^ Glad to know you're still alive.

Went to the airshow on the boat with the family on Sunday. As always, an awesome show. I really enjoyed the F16 demo. After he was over, they flew a Mustang and the F16 as a 'heritage flight.'

The blue angels were the head liner. At some point, just about everything will fly over the boat and the water at a much higher speed than the spectator area on the run way- though not supersonic. They will approach SS, but never quite break it. You'll still see water vapor form over the wings during high G turns though.
Near the end of the angels show, one of them came SCREAMING (literally) over the boat with a noise that I could only describe as the sound of a a huge diesel winding up a gigantic supercharger at WOT.
I'll have to post a video of it when I save it to my computer.

ray, the new avatar is amazing.

i've always wanted to go to an air show, i should look into when the next one is at the air museum.

we went to an "ultimate offroading" event at the small airport in town yesterday. they created 2 mud runs and a rock crawling course at the end of the runway. we paid $10 to watch people play with their toys. plenty of getting stuck in mud, a couple blown tires, didn't stay long enough for catastrophic engine failure. the people there were a lot of fun to just look at.

Dropping the rear subframe on the S14 today so I can find/fix a fuel leak. Supposed to be 88* by mid day, probably need to get out there and get started.

Nah. Let it get to burning hot temps, then go start. Just means you need more beer to hydrate.

Whassup fellas.

Virginia is hotter than hell, I don't know how you guys deal with this s***.

Good luck with the welding, Brian.

On a positive note, I saw a 4 ship of F16's take off right over the road from whatever AFB is near Ft Eustis. It was awesome.

That would be Langley AFB. Nice base. Looks like it belongs in a Better Homes & Garden magazine.

How long are you going to be in Virginia? If you're in Richmond during the daytime, we could always grab lunch or something.

I do NOT miss F16's. Full AB take-offs are cool for about once...lol. After that they are just loud and annoying. Not as bad as the U2 though. That damn thing takes forever to get out of the local area.

I managed to drop the subframe and fuel tank yesterday. First time I've EVER dismantled suspension and etc to this point on any vehicle. Not nearly as hard as I thought it would be. Found a nice 2 inch crack in the tank. I'm going to stop drill it, weld it, patch over the weld and pressure test it.

Also going to window weld my bushings while the subframe is out.

Langley usually flies F-22s and the occasional F-15 squadron. The 16s were probably a reserve squadron doing training.

Nothing beats listening to C-130s take off. I miss that sound. FOUR FANS OF FREEDOM!

Bart- I'm headed Norfolk tonight, early a** flight out in the morning tomorrow.
But will be back on Monday, flying into Richmond.
When I book my trip, I'll shoot you a PM with the time of arrival. I'll definitely be coming in during the early afternoon, so if your schedule is clear, it'd be awesome to grab a bite and check out that proton pack. During the week I'll be in Newport News for work. If you wanted to meet up half way between for dinner during the week with Dee, I'd be down for that too.

Brian- what you're saying is that if I ever have to drop the front subframe to get the LS1 out, its really not all that bad? I wonder if the Z32 can be done that way, too?
Also- if you have a crack in the tank that is leaking, shouldn't the bladder have a problem, too? Or does Nissan not use bladders? I feel like they do but can't be trusted as gospel.

Well all subframes are different and mine was the rear subframe. No bladder on the S14.

Is that all it'll take to run again??

Back in VA. At 4:30am it should NOT take 2 hours to get into Boston.

Got to Richmond and was able to pick up a new Camaro convertible though. Beats the piss out of that gay a** equinox that I had last week.
