Hey, also make sure DHCP is turned off in the add-on router. That's crazy important.

Morning folks.

Firebird is for sale on the busy street I live on. Should've thought of that earlier...

I'm hesitant to put the miata out there with the word "turbo" written on the for sale sign though. I feel like some less moral people will read that, then decide to come back during the day and steal everything from it. I also wouldn't lock it for fear of the top being cut, causing more damage.
What do y'all think?

Good morning peoples. I did a bunch of yard work yesterday...mostly demo type stuff. Removed a bunch of bushes, root ball and all. Trimmed tree's, weeded...etc.

Now my body is reminding me that it turns 40 this year and wtf was I thinking not stretching first....and oh yeah, you're completely out of shape.

Mornin' guys.

Ray, I wouldn't park a car on the street for sale anymore. I don't trust anyone around my area and I live in a pretty decent area. I'm sure the Firebird will be alright, but I definitely would not put the Miata out there. I cringe just knowing mine is sitting at my mechanics shop right now.

Oddly enough, the guy that bought the 500 from me came by yesterday to get some paperwork from me. He told me someone through a brick through the window of it the night before and went digging through it. Couldn't find anything stolen, but they were obviously looking for something or got scared before they could steal the stereo.

I need to do some yard work myself tonight. Grass needs to be mowed and I need to trim everything. We may be having to put the house on the market soon anyways, so we need to get everything looking nice.

One nice thing about turning 40 is watching the indentured servan.. I mean kids get old enough to help you with the chores...

Ray, I would not advise parking a rag top car like your zoom-zoom on the street with a sign on it and leave it there. Way too easy for a kid to break in. Your t/a is probably safer.I assume you have it listed on line somewhere, which I think will get you more traffic than parking it on a street with a sign. On the rare times I've sold cars, I parked them at a friend's nearby gas station located at one of the busier corners of the town. then at when I got home from work, I either relocated it inside one of his bays (if one was available), or I drove it home. Another thought is taking the screaming chickenmobile to a few cruise nights (it's mid season, gotta be plenty of them every week), and put on a 4-sale sign on it. T/A's have a big following, couldn't hurt.

Actually, I hear ya. Even though I'm in shape its getting harder and harder to mow the lawn & do yard work, wash a car or two, go for a run and cook dinner without being winded. That s*** didn't happen even 2 years ago.

Definitely agree with both of you and Chris about the Miata. Leaving it out isn't the best move; but I wanted to be sure I wasn't being paranoid.

I live on a really busy road with loads of traffic every day. Though a great location, the gas station next door on an intersection has 4 points of view as opposed to my two. They're really good guys and are friendly with me, so they may let me park it on their corner for more exposure. But you're right Joel, I won't be leaving it outside overnight regardless of where it sits. They're both still insured, so if something particularly bad happened to the T/A, it could still be fixed but that doesn't mean leaving it out over night because I wouldn't do that anyway. I am going to a couple of winery events and plan to drive it there to get some exposure, but honestly haven't been to a car show in a couple of years. Good idea- I will bring it to a couple of the larger shows and hang around since that is the target audience. Plus, it gives me an excuse to go!

Um, not for that. They were entertaining little cars to drive in their day and the only Vega worth owning, which is not saying a lot. I drove one a looonng time ago. I was impressed by it's handling, surpsrisingly nimble, and it felt decently peppy for what it was back then. Unfortunately they were not particularly well made, they felt cheap and suffered from being... well a Vega, and plus they were way overpriced when new. In fact, when they were new, you could buy a leftover Corvette for about the same price.

It was kinda the SRT-4 of it's day but with less performance. At the end of the day, it was still a Neon.

Well I had an interesting thing happen today...

I had a last minute service call where the guy who used to do the contract just showed up, chaos ensued. They "let" him work on one unit while I troubleshooted the other. I found that a deep buried setting in the unit I had to work on had been mysteriously been "disabled". Ahem, These units don't do that by themselves.

Anyone think the guy was making extra work for himself? How do YOU feel about that way of doing things?

I'd say something about that. Maybe not as an accusation and your thoughts/conclusion, but report your findings in an informational manner.

Ben, I have a question that maybe you can help me out on.
My '07 Legacy needed head gaskets. Marky Mark and I replaced them. I reassembled the rest of the engine and when I went to turn the key, the lights come on, radio works, blower works, the engine won't even think about starting (like, no turn over, nothing happens when I twist the key) and I get an error, "ER Hc" in the odometer. Went online, found how to translate it (the normal OBD reader won't work, acts like there isnt a link), and got a code for a speed sensor in the passengers rear and the CAN BUS having an abnormal signal. Replaced the sensor, charged the battery, plugged it in, same error and the engine still won't respond.

I've checked all of my grounds, connections, vacuum lines, fuses, sensors to the point of pulling all of the fuses to check and pulling out all of the plugs that I could see to determine if there was any scorching or damage to the connectors or the pins, even to removing the ecu for a night. I've tried the security reset process, and leaving the battery disconnected (and charging in the meantime) for almost a week. I've also cleaned the grounds, disconnected and cleaned the starter connections (they weren't dirty, but I'm running out of ideas!), jumped power from another car with a known good battery to the starter, jumped another battery to the car, all with no luck.

Is there anything that you could think of or recommend that might help me out that I might have forgotten? The last time the engine ran, it was fine and I was doing a compression test.

I'm ready to roll this f*** thing into a lake.

Are you getting battery voltage to the main terminal on the starter? If so jump it to the starter solenoid and see if it cranks.

sad day in radio history. WCCC is dead. it used to be ct's only real rock station, then it switched to classic rock only about a year ago, as if there weren't 5 other options already. i continued to listen mainly for the morning crew and as background noise while i worked on something at home. some of you may know the station as the one where howard stern began his radio career. well, i just found out that it's been sold to "a non-profit organization that operates radio networks specializing in adult contemporary Christian music."

f*** lame.

If you have battery voltage at the starter and you jumped it to the solenoid and nothing happened then ,the starter has crapped out.

Wow, I feel dumb. Got some hawk pads for the rear of the LS8. Got the tire off, caliper removed and retracted, pads out of the box...oh F#@$. I forgot to buy caliper grease. Usually buy my brake pads at a brick-and-mortar store and get caliper grease at the same time, so I didn't even think of it this time. Good thing this is a tiny town and 6 autoparts stores are just a 15 minute walk at most.

I usually always have a spare vehicle at the house to drive, but if I ever get in a pinch usually the local Advance Auto Parts store will deliver parts to me.

I ended up walking to the Les Schwab down the street and asking if they had any spare packets or anything.

I miss having a 2nd car to take care of stuff like this.
