link, a 84 Monza 2+2 and have owned several Drag cars including my first love a 69' SS Camaro with a 396 4-spd 4 linked and Tubbed with Tunnel Ram set-up then later a low rise blower. NOTHING puts out the power like a V-8 in Bang for the Buck But for me it's about Bang for the the Cylinder. Power to weight Ratio is everything to me. SO if ya think ya can do it, I say Go for it, if you want to desecrate a fine car But it's not what is important to us, it's what's important to you
If it was all about power to weight ratio for you, then you would be all for the LS1 swap. Considering the LS1 is LIGHTER than a KA.

My FD will be getting an LSX series motor in the next few months(I have a wet nitrous kit waiting). I'm actually planning on selling the Vette now to totally re-do the FD. Eventually I want a Twin Turbo C5 Z06, but that'll have to wait till the S13 and FD get done.

An estimate of when these kits will be available?
