Seriously though, watch SHANE, it helped put Jack Palance on the map along with a couple other stars. There's also Butch Cassady and the Sundance Kid, Tin Star, and High Noon.

Actually "Firefly" is one of the best TV shows to have aired in the last decade. Ergo, it was put in a death-slot and cancelled before it even had a chance. f*** you very much, Fox.

This is wrong.

A good deal of what you call "westerns" were actually shot in Italy.

Still my favorite western of them all.

That scene in the beginning at the railroad station where the three dudes tell Harmonica that there's only three horses and then Harmonica tells them that there's actually two extra horses. Oh, just a bad a** movie!

Never got a chance to see 3:10 To Yuma when it came out and completely forgot about it until I got in this thread. Definitely gonna check it out soon.

I like the quote from the movie Tombstone, "You tell'em justice is coming! This was also said at a railroad station.

i didnt say shot, i said set. the proposition was played out to take place in australia. no clue where it, or your typical western would have been shot.

awesome flick.

Quigley Down Under was also set in Australia and was absolutely EPIC.

Watch the original 3:10 to Yuma, then watch the remake.

"Paint your Wagon" with Eastwood was comedic western gold. I also liked Two Mules fro Sister Sara and The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly. Wayne has always been my favorite though. I don't think I have ever watched one of his movies that I didn't like. Favorites: McLintock, Rooster Cogburn, and The Cowboys.

Not a big fan of new Westerns.

It didn't "come out" recently. That was a remake of the original from years and years before...

Edit: Police boi got it before me...

the new 3:10 pissed me off.

I mean I was digging it until the stupid change of the ending...sons of bishez.

but seriously, if none of you have seen it, go watch Appaloosa.

it's the best western to come out in the last 5 to maybe 15 years.

depends on how much you like Open Range :)

Some movies are better to drink copiously to and pass out or get distracted before the end. This is what I use to explain modern movies...
Saw appaloosa a couple of weeks ago, good film.

There isn't any difference in the film's grain structure when comparing blu-ray and VHS and I don't think white balance existed back then. You're just seeing a drop in "resolution" and degradation of image quality which definitely has a look.

BTW John Wayne was the man. Not a western but The Quiet Man FTMFW!
