This might sound really dumb, but I think it'll make sense to this thread.
I'm a computer guy, high up on the food chain in my company. When I decide to have a break, I don't take into account my surroundings, other than if its a spot I can kick back for a few and escape the daily grind.
Granted, people can walk by and see me where I sit, and theres a mad panic, or they slow down to ask me whats wrong or whatever - because they automatically think that since I'm there, even though I'm my eating my snack/coffee/whatever, theres somethign wrong with the computer equipment in my vicinity, or that something major is about to get done there.
Fact of the matter is, I'm human, and I have a job, I'm entailed to breaks like everyone else. If they want to stop and look at me, or talk to me and make their own conclusions, thats their own perogative. Some peopel even have the audacity to think I shouldn't have breaks, cuz they're paying for our support!
Corrupt people get jobs in every field, whether its police, government, the 7/11 down the road or even the peddling for change when he got a pocket full of money.
I can see how cops can have a holier than thou status in smaller communities and towns, but that also goes along with alot of other people in that same place of residence, that can have the same type of reputation/status - if you can not understand this, I refuse to explain.

ps: I take cop stories involving young folks claiming police to be doing everything but their job with a grain of salt. More often than not the culprit is guilty as charged, but somehow the police are targeting them because of who they are.
*EDIT: I think my reply might have more to do with this original thread moreso than this...but they're directly related
