Here is my recent problem:

For a little while when I gave left or right turn signal, the flasher relay blinks twice fast and than starts to blink in it s normal speed. Let me explain in a funny way:

-Want to give left/right turn signal
-Pull the signal arm downwards/upwards
-Sounds like this:

Tick
Tick
--
Tick
--
Tick

and the green turn arrows on the instrument panel lights the same as the sound

Green
Green
--
Green
--
Green

I can record this tomorrow with a camera. I must have a proof if I go to the dealer, because I can't replicate it when I want.

This morning it did this on every turn signal. When I was returning back home, it happens randomly (once every 10 - 15 turn signal).

Is it the signal switch or relay? I am not using LED bulbs, so it can't be related to load.

blinker fluid man.... blinker fluid. change it! lol/jk.

you probably just need a new relay thats all. also when a bulb goes out, there is less resistance so the remaining bulb gets a lot of the juice and cycles the relay faster.

If you do go get a new relay, go to Oreilly, Napa, or some other parts store and buy generic. The OEM one is $70!

I had to replace one on my old XTerra. It was $70 from Nissan an $18 from O'Reilly.

Guys I am scared. According to the factory sevice manual (page EXL-14), our Rogue's turn signal is controlled by the BCM:
System Description

OUTLINE
Turn signal lamp and the hazard warning lamp is controlled by combination switch reading function and the flasher control function of BCM.
TURN SIGNAL LAMP OPERATION
BCM detects the combination switch condition by the combination switch reading function.
BCM supplies voltage to the right (left) turn signal lamp circuit when the ignition switch is turned ON and the turn signal switch is in the right (left) position. BCM blinks the turn signal lamp.
HAZARD WARNING LAMP OPERATION
BCM supplies voltage to both turn signal lamp circuit when the hazard switch is turned ON. BCM blinks the hazard warning lamp.
TURN SIGNAL INDICATOR LAMP AND TURN SIGNAL SOUND OPERATION
• BCM transmits the turn indicator signal to the combination meter with CAN communication while the turn signal lamp and the hazard warning lamp are operating.
• Combination meter outputs the turn signal sound with the integrated buzzer while blinking the turn signal
indicator lamp according to the turn indicator signal.
HIGH FLASHER OPERATION (FAIL-SAFE)
• BCM detects the turn signal lamp circuit status by the terminal current value.
• BCM increases the turn signal lamp blinking speed if the bulb or harness open is detected with the turn signal lamp operating.
NOTE:
The blinking speed is normal while operating the hazard warning lamp.
Maybe BCM uses a relay? I don't know. Maybe that combination switch is not working properly? I don't know... All I can see is it wont be solved by a single relay swap...

:frown: after I search with proper terminology I found out that there is no relay in our cars:

2011-rogue-flasher-relay-t535993.html

The problem is in either the combination switch or computer...

have you tried putting in a new bulb? Do you have the video of what it does?

Here are the two videos:

When the car was cold, it is more frequent. It is hard to understand from that video but if you listen carefully, you will hear what I meant by tick-tick-----tick-----tick:
Image

This is when I drive the car for 1-2 hours andcar is warmer. As you can see, compared to cold version, it is not very frequent.

Probably the best video to show the problem:

Today they changed the turn signal switch. It is fixed. The new signal is more stiff and working properly...

The switch started to make that click click noise. Whenever I lift or lower the switch to give left or right turn, it intermittently "click click" and then start its regular clicking pace...

So I have two questions:
1- The new switch has the exact same problem after one year. Is it a bad design or my bad luck?
2- I wonder if any of you experience the same problem..or am I using the turn signal switch too much???

same problem this cold morning. left turn signal was blinking very fast, compared to the normally operating right blinkers.

i checked the bulbs, and they are all fine.

i opted to take the front turn signal bulb out, and it all of a sudden started to operate normally. very strange. i think the cold is affected the combination switch. i will keep an eye on it and update you guys on here.

I'm reserecting this thread because I started having the same problem yesterday. Asked at the parts store for a turn signal relay, they told me the car doesn't have any and recommended i put bulb grease on the turn signal bulbs. I'll let you kow if that works. If not I'll replace the bulbs (since the problem only presents on the passenger side). Question: is there one turn signal switch or 2? not sure where to go next if the grease and the bulb replacement doesn't solve the problem.

Rogue doesn't have a signal relay. The computer blinks the lights. Actually that was the reason I was panicked when it makes funny noises. I though computer was going to die.

I don't think it is about the bulbs or bulb's connections to the sockets. Because I replaced my first combination switch when the car was under warranty. The problem solved immediately. Than after about a year it returned back. During that 10-11 months i didn't have any issues.

Every time I use my signal I hate Nissan...

The left turn signal is flashing real fast....both front and rear turn signal bulbs are good and flashing.

I can hear the flasher clicking but I am unable to locate it (I assume it's a bad flasher)...can anyone please tell me where the flasher is located?

Could it be a problem other than the flasher?

Thank you.

i swapped the front turn signal bulbs with one another, and cleaned the connections on the bulbs themselves = problem gone instantly. idk what it is.
