+2?

I love the large slalom setups with the numerous cones.

are you talking +2 cones? if so it was only +1 on that run

i would have liked the multi-cone slalom had it not been that location... there's a lot of surface issue there and some of it is not noticeable in the video

a few guys blew shocks that day (video 2) and i personally destroyed the dust boot on my front passenger shock

Yea, cones. My bad, I thought I heard 2, possibly three. At times they can sound like suspension rumble, so I must have just been hearing that, or I was hearing my head pounding as I had a bit too much to drink last night (celebrating a decent test and tune session, for others, not for me =P).

I can see the course issue quite well, it looks like you were VC'ed (victim of the course, something we say here in DC) when you locked up. Fed Ex Field, where SCCA holds the solo's out here, has two different surfaces and elevation changes. The tarmac is all too unpredictable at times for folks w/out current vehicles or folks not running top tier rubber (v710's or A6's).

yeah... our surface is relatively uniform... but it is full of cracks and 'jumps'... the jumps are the suspension killers

as in basic specs?

power: roughly 100whp at sea level (not as much here in CO) though it hasn't been dyno'dsuspension: KYB struts with lowered stance (3ish inches in the front and 2 inches in the rear)... heavy duty endlinks in the front... and for the video from outside of the truck (and to this day) there is between -3.5 and -4 degrees of camber weight: around 2,200 but will be less once build is done... interior looks like this

more info can be found in my build thread... though after reading the rules closely i have rethought a few of the things already zerothread/438016

Any more events this season? I think I have at least 5-6 scheduled and two track days left before the winter shutdown.

No EP for me next year =( Spoke to several of the folks that impound the cars for the nationals and they said that even though my motor is a 4ag, it's still considered a motorswap, so the car would be SM or DQ'ed if I tried to run EP.

The Corolla's plans have changed, it'll be my HPDE car next year as I plan on doing NASA. My MR2 will be built for STS for SCCA next year. I have a build thread in the "others" section going on right now, but nothing significant as I'm still awaiting parts/financing the project.

Yea, I saw the nationals sheet. Someone I know up here took ESP for the ladies, Kraus.

There are several types of 4ag's. Just a quick rundown:-Bluetop: Called that because of the blue lettering on the valve cover (this is the motor that was originally in my car)

-Redtop: Again, because of the lettering. Higher compresssion in this one. Came in AE92's and a couple other cars. The guy you know either has one of these or a Bluetop, as both, on the outside, look the same to an uninformed invididual. You can, however, tell the differences, as 7 rib block is a giveaway.

-Silvertop: Never released in the states. Came in Trueno's and Levins. High compression once more. 20 valves instead of 16, also VVT.

-Blacktop: What I have in my car. Came from a AE111, never released in the states. 20 valves, VVT, higher compression than the Silvertops. Basically the cream of the crop as far as 4AG's go.

Because I do not have a bluetop, it's considered a motorswap. =(

I've wanted to get into NASA since I got back from Germany anyway, and having a dedicated car for such sounds good to me, so my MR2 will be my cone-car. =)

Weisco sells several different piston configurations for the 4ag. I happen to have 11:1 pistons laying around my house waiting on a reason to use them.

Sweet. Pics please!

How did you get bumped up to EP btw?

Edit: Any chance you'll make it to any national events next year? Depending on how my STS build goes and how the car treats me, I plan on doing my mandatory 2 events so that I can possibly go to the nationals next year.

i'll be going if i get enough money to build my suspension up well enough for EP and get consistent fuel delivery and some r-comps...

but i'm in EP because i technically don't have a class... and they will be putting me with cars that share engines closer to mine... almost all the datsun cars (510 etc) run EP... i had to write a letter to scca just to be classed lol... if i didn't write them a letter asking for classing i would have been DQ'd trying to enter a national event

Nice... Leave it to the SCCA to ignore a vehicle's classification. My MR2 is already outclassed in STS, but I think with a proper build I can make it competitive... Hopefully. I plan on investing 7-10k on the car (including body work and paint due to major rust), so hopefully it wont be for nothing.

As far as tire size goes, what are you looking for. I can keep an eye out if I see any used deals in the DC metro area.

well... lol

i need to save up the money to at least start the suspension before i get tires... and at the very least get a new carb too... then i can move to the tires for which i will also need wheels for...

but i'll be looking into 13x10 wheels with 275 hoosiers

Just A6's you're looking for, or would V710's do? Like I said, I'll keep an eye out in my area. The DC area is massive for autox, as we hold one of the national events and our level of competition is massive, so plenty of used tires go around.

Man pezi, either I gotta go out there or you gotta come out here. I would love to run with another 720, or even another pickup in general.
