Not enough devices. I'm still rolling unofficial. Which, admittedly, works fine.AppleBonker wrote:Official CM10 nightlies are out for numerous devices. Get 'em now!
I'm also feeling more and more inclined to buy a Nexus 7 with each passing day.

Gnex is on a Euroskank Kang. Might try out AOKP later as it appears to be excellent. Probably wont jump to official CM10 for a bit.MinisterofDOOM wrote:Not enough devices. I'm still rolling unofficial. Which, admittedly, works fine.

The biggest thing for me is that Play Movies doesn't play nice with Root. There's a simple solution (change the name of the superuser binary) and there are even one-click apps that'll do it for you and then switch back, so it probably won't be an issue. But with a 7 inch screen I see myself using it for media a lot, so Play Movies will come up at some point.AppleBonker wrote:Any technical questions/reviews on the N7, let me know.
Honestly, I'd just start googling. Check out rootzwiki.com. I think the toughest part is getting used to how the android SDK works (since you need to connect your device to a PC running the SDK to do the initial rooting for a lot of devices). It makes sense once you're used to it, and there are lots of good how-tos to get you used to it.Dattebayo wrote:I kinda wish I was with it enough to try changing my Streak over...
I really don't know how to start.
How does play movies not work right with root? Yes, I am rooted (screenshot above shows me running a Euroskank CM10 nightly on my tab). I just loaded up the free copy of the new Transformers movie without issue. But I haven't read anything about play movies not working right either (admittedly, not a huge concern for me so I easily could've overlooked it).MinisterofDOOM wrote:The biggest thing for me is that Play Movies doesn't play nice with Root. I could make it one, though: are you rooted?
Your issue is the phone screen is too miserably small to read what's going on? And placing items in the correct location becomes difficult (as well as tapping on some of the smaller buttons)?MinisterofDOOM wrote:Actually, what I'd really like to know is: how playable is Spacechem on a 7'' screen?
I'd be much obliged if you'd download the demo and let me know.

You can't play movies rented or bought through the Play store on rooted devices. The app refuses to play them. It detects the superuser binary and prevents playback.AppleBonker wrote: How does play movies not work with root? I just tested a TV show episode. Purchased it and played it. No problems whatsoever.MinisterofDOOM wrote:You can't play movies rented or bought through the Play store on rooted devices. The app refuses to play them. It detects the superuser binary and prevents playback.
I had to download the demo to test it. No problems reading the text. UI elements were easily selectable. I didn't have to try more than once when selecting any item of the tutorial level.MinisterofDOOM wrote:My playability issues with space chem are text readability and the size of UI elements.
SWEET. Just tested it myself. A quick Google search shows the restriction was just recently lifted. The last thing keeping me from picking up a Nexus 7 is gone. I know where my next paycheck's "mad money" is going.AppleBonker wrote:I just tested a TV show episode. Purchased it and played it. Woot. That's what I needed to know.AppleBonker wrote:I had to download the demo to test it. No problems reading the text. UI elements were easily selectable. I didn't have to try more than once when selecting any item of the tutorial level.

Dee and I bought an '11 Pathfinder yesterday.

I've ready quite a few "android review by an apple fan" articles lately that praise JB. I guess Google finally got it "right" (in the sense that non-nerds are beginning to appreciate the OS).4DSC wrote:Adam and MoD - i've already decided i'm picking up the N7 too. As much as I enjoy the iPad, ICS and JB have really changed my outlook on Android and the pricing is the big seller for me. There is no way I can pick up anything else with that great of specs, for that little money.
