so thanks to a local forum guy... i have a video of my first run from sunday

now... i wish he woulda got my later and faster runs... but just for you guys... here is a little truck autocross action!

(by the way... even tho its my first run of the day... it was still faster than the guy with the camera's fastest run of the day... and he was in a NISMO 350Z!)

and just so you guys know... my exhaust sounds better in person... the mic didn't pick it up well

That is a cool video. I will have to post up some pics of my ghetto ram air intake. Did you run ducts from the highbeams to your front brakes to help cool them? My buddy did this for his 86 camaro, he is runnig in the SCCA club trials.

haha... the sound in that vid sounds awful man! it sounds ridiculous in person.... headers into fully straight piping with only a resonator... makes the honda guys cry a little inside

LOL. It sounded good until the mic caught some wind. You should dyno the thing before you do your side draft project, and record that! Then you can compare before and after. I am running strait welded pipe into a cheap muffler, from the stock exhaust manifold. It's kinda loud though, since I have a broken bolt stuck in the head for the exhaust man mounting bolts. When I was putting the engine back together, I found it and said oh well, I just want to see if it runs. It is a real pita to reach.

i guess it may sound better on certain speakers than others... mine are pretty bad

nothing beats hearing it in person though

i'll probably dyno it before and after... but money to do the project is where i'm stuck at

It sounds wicked. Down here in the caribbean we call it solodex. Same flat course coned sections and it real fun.

i beat many 'performance' cars and a lot of people get confused....

it's mostly stock relatively speaking... i've lightened it extensively no interior... battery where the passenger seat was... no headlights anymore etc.

and i've added power with a full custom exhaust with headers and no cat

stiffened it via shocks and lowered it

as i said in the original post... the guy holding the camera actually ran a full 2 seconds slower than me in a NISMO 350Z

i noticed my truck was fairly light originaly my buddies 2 of em can lift my truck are you going to add any engine modifications ? high intake, bore out any lighter pistons flywheel upgrade clutch, blower cause i dont think you can add turbo to carberated engines and have run correctly. O and did u upgrade shocks/suspension?

using a digital camera take the pictures, then go to photobucket.com, upload and use the lowest link on the picture you choose, copy and paste to your post. down here in the caribbean, we are accoustomed to turboing carburetted cars. Detonation is the main problem so we inject either alcohol or water to get around that. fuel pressure regulation is another problem and is solved with an adjustable regulator. the higher the boost fuel to the carb must be proportionate.

used a wiper washer and piped it below the carb with a switch. these days we use screwed fittings into the manifold below the carb and aftermarket fuel pump to help with automization of the spray. we do not lower compression but sometimes increase it. built an L18 with estimated 200 bhp in 1990.

cool but i dont think i will modify my carb any im making my truck a show truck it would be cool but i dont want to do stuff to my truck that i dont know anything about i dont want to screw engine up its cool that you can do that i thought that you had to do fuel injection to have it

nah... its all about tuning and jetting and making sure your parts are alcohol friendly... whatever carb i end up getting... i plan on using E85 through it

when ever soem one talks about E85 having better gas miliage i laugh because its less fuel efficient so you end up paying same price for same miles its great but im not sure about the whole power boost or not

I know e85 is better for turbo cars but it has to be tuned for it, and you need injectors about twice the size you would with gas. Ive heard its basicly like running 120something octane.

yeah you have to tune for it... it can give you better gas mileage but no one will ever get that...

to run it in a carbed car you have to flow the jets 30% higher to make up the fuel densities... this will give you back your regular performance but with 105 octane fuel so you'll torque a little more... but the cool part is that it is 105 octane... so what you do is instead of just 30% is you flow the hell out of it and adjust your timing higher with a cam or something and voila! insta-power!

i'm not sure what the numbers will look like in the z24 but i'm excited to see the result

i know that in big V8's... up here at the drag strip... E85 adds 80-100 horsepower!!! when tuned properly of course

in the little z24.... if i can get 35-40 i'll be f***in ecstatic!

I'm VERY familiar with that "lock my brakes" poof of smoke at the 30 second interval. No ABS in the GTS =(

Looked like a clean run man. I wish we had an in-cockpit view, as I'm quite curious about how your lines look and your braking points per segment.

yeah i know... that was my first run of the day so the lines were actually not where they should have been

i had a GoPro for one event... and somehow it only recorded the first run (also terrible) and then it died... i didn't even feel like editing it :/

oh yeah... this was before i did my endlink work as well so there was more understeer than i would like but it may not be all that noticeable in the video

if you feel like viewing it its here... just fast forward to 3:10 unless you wanna watch grid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ycq15mPuAOI

Will check this out when I'm less drunk. Relatively destroyed right now, so I wouldn't be able to make out an apex from a banana.
